  1. I would just be happy if you could tone it down. Like, my toon doesn't have to constantly groan. I get it...I'm injured, hungry, thirsty, etc... I don't need it to be constantly repeated over and over and over.
  2. Yes, and how the toon sounds like he's about to have a heart attack, the second you start to sprint. I see another Mod opportunity. Oh, and I normally take my headphones off for the groaning periods. It is beyond irritating.
  3. Or maybe they can just fix the damn game? Nah...that would make too much sense. And the OP nailed it. The majority of people came here for ships, not animals to fight. The majority of people would be just fine of the wolves, lions, crocs, etc.. were reduced to 1% of what they spawn now, and reduced in power a bit. They aren't why we are here, but they will be why we leave. The devs seem to be too stubborn to understand this.
  4. I fully expect this to be one of the first mods...something that makes the animals make more sense, and removes the Alphas. I will search for a server running it, or start my own to run it.
  5. This is likely that garbage code from ARK. In ARK, if you haven't played it, had a few creatures that would demount you. So on my Quetzal, I decided to make an enclosed cockpit, thinking this would prevent that from happening. Nope, it did not. The creature hits the dino, apparently, and this knocks you off. I was not happy. So it seems this code is now part of that lion grab, so even if you are on a very tall creature, it will still grab you off, because it isn't actually grabbing you...it is interacting with the tame, and the result of the code is that it gets you in it's mouth. I literally hate the animals in this game. I was at our port, which has a hill leading down to it. Lions, and especially Alpha lions charge down that hill and jump...and it's like...is it a bird...is it a plane...no...it's super stupid, the not so friendly flying lion. I kid you not, and Alpha launched off that hill and flew over the shipyard and into the water beyond.
  6. It's easy. When you tame something, let it get hungry. Really hungry. Then try things, one at a time, in their inventory. If it disappears quickly, and their food increases, then they eat that. If it does not, then they do not eat it. I would prefer that they make this realistic, not just realistic when it suits their gameplay. All meat eaters should eat raw and cooked meat and fish. Seagulls should eat many things. Bears should eat just about anything. Rabbits should eat any veggie...maybe berries too.
  7. I just tell them the truth...it's horrible at the moment, so save your money for now.
  8. If somebody makes a mod to remove Alphas, I will start my own server, if that's what it takes to have it. Other mod I want, is one that places the ferns everywhere so that fiber isn't in just a few small areas on the large Island I am on. But what would be the best mod, is one that makes taming an animal, resemble something that would actually tame an animal. I didn't think anything could be worse than ARK, but Grapeshot proved me wrong. This taming system looks more like animal abuse, than taming.
  9. They are trying everything they can think of to run off those who haven't already quit.
  10. And try to make it done in manner that doesn't resemble animal abuse. So, for giggles, I figured I would tame a level 42 wolf I spotted near my base. Got it down in health, and bola'd it, and fed it until I had to bola it again. This time, and the next 3 times, it's face was in the terrain, so I don't get the feed option. So I keep moving to find the option, and every time, the wolf kills me. 3 more times having to bola it, and the same thing happens. So I couldn't be bothered anymore, and killed it. Mods can't get here soon enough.
  11. We had a new recruit turn out to be a griefer. This is what he named our first Brigantine. I notified the Devs, and even talked to one in game. They did nothing about it, and this was about 3 days before the SotD zerg soft wipe...which is how I know it was a soft wipe to reduce the number of big ships in the game, after the skill tree was made harder through more cost per skill, and slower level progression.
  12. I would think it would be harder to sink a Gallon, than a Quart, or a Pint...but that's just me. I keed, I keed!
  13. Also, as I read this, some things stood out to me. When you happen across somebody's hidden base, and bypass their turrets to raid while they are offline...that is NOT PvP. It's the pure definition of PvE. You are not fighting against a player. You are fighting against AI, which let's face it, is no different than playing a single player game, except that the level designer was a player, who has limited tools to present a challenge to you. I have found many single player games, far more challenging than raiding the base of somebody who is offline. It's just not a challenge to raid a base in ARK. It's a simple process that everyone knows how to do. And all the advantages are on the side of the attacker. All of them. So, if you plan a raid...a major raid on somebody's base, the planning and prep often takes time. All a war declaration system would do, is give the other side the same ability to plan and organize. Ah, but there goes your easy victory. You actually have to be better than the other side, to win, and get in their base.
  14. The more I see these forums, the more I realize the genius of some of the devs who made/are making games I loved or know I will love. The Devs of WWIIOL knew that people would not stick around to be the target of other people. People play to enjoy themselves. They envisioned a game where the majority of players had roughly a 1/1 K/D ratio. They were very close to that in the end. Chris Roberts understands this concept also. People won't stick around to be a punching bag for the elite players. So the plan is that in Star Citizen, 9 of 10 ships, or people you meet in game, will be NPCs. This means that literally everyone can be successful, if they at least try...from the worst player, to the best player. I would love to see something similar in this game.
  15. No, I want real PvP. What passes for PvP in ARK, and this game now, isn't real PvP. It's just not. When I played WWIIOL, I always chose the side that I viewed as having the harder time of it. Sometimes, that was due to the player numbers, with one side being badly out-gunned. Other times, it was due to the tier of equipment that was presently in the game. Each campaign, that could last months, had a progression from tier 0 to tier 3, and each tier shifted the balance as the vehicles were accurately modeled, for the most part, and thus not equal. I liked the challenge of using tanks as an underdog. I was always in the top 25 tankers, on the top 100 list. Always. And unlike the others on that list, I did not cut supply for easy kills, so I had a much lower Time On Mission than the others on the list. I like a challenge. I do not, however, like to waste my time on a game that has my failure hard coded into the game. Here's an example...I watched a famous ARK YouTuber take his large crew to raid somebody else's base. He admitted that this other crew was harassing his crew's shipping too much, so something had to be done. Read that as his guys were being bested at sea. So the response was an assault on their base, that took up an entire, very small island. Much smaller than the one we are set up on. So as I watched it, I see things pop out at me. Mainly, that while defenders were online, there weren't a lot of them, so the death messages weren't that many. That's actually how I knew there weren't that many defenders. Just a few of them. So I dislike the way this game can works, which is just like ARK. You see, you could totally own another group, every time you meet them in open combat, in the wild, but all they have to do, to win, is schedule a raid, where they have the majority of their players online for the event, but your crew thinks it's just another day, so many are doing real life things. School work, chores, taking the wife on a date, etc... So your base is either undefended, or hopelessly under defended. That is not interesting to me, to be on the attacking side, and frustrating to be on the defending side.
  16. Who played Morrowind? Remember how that game worked leveling up? The more you fired a bow, the more the skill progressed. The more you ran, and jumped, the more your athleticism increased. The more you cast spells, the more that skill increased. I would like to see something similar. The more you shoot bows, the more skills unlock...strong arm...steady aim...armor piercing...and add quicker reloads, without a silly Atari 1600 style mini game. The more you carry heavy loads, the more your ability to carry heavy weight increases. The more you ride, animals, the more you unlock, so you start out riding level one, and progress up to higher tiers. Crafting tools and weapons? You start out making stone, and progress up to better and better stuff, and as you get even better, it takes less and less materials to do so. Wouldn't a master craftsman waste less materials? Anyway, smash the like if you would like to see something like this, and leave a comment. I am curious to see what the rest of you Pirates think.
  17. This game is NOT an EA game. EA games are not supposed to be missing mechanics, whose lack inclusion is game breaking. This game has that game breaking lack of inclusion...specifically the lack of ability to keep a ship safe when you log off. When you do log off, that ship is at the total mercy of the community. If they see it, and want to sink it, they can and nothing stops them. Nothing at all, unless they are an idiot, and begin firing from a spot in the firing ark of the AI cannons onboard...in other words, off the ship's beam. This game, and ARK, needed AI that keeps your base totally safe...totally...unless a group declares war on you...a declaration with a delay timer of something like 24 hours, that allows you time to organize a defense. The incredible lack of PvP in the PvP of ARK, and now this game, is mind boggling. Good game design encourages PvP. Poor game design rewards avoiding PvP in a PvP game. Raiding bases where nobody is home, is NOT real PvP, regardless what the server name is. Raiding lightly defended bases is NOT good PvP. It's equivalent to clubbing baby seals. Not much challenge in it. I guess some of us just want more challenge.
  18. Understood, but the point I am making is that all things being equal, the claimable lands should be similar in total threat to the players, with each area just presenting unique challenges, but the overall level of challenge should be similar, even if not 100% equal. Right now, the game is out of balance in every single aspect of it, and some critically so, with ships costing a lot to make, but so easy to sink by one player, or a ship, or anything, and no way at all to protect it while offline. People need to stop calling this EA, because EA does not cover games that have game breaking lack of mechanics. This game does.
  19. That's not completely true. Yes there are those who make empty threats, but there are just as many who did have high hopes for the game, and who make the statement out of frustration. People who are frustrated, don't tend to stick around, if the frustration is not ended. Gamers want to be challenged, not frustrated.
  20. So in this game, once it is fleshed out, the more you trade with the NPCs, the better you get at it, and the better the prices, etc.. Also, the more this allows you to level up. Same for all skills. Also, if you are not in a Mega, why are you playing on official? That is a train wreck with that restrictive skill point and skill tree system. I am also in a 10 man tribe, and found it too hard to get things done because we too, also only have 4 very active players, but I am the most active, and I cannot stand having progress stop, just because the person to craft foundations is not online, or the person to craft tools, or guns, etc...are not online.
  21. How about making gathering, and crafting, matter more for gaining levels. For a game that seems to want people to specialize, it sure seems to have a singular focus on combat. Frankly, I liked the way Morrowind had you level up. The more you actually used a skill, the better you got at it...the more that skill leveled up. I have never seen a single thing that beats that system for immersion.
  22. BTW, it's not just the fiber. It's all resources. Grinding is not what I enjoy in a game. Some people do. To me, it's a time waster. It's a means to an end. A way to get out on the seas in a ship full of cannons, to dual with another pirate.
