  1. Not one to Boast, but I sunk 3 CSTG Galleons and 6 brigs by myself in their own harbor. And the fact no one was on any of them had nothing to do with my victory over them.
  2. Right, because putting a band-aid on a symptom of a larger problem, doesnt solve the problem, it just makes new ones. Is the Core issue the Lag? The Zoning? Or the SotDs presence at the border? It's an amalgamation of all 3, and addressing an symptom of 1 aspect doesnt solve any of the problem by any stretch. It's going to create a whole pile of new ones.
  3. Nope, nope, nope nope, nope. You guys are all advocating taking sand out of the box because it sounds like it could be a GOOD idea when it's really a BAD idea. As a dude who has on an unfortunate amount of occasions been at the helm fighting 3-6 TPG/CSTG warships, often solo or in groups, zoning happens, sometimes it's a strategic maneuver baiting enemy ships through a zone where you know your buddies are waiting on the other side, sometimes you can play it to your advantage to escape. An Immunity to protect against a PVE element in a PVP game can and will be abused, it will take away actual strategies and replace them with cheese. Ships of the damned are stupid, they have always been bad in all the ways since the game launched, rather than making it worse by putting stupid band aids on the symptom, they should address the actual problem. We gotta take a huge step back and ask ourselves and the Developers, "Why is Gamora?". Because quite frankly they're retarded, how the hell did human critters in this games universe even manage to evolve or invent sailing with these douche bags spawning in random places, why are they even there. Why are they there, why are they damned, why are there more SoDs than players? And how did human critters learn to successfully travel the seas with these hordes of catch you next tuesdays everywhere. The Devs didnt think that far, they just needed something to fill the giant bland boring world they created to occupy sailors time in the worst way ever. Buncha green floating sea chihuahuas nipping at ur heels is the worst. This game needs to take a very serious look at EVE's universe/factions model. SoDs should be mission/specific zone related encounters not the fucking Pidgy's and Ratatas you encounter every 2-3 steps in Pokeman. The Game needs a Core lawful area that is NPC faction controlled, with light amount of pirates, and the further you get away from the core, the less friendly/neutral NPCs and the more pirates you encounter towards the lawless regions, and beyond those you should have your mythic regions with pirates and Sods. Instead we have ZERO pirates and ALL OF THE SODS for no reason other than just because.
  4. GOODNESS GRACIOUS even Jats post in the 'Can we get an update thread" is abysmal news my dude! "Sir your game is broken" "YES! And we have a plan to release it to the XBOX! WITH CROSS PLAY! 5. Just think how much better you could have felt if you spent just 5 minutes reading their updates and "roadmap" and plans for the game before you came to the forums! I am glad we could be great assistance to your laziness.
  6. For what? they've already said they are working on console and getting that launched before they do anything else on PC. What more do you want, you've already been informed you and every other PC player are on the back burner why they push out their cash-grab.
  7. FUN FACT! If you really wanna cheez any huge company, all you need is a Schooner and about 8-9 players. 2 NPC's manning the sails, 1 guy sailing, 6-7 shooting cannons manually, and any extras repairing. Guys all spec'd into fast cannon firing, high grade cannons, blow down a harbor wall, you'll have all their ships sunk in a few minutes. Med cannons with fast reload shoot like machine guns.
  8. https://atlas.gamepedia.com/Lighthouse Says as much in the description, to my understanding it also increases the render distance in proximity to the light house, when we were at war with PCA and they were war dec'ing our islands, we had 4-5 light houses along the whole shoreline to increase visibility so we could glide off our towers with barrels and grenades and intercept their ships. Good times, nothing like getting the jump on an enemy fleet and killing off their NPC crew so your boats can come in and mop up.
  9. Merchant ships spawn because of Player Built Light houses.
  10. I liked Worlds Adrifts take on piracy, if you could intercept or ambush someone elses ship, and kill them and destroy their spawn beacons(I.E Beds), the ship was yours, provided you could put a new beacon on it to spawn with. otherwise it would just be a floating ownerless hulk if you didnt sink it. Anyone could pilot your ship, that was a game that made pirating satisfying, nothing like getting on their ship, and fighting tooth and nail, and maybe in the chaos you get ahold of the helm and pilot that badboy into the abyss. BUT like ATLAS, it had no heart, there was no reason to explore other than to get more Blueprints, and after you got all the blueprints, what was the point? Fighting for the sake of fighting, wandering, surviving for no reason. It died.
  11. Wipe or No Wipe ATLAS has no heart, it's a concept rushed into a playable format, but has no heart. EVE Online has it right. It's heart is Money. You can grind away doing missions of all sorts to get money, blueprints, etc. You can mine away resources and sell em, or craft it into things you can sell. You can steal/pirate. Your incentive for fighting is Money, access to better resources for making better/bigger ships/weapons. Your incentive for staying alive and working as a well coordinated team and surviving, is so you can hold onto your money. Your ego costs money, potentially all of it. In ATLAS, all you have is an ego. I've got a great big pair of balls so I'm going to do this aggressive thing over here because I can, and if I fail, oh well I can have everything replaced easy peazy. There is no loss, special content is locked behind Boss Fights, blueprints are simply luck of the RNG gods, grinding away until you get lucky and finding white/green BP's that take the least amount of resources but have insanely high rolls, and then crafting those with your INT sets to build common/green ships that fight the plebs blue/purple/gold ships and mop the seabed with them. THERE IS NO INCENTIVE FOR ANYTHING IN ATLAS. Nothing has value in the game. The Driving force for any action is simply boredom. No Wipe can fix that.
  12. Do what now? He was referring to other games forums removing 'detrimental' posts and for 'good reasons', and what that traditionally means is any negative criticism, which is in fact sweeping things under the rug, as anything that might prevent a sale from a prospective customer could be considered detrimental. A lot of forums do that, and quite frankly it's in pretty poor taste. I havent noticed it really here, obviously this game has a very large amount of vocal critics as well as defenders, so it's a bit of a moot point for this forum. Tho the suggestion of that level of censorship is quite awful.
  13. There isnt any reason to wipe, unless they are dropping a huge update that requires old or bugged features to be completely removed in order for it to run properly. Just wiping for the sake of wiping isnt necessary, 85+% of the map is completely empty on every server.
  14. Why do they need to wipe? most of the stuff should have auto-decayed by now since there are like only 150 people playing on each server.
  15. Hey dude you know what, that has never in the history of failed games, saved any of those piles of garbage from death. Denying there are problems or sweeping them under the rug only ushers in death faster by not resolving the issues. If you are going to have an open forum, then you have to have the good and the bad, and if the signs point towards mostly bad, then it ought to be addressed by looking at the common complaints of the game and actually addressing them instead of focusing on things no one wants and never asked for, which is a tradition from ARK that has carried over to ATLAS.
  16. Devs make game to be purely multiplayer. Small Demographic want it to have a single player options. Devs pander. Devs go back to working on the primary focus of the game, milking as much money as they can porting it to console. Small demographic "OMG NUUUUUUUUUU DONT FORGOTS ABooooot us pls k thnx" SINGLEPLAYER are standing in the way of true progress! DOWN WITH SINGLE PLAYER!
  17. Yeah, I have this sneaking suspicion you didnt read ANY of the reviews. Sounds like your bad.
  18. New Lead Dev: We have BIG news coming to Atlas! Along with a whole lot of new clothing styles we are happy to announce that we have been working hard the last few months on bringing ATLAS to MOBILE! That's right, Xbox, Mobile and PC are all going to have crossplay!
  19. Xbox is going to be painful for how large the game is and the resource requirement. Worst decision in the history of their bad decisions. It's gonna be pure tears and sadness for those guys fighting PC players.
  20. Yeah that's not what he was implying with his post. Your assumptions that people dont have any idea because they dont play the game, are still just an assumption. You need to ask from a reasonable point of view. Why, out of between 1,000,000 and 2,000,000 unique accounts on Steam were recorded to having Owned ATLAS, keep in mind that that doesnt factor in refunds, should the Devs listen to only approx 3-4,000 active players that are split between 4 official servers and Solo/Private servers. If you were to look at it from a business perspective. Only 0.5% to 0.2% of players remain of the approximate 1mil-2mil units sold. Thats how small the potential "support" base for this game is. Any reasonable person would ask, "What the fuck did we do to lose the other 99.5-99.8% of our consumers and what can we do to actually fix it to get them back." Because the people that left, left for a good reason, and a lot of them said why and they were ignored. The die-hard supporters are a niche minority that alone cannot hope to keep this game afloat, pandering to those .5 and .2% is what will absolutely bury this game for good.
  21. What does that even mean? Like the whole statement contradicts itself. If you only listen to people who bought the game, then you dont listen to people who havent bought the game. If you only listen to people who own the game, then you dont listen to people who bought the game ^, and refunded it for all of the legitimate reasons it was massively refunded. If you only listen to the people who play the game, then you are only listening to approx. 1,500 people out of between 1,000,000-2,000,000(according to SteamSpy's approx copies sold/owned) who purchased it(most of them refunded it). -And- if you only only listen to people who support the game, well thats even less than the 1,500 that still play. I know, thinking is hard in 2019. Almost everyone who has bought the game, or owned the game, doesnt play the game or support it because it's just bad. And have reviewed and explained why. Are you suggesting that the New Lead Dev instead only listen and pander to the handful of holdouts that still think this is the greatest thing since forever? Cuz that didnt work out for Dawn of War III, or Bless Online, etc.
  22. I'll give him props for coming up with good ideas for games. But goddamn boys and girls, this guy is like the textbook example of the definition of "Dropping the Ball". ARK was amazing for all of its flaws, the Dev team had to admit that ARKS Core issues were sooooooo deeply ingrained, they would have to rebuild the whole game to get rid of them, and so they didnt, they ignored them and moved on. That was a public statement waaaaaaay back in 2017 or some shit. To which the community replied, "Well gosh darnit, why dont you rebuild it, and on a more current form of the unreal engine" So they totes ignored that, and instead of rebuilding ARK in all its glory, so that they could have a better functioning game, they started work on this shitshow of a game we know as ATLAS as a DLC turned standalone. Apparently this cash grab was more of a priority for diverting WC assets for development than fixing your current cashcow up. So here we are, 2019, ATLAS is an abysmal failure in pretty much all the ways, and rather than prioritizing getting the game to a functionally desirable place where both the players are happy and they are happy, they decided they need to start work on Console.... CONSOLE ladies and gentlemen, they took all that money what little there was after the Great Refund Exodus, and rather than pouring in more time and money into getting this game to a proper and respectable state, they are trying so fucking hard to make a few extra dimes by porting this heaping pile of scat onto Console so more unsuspecting and uninformed customers can buy up this great idea, only to be met with "Tentacles and Disappointment" - Marcus Kincaid. Kinda like No Man Sky, ATLAS is dipping into the 1k-2k total players. Everyone remembers that Charlie-Foxtrot at launch, Sean Murray coulda moved the fuck on after his abysmal failure, lies, etc. But goodness gracious that tenacious little douchebag stuck with it, because by golly his reputation in the gaming industry was so tarnished he couldnt hope to land a new job or sell a product if he didnt get No Man Sky where it was promised to be, and he sure as shit did it, they kept at it, and No Man Sky is in a pretty respectable place these days. Good for him.
  23. ^^^ Is the kind of attitude that enables these guys to continue to sell crap. "I have a lot of the problems the game has to offer and I still love and support it and plan to buy it on a platform that has even less dedicated resources than my PC" Goddness gracious, maybe the game wouldnt have so many issues if they could actually sit down and focus on fixing them, rather than spending trying to shovel this heap onto another platform so they can make a few more dimes since their PC consumer interesting tanked it completely do to the state of the game, poor communication, poor progress, etc. Enable away good Sir, you're why we dont have nice things.
