  1. At least you have some sort of option to try to deal with it on PvE. In Ark the claiming system was foundations and pillar spam.
  2. I've only ever spawned on the surface of the ocean, never the bottom! That's like a free exploration pass since you're going to die anyway
  3. Never do I lose my stuff if I die near my base, or on our boat unless we are actively engaged in battle. That and you can just store your stuff before you go jump in the fire. People literally make fires INSIDE their base and do it.
  4. Literally most clans just kill themselves by fire when around their base. Run outside, grab their stuff. All day long it's what happens in our guild and every other big guild out there. You even get a nice equilibrium buff reset. Your punishments only apply when away from base or a boat, which is rare in this game.
  5. I don't THINK so but anything is possible with this game right now lol. I would imagine they made it so it's only players that block it since tames take forrrevverr to starve and can be fed easily within a large radius with a feeding trough, have no real needs and can just sit there forever with minimal work. People would do stuff like hide monkeys in cracks under foundations and stuff to make their claims impossible to remove.
  6. Well everything at this point is speculation past a few bits we know which are the devs did discuss it a bit and plan to implement it, or at least did at the time of the interviews pre-launch, and it addresses some issues with getting around survival mechanics by just dying since there are no punishments. Beyond that it's anyone's guess as to how severe it will be. Some people have stated its part of the lore as well but I don't remember that part.
  7. You seem salty for no reason. Perhaps take your aggression out elsewhere. Perhaps try a pvp server.
  8. ARK was designed to be pvp from the beginning and PvE wasn't even a thought until people started throwing fits so it got added in. Atlas was also designed to be a PVP oriented game so I wouldn't hold out too much hope that it gets specifically balanced around just pve players. They will focus on things that can be changed on both without negatively impacting it or expect you to play on unofficial. The devs said they wanted this game to be similar to EVE or other mass scale style games where politics, wars, alliances, trade, social engineering, etc all take place which they definitely do on PVP servers. Since a lot of the content is pvp oriented, i.e. ship battles, base raiding, a ton of weapons that are useless against anything other than players it's a pretty fair assumption that PVE in this will be treated about the same as it was in ark and other than easy fixes pve probably won't get a ton of love until the game is farther along. The exception might be if people are complaining a lot. The ship weight thing may end up getting addressed somehow if they can do it without breaking the other mechanics associated with it. Can't just turn it off because its important for pvp. Can't turn it off on pve because it important to how many people you can load on your boat, the weight, etc.
  9. Solo players will forever be unhappy and complaining because this game was designed around guild warfare on a large scale. But shrinking max size won't really fix much in regards to their complaints anyway.
  10. It's a fairly "light" system compared to other PVP oriented games. Life is Feudal is skill loss, as was UO back in the day. Going from 100% in a tier 4 skill to 99.4 was a BRUTAL amount of work to get back up. From the little the devs have told us it sounds like there will be 2 fairly straight forward paths to avoid it. Fountain of Youth, which you know the second its found everyone is going to share the info online and having a kid, which breeding in this isn't super complicated.
  11. Had one of our admins in a large guild of 125 make a new character due to another bug problem. He named his character something different. An opposing guild we are at war with then made a new character and used his characters name and they "inherited" ALL of the structures and claims he owned. We almost lost our entire island and base. This seems like a pretty massive oversight. If ownership is going to be tied to character names then you need to at least do a check against guild or account name or SOMETHING to prevent this from happening. That would be a really shitty way to have a guild lose complete ownership.
  12. It's a pretty big deal though when the people complaining about the "over powered mounts" are using the wrong weaponry (cannons) to attack the wrong targets (players and wolves) It may not be realistic but for balance reasons some weaponry is designed to kill players and suck at siege stuff, and vice versa. Now tames will die even faster to wild creatures, which they ALREADY were very weak against and they don't have 2k HP like people seem to have claimed, no where close. For all we know the defenders had some high quality saddles which gave added armor. Had they used some carbines and got a few headshots I bet those wolves would have dropped. The hitboxes are a big issue of course too, but you fix hitboxes, not nerf HP and damage resistance. These sort of things should be tested more internally before they go announcing huge changes. You definitely shouldn't ever make knee jerk changes in reaction to unprepared players who are just not using the mechanics correctly. Sieging someone's base on an island SHOULD be hard to do. It should take planning, resources and time. Tames need to have a purpose besides just harvesting some stuff and with how easily they die in the wild to low level mobs (let alone alphas) there isn't a ton of use after this nerf hits other than gathering.
  13. It's pretty likely once it gets added in there will be a feature to disabled it for private servers.
  14. Ballista on ships are meant to be used against predators and agressive sea monsters. Cannons are meant to do damage against structures and ships. They both suck if you use them for what they aren't designed for.
  15. This is designed to be a guild based MMO. Devs even stated if you tried to do it solo you're gunna have a bad time and you would get locked out of some content. If someone chooses to do it solo that's totally fine with me, but realistic expectations need to be set when you choose to play a game a different way then the devs designed it for. I'm not a fan of having my gameplay experience changed when it was fine the way it was, because of people who demand the game be changed for them when they chose to play it the hard way. Yeah, we do need that happy medium to be found and whenever they do get around to adding more skills, sure. Currently though it's pretty easy to level if you want (without guides and playing casually) as it only takes finding alphas and a rock to sit on with a bow. I'm sure they will eventually add more skills in but my point was based on the game as it is, not as it might be. As it stands now they just doubled the points available and with the limited number of useful skill trees in the game there will be a LOT of 'can do almost everything' players, which makes specialization in a guild sort of pointless. I don't think the game should be catering to only large guils, nor to solo or two man teams. Respecing once per level might just be the devs giving us an option so we are encouraged to try and test things and may change as the game pulls along. I'd much prefer respecing to be something you have to work towards somehow, whether its mind wipe style or a quest or breeding. Perhaps once we get further into the EA process and the devs no longer need huge amounts of feedback on the basic skill tree we will see something with a little more permanence.
  16. You are a mytthical creature here on these forums. I didn't think they existed but indeed they do. Finally someone who isn't just complaining or expecting the entire games core design to be changed to their specific desires. Hats off to you!
  17. With the max level literally doubling you will probably be able to learn almost every skill in the game by the time you hit it. Seems like they are catering to the solo player SPECIFICALLY. I liked it better when my trade was unique in my guild and we had to work together to accomplish things people couldn't do solo. Teamwork and playing together is fun.
  18. Spawn points definitely matter but it doesn't invalidate the tactic as a whole or make it less effective during the onslaught. Generally massive guilds that do it spread their rafts and boats out all over the place, or stealth take over a single claim deep in the island somewhere that isn't obvious, or both. Have a horde of beds all over so it's not as easy as killing them all and rushing the beach straight down from your base. If you watch a lot of streamers who pvp a lot, you will even see them fighting naked a lot of the time. They might START geared, but they die once and its much faster and effective to quickly grab one weapon and just charge off the ship (or onto it if you live on the island) than it is to sit there and dig through a cabinet, grab gear, requip, etc. The difference of a minute could be the sinking of a brig or not in pitched battle on the sea or a blown door on a base. Really the specific details don't really matter because this is all theorycraft about the death mechanic any way which isn't implemented and no one has any idea past the little bit the devs said about it on how it will work. There really isn't any point getting upset until they at least give us more detail and start the process.
  19. Yeah, we know. But 2 hours to tame something on my own island vs 8 hours of sailing to come back and tame in 1.... etc. It just gives you more options.
  20. I'm pretty stoked. Our quest for turnips was epic and long. One guildie rafted across entire lines of servers over a weekend trying to find it with no success. We sent out other boats, joined trading channels, asked our alliance members. Nothing. Ended up finding the shithead veggies 2 servers over from home base. Doh. Glad they are making base taming easier but still allowing for 'better' foods. Now we can at least 'mejoberry' tame shit that isn't worth a week of sailing
  21. Mondays patch is a major adjustment on whales.
  22. Please just stop replying to my posts if you don't agree with them. I'm so very tired of arguing with you. You expect everyone else's gameplay to be adjusted to your whim and desires even though its going against what the developers stated their aim was with the system. Not nearly as many people care about their character aging as you do, or how it looks COSMETICALLY in a full loot pvp game. If that is what you are looking for then you probably picked the wrong game and dress up barbie: pirate edition is on sale somewhere I'm sure. You most definitely cant hurt people with fists. I knock people out in 2 to 3 hits. What you don't seem to realize is they aren't just throwing 'any mechanic for the sake of it' in the game. That would imply it has no purpose when it very, clearly, does, and I've explained it I dont know how many fucking times but you choose to just ignore those little bits because it doesn't fit the complaining narrative you want to spin. *I* didn't come up with the idea, the DEVS did and it was stated. You obviously don't play on a pvp server if you think naked zerging isn't a problem. Forsen, a pretty popular streamer known for trolling people, being generally toxic and annoying, and his massive fanbase army was naked zerging shit non-stop since they joined. They somehow managed to claim up quite a chunk of land for having almost no coordination, little to no gear, almost no boats, etc, etc. Then there are the chinese. You must be blind as fuck or have some crazy *selective* reading skills if you somehow can post on these forums or browse reddit without seeing all chinese threads that have been going around since launch. It's pretty well known zerg tactics are used and work. I'm guessing you are one of those small clan or solo players. The same ones that don't understand the flag mechanics if you think naked/minimal gear zerging doesn't work and isn't effective. You also are being selective extremist because everyone knows naked zerging doesn't mean no gear gets used EVER. Naked zerging is all about picking up shit from fallen people, or garbage like spears and tools, taking over my pure numbers then starting to claim and while that happens you have people with gear and what not show up to help hold it. You are, as I said before, someone who is just looking to argue with anyone who doesn't agree with your opinon. You obviously have zero idea how large scale pvp works in this game, almost like you've never done it. Go back to your raft in the freeport man.
  23. Patch on Monday is adding like another 50 max levels or something.
  24. I usually carry meat on me and dont drop immediately if it spoils. IT really helps in these situations. Game could definitely use a TEMPORARY /suicide sort of option until things are more stable, because on pvp its actually a tactic to capture people and you don't want them to be able to kill themselves easily. You handcuff them, knock them out, force feed them, etc while you raid their stuff.
  25. I'd be fine with this as long as the materials are still the fully built materials. Aka you need to go craft a deck, 2 sails, 6 ceilings, etc for a sloop. Not just have XXXX fiber XXXXX thatch and XXXX wood on you. There has to be a balance between easy mode and QOL. If things are TOO fast and easy it will benefit the massive zerg groups more than anyone else and they will pump out new ships as fast as they lose them in battles and such. The tables would be turned far to much in the defenders favor and attacking islands is already super hard.
