  1. To be completely fair, you can breed bears at least. You just have to no life the fuck out of it and most people don't want to spend 16+ hrs on a "maybe" situation when they can go tame a sure thing in 20-30 minutes.
  2. They won't be removing it and the overlap bullshit should be fixed definitely. No one said kiss ass, we said diplomacy they are not always mutually exclusive but if you are immediately assuming that diplomacy just means kissing ass then you likely went right the other direction and started making demands. Did you assume that in an MMO game that you wouldn't have to deal with players at all just because you chose PVE? It's an MMO, you still have to at least talk to people. Like I said I can happily point you to a tundra area that last I checked had a large amount of land still open(lawless) that you can live on. If you want claimed you will have to sail for it a bit but it's definitely out there.
  3. It's the "I don't like quest markers" mentality. I'm all for a challenging game but if my challenge is really coming from where to properly place my shipyard I think I need both a mental check and a new game. It's already a check for when it's too deep to place, is it really so hard to expect the same check for when it's too shallow to place?
  4. Real life mechanics can be implemented into a game as a model, this does not always mean they work but it is something game developers tend to do. I fyou don't actually understand that you've got another lesson to learn in life. As far as griefing, taxation is not a form of griefing no matter how much you don't like it. I've traveled the map plenty and while yes most people do keep their taxes at 30% there are a large majority that are seeing "lower taxes = more farming = more taxes". As an example during 2x weekends/holiday bonus events we dropped taxes on our island from 20% to 10% and ended up with nearly triple the materials from doing so because everyone was sailing to farm to our area. Taxation is a thing in many many games and acting like it should be stable and appease everyone in the first few months of the games release is just childish and very short sighted. Things will stabilize soon enough. Especially if these options open up and you can make trade negotiations with companies/allies for reduced tax rates and so on.
  5. Trying to motivate him a bit in a positive direction. You may well be right though a lot of people who come here to complain about land seem to be having the same problem, which is a complete lack of ability to speak to other human beings other than demanding things from them.
  6. Lvl 61 and can go to lvl 64. People are toxic yes, but there is most definitely still land out there to claim and even rent some that isn't even taxed. This is an MMO PVE game and taxation/land claim is part of that MMO piece. I can quite literally point you to lawless territory that is untaxed if you want to put up with that part of it. Otherwise I'd recommend talking to people in the areas that you visit and see what you can do as far as getting land through diplomacy/trade. As for the land you already have simply tell them no and report them for griefing you. You don't have to give in to their demands to leave if you don't want to.
  7. Because bad logic. Side Note: More people doing a treasure map usually means more gold the number on it is the "minimum" gold you can obtain from it.
  8. Depends on how it works in there. If you leave them in the smithy and the next blueprint down just drops them on an available stack then it is entirely possible and likely a bug. But either way if it allows it to stack then yeah it's entirely possible to get the same bonus on them like that.
  9. That second image makes the point he was making for him. Because they stack they do have the same bonus. As for the other gear yea that's a much harder one to explain but the gunports and other stackables would be like that.
  10. Longer post so I'll just include this weekend. Saturday we had made plans to take a whaling schooner down to O7 in order to complete a few tasks. The first of which was going to be a Journeyman Treasuremap which would've netted us quite a bit of gold and exp. The next task was going to be defeating the boss and getting the powerstone for that region. Unfortunately on the way there myself and my crew mate ended up being a part of the "Steam Outage" which lead us to not being able to connect for several hours. I came back on a few hours later to find myself swimming in the middle of the ocean, he successfully sailed the boat back home already so we were just out what gear I had(all common stuff). Sunday I spent the day on the unofficial gathering up materials and taming up a new bear(lvl 29 female) gonna include her in a future breeding program. I also setup a tattoo parlor or at least the beginnings of one that once I have a bit more art setup will be available for use on the server. Current Objects(Official): Increase the efficiency of our battle brig in D2. Build a second Cargo Brig for transporting goods. Current Objects(Unofficial): Get a mobile base schooner under way to transport personal tames to a new outpost. Begin gathering materials for a dwarven outpost in the tundra section of the map.
  11. Like I said, being over dramatic and claiming it's this huge problem that isn't is just silly. The claim flags even come with a neutral flag option to allow building in the territory. Taxation is not a huge problem, and you aren't building a galleon a day from 30% tax, stop trying to use hyperbole to make your point it just makes it look like you don't actually play the game.
  12. I'm gonna guess you completely missed the memo or really haven't looked into anything at all about this game. The creators of this game are a side company of WildCard(creators of Ark). The base engine seems to be an older version of the current Ark engine. Either way servers and game aren't gonna shut down because your unhappy with some things that they put in place. Not all games are for all people. Add in the fact that this is an EA game and things are gonna change constantly for the next 2 years, if you wanted a full release game complete that doesn't change you are in for a bad time.
  13. Had this same problem on the elephant but it was right by it's face whether it was sticking through something or not. I could only feed it by it's belly which was fine except when it pinned me into a corner and bashed me until I died several times.
  14. Like I said claiming something is killing the game is just this weeks overdramatic post. You are no exception no matter how much you spam the forums. Does the tax system need to be better built out yes. Is the existence of the tax system killing the game no.
  15. Pillar Spam does not equal Land Claims / Taxation. Lawless has pillar spam and if left on it's own they would be barren islands. Land claims prevent building in some areas protecting resources(while you may not agree with it, that is in fact a use). Taxation is just not built out enough in all honesty. Claiming something is a problem killing the game every single week doesn't actually make it a problem
  16. Because he isn't the one getting the 30%.
  17. Then go request a refund, hopefully you have a valid case to obtain it.
  18. Simple solution add offline raid protection, prevent structures/tames/boats from being damage while players are offline. Since this is a multi server game could just make this a "No players are online in this region" setting to prevent damage.
  19. SotD can aggro to players as players can attack and sink it with melee items(takes more time than is worth doing).
  20. You would have to account for time zones across regions. The OP's suggestion works because it accounts for this by allowing the end user to set this. Your suggestion would require the server to track the time zone you are in based on your IP and then apply the safety net at the correct time. This adds a detriment to the sever as well as an easily abused system for people who have access to VPN's(toss themselves into a different zone and get protection while they are online then back to their normal zone so they get it while they are offline as well).
  21. Yeah until they solve it(again), you basically have to stay there until they are 100% fully matured. Personally I'm giving the thing a pass for now until I have a super long weekend and some people to help with the one project, or they get things fixed a bit better.
  22. From what I've seen they disappear after several days.
  23. No, stasis is what occurs when no one is around or within render range. It's basically a server performance thing everything gets set to freeze until the area needs to be rendered again.
  24. You aren't missing anything. This was an early issue with breeding in Ark regarding tames and stasis. Basically the issue is that upon leaving stasis the server will try to calculate all of the changes that should have occurred during the stasis, since creatures at the lower stages of maturation go up and down like crazy on their HP/Food stats stasis tends to kill them.
  25. I run a cargo schooner with a friend from time to time and if we aren't sailing into an island there is about a 90% chance we are just willing to walk away every now and again to go grab a drink/food. I've quite literally never ran into a problem with outrunning them after the first patch that nerfed them. I've done this as recently as yesterday night. How heavy were you running this brig and how close to the SotD were you getting?
