Instead of bigger islands costing more gold, you make each hex cost the same gold. You buy enough shore and bay for your base, nobody can build on it but the owner. You want to own the entire island, buy all the hexes. Instead of using squares that can turn only 90 degrees borders, hexes have 60 degree borders. That is what makes them easier to follow shorelines. The original flag system you bought circles and it was a disaster because of overlapped circles bug griefing. With hexes there is no overlap. You do not want neighbors and their griefing structures buy enough hexes to keep them away. You will never see it in the game because metas want to own the entire map square, they do not want you sharing an island. With expanding circles if you wanted the eastern island you would have to claim all the islands as they will be caught in your radius. With resizable rectangles you would have to buy that tiny middle island. With same size hexes you could buy only the eastern island and leave the others up for grabs.

Ok, I play PVE, and last week I was on my leveling and discoveries mission. I also leveled my battle brig for 50+ Galley quest. And I meet some weird issue within loot. Treasure hunting. So far I dug about 45-50 maps lvl 10-15. I've got tons of different stuff! From useful bp of weapon and armor to totally useless like mythical TINY shipyard, or mythical shovel with 160% damage (like hell any1 wanna this one). I also got about 20000 gold already. And guess what I didn't get at all? I mean NOT A SINGLE ONE, even common quality? Small and Large shipyard. Yeah, I've got my basic vessels. Right now I don't build rare BPs for them because I plan to obtain better shipyard, give away my current ships and build advanced ones. So I just wanna ask - are those shipyards THAT rare? I mean how many maps should I do, before get one? 100? 200? And how many maps should I do to dig one with good stats? 1000? 2000? Should I go treasure hunting for 6 month every day to finally get that damned shipyard for better quality ships? Any purpose for that? I mean... I already done both whales and took down lvl-60 Galley. I soon probably go Ghost Ship, then Kraken and with that my ship mission will be done! --------------------------- Same with damned ship loot. I already took down about 30-40 lvl 25+ Damneg Galleys. I've got tons of different stuff. From useful cannons and planks blueprints to useless like legendary mortair, barshots, small weightsails etc. And guess what I didn't get at all? I mean NOT A SINGLE ONE, even common quality? Large sails. Speed sail. Handling sail. Weight sail. I've got like 20 medium one, 30 small one. And not a single large. Even after I took down lvl-60 Galley, I've got just masterwork wooden ceiling (120% sturdiness) and 250 golds (also lvl-135 crew. They are not lvl up BTW). So here is the same question. Are those big sails THAT rare? How many galleys should I take down? 50? 100? Should I down like 500 galleys within 6 months of playing to get a single large speed sail with good stats? Any purpose for that either? --------------------------- I again wanna tell DEVs! This game right now in "SO MANY EFFORTS, SO MANY SUFFERS! SO LITTLE REWARD!" state. And it simply doesn't make players happy. And every patch the situation getting worse. I don't wanna you to give us everything. There must be element of luck, and challenge. But reward SHOULD ALSO BE REASONABLE! - I run across the world to tame rare animals. - I level them. - I run across the map for treasure. - I got through very risky and dangerous battle. - I got the whole NOTHING as a reward (got some crap I throw away right at the moment I get it).. - Then 40 more runs across the world. 40 more risky dangerous battles. 40 more great NOTHING as a rewards. Things should NOT be like that.

The core of this game is that it is open world, sandbox, and has a persistent world. PVP is something you can do in a sandbox, so it is also probably a core of the game. PVE is just PVP without the PVP. PVP does contain all of the PVE gameplay, and the devs appear to have tried to just develop the game for PVP, then remove the PVP in order to create a PVE only mode. I can't blame them, and I wish they would just develop the game. Nice story, another group of players that play PVE that you missed is the people who realise the PVP mechanics are mostly lame/undeveloped/imba/boring and want to just play the content (lol)

That is what freeports should have been from the beginning, because 40k people rushing into the new season overwhelmed free ports. The reasons for not having instances was PVP - but freeports was non buildable PVE. Each freeport grid could have instead been a stack of instances that are just spun up servers based on capacity. Leave freeport grid you cross into the larger map, go to freeport you cross into your own version of it. It is just a server connection, it does not have to be one to one, it could be one to many. Freeports are unique that they only have basic resources, you cannot get highend blueprint resources. So you have to leave if you want to advance in the game, but it is a safe PVE retreat to repair heal and logoff. his will never happen in a free for all PVP game because it allows people to hide outside the open game world. In single player freeport is buildable and they make great home bases with the vendors being there. If the game ever goes towards PVPVE they could do this but then all the pure PVP will quit as well as the pure PVE. (OK population never got there but it was a design goal so the game should have been designed for it)

I agree totally, you give them concise and precise information and pics if they can be supplied as that will be the kicker.Glad you were helped

There was a LOT of griefing going on at first. I think they have more support now - also they work better on PvE as their general view of PvP is "you got cannons deal with it". My mate had 6 of his friends get banned in the last few months.

Honestly, I've never been able to play an open pvp game on an official server without murderhobos crippling what it could become. There are a sizeable number of roaming reavers that do not seek the challenge and glory of pvp. They seek to hunt the weak and feast upon their tears. There is another group that strategically attacks the weak to keep them weak. Ensuring that they never rise to become a threat or sometimes as leverage to get them to join the larger group like some form of empire. This is more legitimate but still annoying as hell. Losing a ship or a base has a cost, and it does drive an avoidance of fair fights. But some people are just jerks and it's hard to fix that without harming the spirit of the game.

I'm seeing this too, now that I've tried to do a few. I can see that the way in is through the bottom, but try as hard as I can, I can't quite get under the hole to enter because I'm colliding with the sea floor.

THERE SHOULD BE A REASONABLE TIMER ON BEDS MAKES IT VERY HARD TO SAVE YOUR ITEMS WHEN YOU CANT EVEN SPAWN. FURTHER MORE THE SPAWN TIMER AFTER YOU DIE IS RIDICULOUS I DIED 3 TIMES AND GOT AN 8 MIN TIMER WHICH CAUSED ME TO LOOSE EVERYTHING. I UNDERSTAND THE TIMERS ARE IN PLACE TO GIVE THE PEOPLE IN A PVP SITUATION A CHANCE BUT 8 MINS IS VERY EXCESSIVE I DONT BELIEVE A TIMER SHOULD GO ABOVE THREE MINS MAX. ESPECIALLY WITH THE FACT THAT YOU SPEND HALF THE DAY SAILING FROM ONE PLACE TO THE NEXT TO GET MATERIALS AND SO FORTH JUST TO LOOSE IT ALL BECAUSE YOU DIED 3 TIMES AND COULDNT SPAWN BACK IN TO SAVE YOUR STUFF.
