I'm tempted to say I feel like there ought to be a better way to go about accomplishing what they're trying to accomplish, but then I think I would start to get into that territory of talking about stuff I have no experience with. @Winter Thorne or @Doc Holliday or other technically versed people with a background in the industry might be able to speak to this more directly, but I'm not going to say beyond what I've already said, which is if you're going to do it this way, make sure everyone on Xbox knows what the upside is for them.

PC players are lab rats for the Xbox build, testing it during the 10 day head start to ensure a smoother launch for all xbox players. So the benefit to xbox players is a smoother launch for the Xbox build. At least that is what Jat is saying, if I understood him correctly.

Okay so if I understand you correctly the reason Xbox players should cool their jets about pc pvp players getting the 10 day head start is that data collected from it should help ensure a smoother launch for them? If this is correct, then let me humbly suggest that you cannot possibly over communicate this too much in the next 10 days. Consider getting a tattoo. Pay Realist to stand outside the forums with a sandwhich board. Maybe hire a blimp. Run an ad on Sunday Night Football. Make sure they understand the benefit to them.

I’m still confused on a point. If you needed to do a wipe for technical reasons sure, I’m with you. But once you need to do that, in the long term will the 10 day head start pc pvp players are getting really help iterate the Xbox build that much more? I’m asking because even though I have little sympathy with their complaint or the soundness of its u derlying argument, as a layman this approach does come off as perhaps arbitrarily punitive. Are you saying definitively that the additional 10 days of testing data pc players will provide during this time is needed for long term success?

I think that Atlas as a concept and some aspects of its implementation to date holds significant potential. I’m aware that the opera ain’t over til the fat lady sings, and I remain hopeful that they can produce a quality game, but so far no one can reasonably say things have gone well. Ask around, I’m a very fair minded guy, but this development team is pretty much the poster children for how not to do an Early Access game. I’m not saying they are bad people, but bring called one of their number undercover cannot reasonably be viewed as a positive association.

Here’s the thing, the game actually hasn’t had much new content since launch. There’s an ice dungeon. That’s pretty much it for new dungeons. There’s a new underwater trench. There will be new island templates. That’s it for new explorable areas. They added a submarine that you have to defeat the Kraken to unlock. That’s it for new ships. They will be adding a new hydra six shot pistol. That’s it for new gear. The following creatures have been added: Cats Giant turtles Giant Squids Seahorses Some weird thing with a funny nose that holds water, Olfend I think it’s called. Yup, that’s pretty much it. 9 months in and that’s pretty much all that’s new since you left. If you come back your chances of finding a place will improve. Just can’t honestly tell you there will be much new to do once you’ve done that.

I second this. Lord knows nobody knows better than me that Realist can drive you to distraction sometimes, but he has proven to me over time that he's a fundamentally decent person, even if he seems a bit misguided at times. None of us is perfect and the best example any of us can set is to help each other out, so good for you EC (I'm not typing that long thing out).
