Summed up in short Pre-crafted ships are Garbage. The excuse that exploits on ships are rampant is so lazy. No Blueprints, no use for resources, no use for sails. Just cookie cut versions that the devs which we already know are terrible at designing and implementing let alone following through with their ideas promised to expand upon. How? By allowing you to build 40 structures on the boat. Oh gee... They still have not fixed the bug where the precrafted ramming galleon's nose of the ship when down to 0 hp from 15k instantly sinks the boat despite the rest of the ship being repaired. If they cannot fix a precrafted ship thats been in the game since the start of the season why would you think they could bring in new boats that arent as broken if not more broken that what is currently in game. (wild how their solution to fixing something is to bring in a totally new system that's more flawed than the last) Some dev justified their job somehow by suggesting this swap is my guess. What are your thoughts about these pre-crafted ships and their effect on the future of PVP in the game. PVE aside. Also i feel the devs are brain dead with the new claim system they fail to realize mortars are a structure in this game capable of cross island hits. How are you going to defend against mortars when part of the island is in peace mortaring your part of the island in The new Kraken ship cannot turn without the sails open HOLY Crap thats terrible the new kraken ship also when the front or back plank are 0 hp Instantly sinks. Man Imagine still having a known bug in the "new" boat system and then adding onto it. If they implement the new system they should get rid of craft limits on blueprints and let it be like ark.We also neeed BP CRAFTING STATIONS to Craft the blueprints that require ALLOT of resources 500 slots please... This would make people farm more for resources not grind out RNG (what is this a fucking casino? ) for a bp that goes away after 2 fucking crafts or 5 sails.. after 5 months of looking for it.. that's garbage and you know it. We deserve infinity crafts on blueprints just like ark...this will push an economy into the game because you can sell pre-crafted boats for in game gold or other Blue-prints. New players could find a great gun port blue print or sniper or Armour and trade it for anything with another. If a mega tribe has multiple sail bps over a certain % it's in their best interest to trade them for things they lack.... Every one clutches their boats like pearls bc they are afraid to lose something they invested 4 months farming for. RNG in this game i repeat is garbage and you know it. NO ONE QUITS A GAME BECAUSE THEY CAN CRAFT AS MANY BOATS AS THEY WANT. combat.? @devs

guess you are all PVE players... in PVP speed is everything... 40 structure limit? he who uses less wins... or at least gets away not sinking... you might see a armored ship... on PVP it looks like a slow moving easy target... not even need to bar shot it... just run circles around it outside its cannon arcs... and the other thing is in fleet battle: less individual structures = less lag = less turn-based combat feeling... the module system might bring real customized ships back to Atlas... where the modules give specific buffs with real usefulness for your play style... not what we have now, where the main stat for a combat ship is it's weight ratio...

I do understand that it's fun to do custom ship building, to set your design etc, but current ship building system leads to this: I mean it also some king of fun, but... as for me, totally wrong, and ruin all sailing age romance. Most of all - current ship system made the way, that we just need 3 ships. - Small and fast one - Schooner. - Battle ship - Brig. - Large carrier and fast one - Galley. All different purposes of ships made by our customs. Wanna more armor - add roofs, walls and ceilings armor as in picture above. Need more firepower - add some guns to deck and custom floors, etc. So we have like base (Schooner, Brig and Galley) and infinite amount of ship types - all your imagination came to. BUT!!! All of this: "I make ship for my playstyle" will anyway lead to only meta. And if you wanna survive, you'll anyway need to build a meta design. Usually it stupid looking. New ship system with modules leads us to more real like ships. I mean from the picture above to these: The only thing DEVs made wrong with Ramming Galley is made it all from "blocks". What they should do is: a) - Keep current frame, planks/gunports, decks (and current way to paint all). b) - Instead of separate sails - introduce "rigging". One piece of equipment, contain all masts, cables, ropes, ladders, flags, AND SAIL SPOTS were we then put sails of our choice (square or triangles). No more weight sails. c) - Each deck should have square holes - those are spots for modules. The modules I see: - Cockpit - wide back part of ship with our room (bed for respawn, chest for gold, steering wheel on top of it) - Berth (for crew, the more we have, then more crew we can hire). - Cargo hold (for all our stuff. More we have - more cargo we can carry. All cargo holds connected together AND CONNECTED TO DINGHY. We can easily oneclick transfer cargo from ship to dinghy, which also have storage box). - Ammunition - just one requires. Storage box for all our firearms balls, bolts, etc. - Supply - just one requires. Small room with mess table, grille, food storage bags and water barrel. - Small and large cages for tames transfer. No more tames in decks and no more elephants in sloop (also no more tames loosing in waters). - Masterworks - just one requires. Small room contains smithy, mortar and pestle, and some kind of small forge. - Outside attachements. Maybe some pirate stuff, like armored room for valuables. Prison - for hostages, etc. I dunno. Just because each ship has limited size of deck - we can not put all... I mean, with large frigate we can, but smaller ship, requires us to think - what do we need. So all our customization will be within our choice. Wither we need fast cargo vessel (then we have just few berth for sails crew, and else in cargo holds), or war machine (then - alot of berths for gun crew, and gunports) etc.. d) - Add some beautification layer (like lanterns set, some figures set, head figure etc). And most important for DEVS. All those modules, rigging, beautifications might be in different styles. Like southern style. Nordic style. Etc. And DEVs can either sell addition styles as DLCs (I would buy all), or even put them to "lootboxes" and sell lootboxes. So more real income will come for game support. That Atlas I would gladly play. With NO shotguns ships. NO roof covered rhombus ships. NO six masts vessels. Yes to jib and mizzen sails. Yes to boardside battles. Definitely NO to this!

Let's have a conversation here Grapeshot. When ATLAS was first announced, the trailer featured a pirate port with pistol duels and gallows. It featured a host of mythical beasts, all deeply unfriendly. It featured epic naval battles on ships that looked like ships. Later, we are told, (in a very obscure way) about the lore and how the Damned and Kraken tie into it all. Most people are either ignorant to the lore, or think "hey that's neat." Some time down the line, we get the Trench. Visually, it's beautiful. Unfortunately, despite being at the sea floor, it's shallow as a puddle. It was also at this point the animals started to become more of a focus. The crabs were a weird choice. They serve no real purpose to players. They're just an ARK boner. Some time later, I don't really remember when, we get the Snow Cave. Fantastic looking dungeon. Terrible choice of occupants. Why the hell is it full of animals, when it could be full of NPC pirates, with a final boss called Frostbeard or something? So let's fast forward to now. It's quite a thing to allow people to tame dolphins and seahorses. I get it, someone on the team REALLY likes Aquaman. So, why then, have you not provided more Atlantis-themed content than the one Trench? Why are none of the buildings in that trench open to exploration? The possibility for story-telling in a sunken lost city is immense. Capitalise on it. Here's some ideas; Open the buildings up to exploration, rewarding Atlantean themed loot. Remove the skins from the vendor. Let people find Atlantean armour down in the trenches. Tridents. Diaries. Food and drink recipes. Skins for cannons. Statues that can be reforged into figureheads. Rare spawn Lost Atlanteans who can be subdued by reducing their health and recruited to crew your ship, stronger than regular crewmen. Doors that lead to mini-dungeons that can only be completed on foot. Quest givers. Maybe a sad, lonely, Atlantean warrior who remembers the war that destroyed the city and asks you to find relics of the past. Or hell, why not have the hecking City of Atlantis be a random encounter at sea. Imagine the spectacle of an entire city of ghosts rising out of the water for your crew to explore. All of those things sound a lot more interesting than using a dolphin or seahorse as an outboard motor. P.S. A cryopod equivalent would be immensely useful, especially with sea tames. And we all know it does wonders for server lag. So hey, there's another; The Atlanteans had Soul Spheres that they used to safely store and transport their aquatic buddies. The Snow Cave. A beautiful dungeon full of opportunity for story telling. Instead, yetis. Why is there an abandoned city under the ice? Who lived here? What did they leave behind? Was it pillaged? By pirates? Where are they? Why is there only one dungeon??? This is ever the problem with the game. NONE of the ideas you have get fleshed out, there is just the bones of an idea. Ships. So recently, we've finally got a new ship. It's a mixed bag. On the one hand, the new damage system is great. More patching holes, less vanishing planks. On the other hand, a massive shield box on the front of it, holding 2 large cannons? On one hand, oars! Yay! Alternative locomotion! (P.S. Where are our paddle wheels and steam engines?) On the other hand, incredibly limited ability to design the ship yourself. If personalised designs are the issue, implement fixes to them rather than trying to circumvent it by killing the system a lot of people enjoy. No walls outside of ship rail bounds. Cannons can't be placed above other cannons on the same deck. Or, let's go full Conan Exiles and require structural stability. The Kraken Ship. So much potential. Could have been a nice ship for those that don't want to spend time building one, fitting in size between sloops and schooners. Torpedoes though? I'm not convinced pirates used many torpedoes, especially ones that have missile guidance. Why not just allow people to put cannons on it? Regarding Torpedoes, if they're needed in the game (spoiler; they're not) why aren't there options for a more basic torp launcher that just fire in a straight line once launched? Torp and launcher itself just made of good ol' brass or something. Similar deal with the submarine. The original single man sub would fit great in the game for salvaging and trench exploration, and was basically a bicycle inside an iron ball with a breathing line. I could go on, but to summarise; stop half-assing things. Whole-ass one thing at a time. Expand on your ideas, rather than constantly adding new flavours to an already very jumbled soup. There are so many good ideas, but none of them are explored even close to their full potential and that is a huge shame. Remember the original direction of the game that got people excited. Expand on that.

It would be nice to see some more realistic Pyrate ships available. The fantasy theme is ok, but not everyone wants to sail around in a ship that looks like it was built for squidly diddly.

It's really gr8 to see that we've got updates once a week. It means DEVs are with us, and didn't drop the game. As for a ship above I just wanna repeat what I said earlier. Ship looks cool. Sails looks wrong, due to lack of cables from forward to backward of ship. In past times there were a lot of cables connect all masts altogether and ship from forward to backward part of a ship. Like here: I mean we not necessary need this kind of net, but I really do hope, that one day we'll have this rigging equipment with ladders, masts, ropes cables, flags and sailspots alltogether. And if ship building system will turn to something this-like: I'll be glad, but... well... those ramming and new one prefab ships will be out of this system, so... maybe you introduce all "new ship system" and "sails overhaul" first, and then work new ships??? And yeah. Wipe guys. Can you at least tell us, will it be soon, or a bit later?

Ahoy Pathfinders! Conch here, bringing the latest edition of Atlas Community Q&A with the Devs! While murky waters and stormy seas may alter the exact timelines in the future, the Atlas crew will continue to provide more engagement opportunities during the off-weeks between patches. It may be through Q&A or may be a fun community event or two, but like a pesky barnacle on your broadside, we'll be making it tough to leave us in the wake. Teaser Hmm? This seems familiar. How does it go? Release the... something something? Well, thanks to my parrot postal friend, this image just landed on my shore. Apparently, she was recently spotted out in the deep sea, headin' our way! She's definitely a beauty... so, can anyone spare a coin or two so I can take her for a test sail? Shells don’t get a lot of loot these days. As a reminder, before we get into Q&A, with all the new features we provide, there is also significant development going on with optimization and maintenance of the current game. Again, these teams work in tandem and you can expect the major patches with overhauls or additions to some of the major gameplay components to come in due time. Meanwhile, to make sure our fellow pathfinders don't feel like they're overboard without a life preserver, we'll be releasing additional smaller content continuously until the big items we’re working on are ready to set sail. The ships to a better ATLAS have already charted their course and shoved off, but until then, doesn't mean we can't take a ride on a dolphin or seahorse and enjoy the voyage. Without further ado, here’s our Q&A! Hang out at our Discord for a chance to get your questions answered in the next Q&A! Q&A Does the dev team have any thoughts on merging EU and NA pvp or maybe merging all of the servers to make 1 big megamap? Yeah. We understand that this would be a lot of fun from the perspective of increasing the populations, but we're not ready to do this yet for two reasons: 1. We are concerned about lag when people are playing in distant servers (we locate the servers near where people are playing, so EU servers are in EU and any NA players going to those servers would suffer more lag). 2. There would always be a time when roughly half the population would be sleeping and thus easy pickings. Overall, we think that this will add to frustration until we have implemented ways of players protecting their stuff when offline. Have you thought about making less planks needed on the lowest layer of ship building? Yes. The new ship system will handle this much better once it rolls out. How does the team feel about setting minimum stat values for blueprints at each rarity and adjusting the maximums, so that 300% cannons as an example cannot exist and so mythical blueprints that are no better than common ones don’t exist either? There is a huge balance pass in progress for blueprints right now. Please let us know what you think once it's done. Are there any plans to reduce stun duration with shield bash or even use a diminish return so it isn't an indefinite lockdown? Yes. There is a lot about combat that really bothers us and stun locking is number one. It's on the list. Are there any plans for more "old style" ships to be released (build from frame up ones) or will all future ones at this point be prebuilt? The new system contemplates a more modular design that isn't as intricate as the old system and isn't "prebuilt". For now they are as we work on the system, but ultimately it will be a modular system that allows you to swap components and create ships with different functions without allowing for the crazy exploits that the current system permits. It will also be more performant which should improve frame rate. Any plans for bigger structures, like sea-walls/gates? So there's less need of overbuild harbours with thousands of structures? Absolutely. We have this on our radar and will be looking into it as soon as time allows. We hear you. When can we expect more pvp balances to come? It would be great if players could provide a detailed list of changes they would like to see in the Discord channel. We have a long list of things we're fixing from the old team and putting a complete and forward thinking list up in the discord channel is the single best way to be heard. This goes out to all our players, not just Official PVP. (For example, last week’s survey was based on a compiled list of player concerns) When will the SoTD loot table be fixed? Also the instant/infinite respawn of Sea Fort tax banks? Will there be some tweaks also to the market/warehouse/farmhouse structures to limit companies from spamming them so that new/returning players can have a chance to get their markets up? Consider them all added to the list. Cheers! Will we see a new bossfight anytime soon? Not for a while. We have to fix all the broken stuff and introduce new features first. In general, Bossfights didn't work well and were easily exploited. Will Seahorses and Dolphins eventually be able to follow behind ships? Yes. We are also looking into having them pull ships for speed and maneuverability. Any update on tradewinds? They are coming. :). We are still working on them and they should be here at the end of Q2 beginning of Q3. It might be sooner but don't want to promise it sooner than that. Any ETA on some bug fixing and stability patches? We run patches roughly every 2 weeks. There are a number of fixes associated with each patch so we are doing this constantly. If your particular issue isn't being surfaced, please join our discord and let it be known there. Final Note Again, we would like to emphasize that ATLAS is still in Early Access, meaning many things can and will likely continue to drastically change - even in the middle of development. Anything discussed is only up to date as of the moment it is posted. Features and changes that ultimately make it to the next patch, as well as timing, may be different from what was previously discussed. As always, we appreciate the suggestions and feedback from the community. Please keep them coming! Thank you for all of your support!
