  1. They would need a endless supply of ammo, they target anything in and on the water
  2. I know we’ve all had someone who has dealt with someone kiting or luring SOTD in and destroying ships and bases, so what is everyone doing to protect themselves ? Canons don’t work Bases are getting destroyed What about pillars? Could we build them up in the sea to protect against canon fire, I mean as long as you have sea rights, you can build right. The only sad part is that you may sink someone who is innocent and just passing by. What does everyone else think, I mean we could always warn with territory message
  3. Would building pillars up in your own base, out to the range of their canon fire stop them from getting close ? It would take some time and mats due to depth of the sea but I was thinking that there was a limit on height as well.
  4. Does it make a difference where you place the sails ? what is most common for the Schooner as well ? I’ve heard a large and small speed sail and you’ve got the fastest ship in the game but weight and such will play a part
  5. Pigs could be good for farming seeds, or cooking ingredients. place a lasso in the game for things that are passive flee in order to tame
  6. Fix the tier issue, apex predators should be a tier 3, you can breed bears at tier 2 but you can’t breed lions at tier 3, wolves are weak now and only at a tier 2. There is nothing worth taming for harvest reasons on thatch, pickaxe does it faster.
  7. I lost a horse, bear and tiger while offline to a alpha cobra, all my tames were on neutral and two floors up behind a gate with a ramp, I had multiple tames in with them, more lions and bears. I’m not sure if they fell through the floor during the patch or the cobra came up the ramp. As of yesterday there is no more ramp, I placed a elevator in and though it’s a pain to use I feel it may be safer. The area under my barn is my taming pen which is also built out of stone and completely enclosed behind another gate. The only thing I can figure is the cobra got them through the walls. Normally my lions were able to take down a alpha cobra or alpha lion so I’m really not sure what took place yesterday. I also lost three bears to a alpha giraffe shortly after logging on. I no longer leave my lions in the pen if I have any other tames out they will always have a escort from at least 2 lions or tigers.
  8. It’s both, your not the only person who is dealing with it, it’s not in the interest of pve and it shouldn’t be allowed. We’ve all been posting on forums, discord and Twitter about the issue. That’s why you seen the patch notes say that SOTD should not aggro on ships that are anchored that hasn’t pulled aggro previous. We are all worried about losing our ships but I’ll let you in on a little secret, people who allow building on their claims better rethink where they allow building because now people are building pillars under boats to sink them. My ship was blocked in when I had to log out on someone else’s claim, blocked in with gates and pillars, I was lucky and they left enough stuff that could be demolished and I could get out but they wouldn’t have had to Any player who causes another player grief by sinking their ships is griefing using a exploit.
  9. Actually I do, I already stated that same thing in another thread, this is old news and you are not alone in the frustration.
  10. They made a attempt to fix it already if you will read the patch notes. They stated that SOTD should no longer attack anchored ships that has not previously had aggro with them.
  11. Limited claims per account will help but not solve anything, large companies will simply divide up the land based on each member theyhave, solo players will simply buy more accounts to retain the land they have. There is no simple solution to this issue, some players have built empires on islands that requires multiple flags to ensure ownership of their buildings, the way the overlapping claim system is makes it really rough to build if you don’t own multiple claims, some people have claims in more then one grid for trading purposes, and others have claims in different areas for spawn points, they leave ships at these locations for when they need resources at their main bases. I’ve seen quite a few who have trade routes and taming pens setup so they have easy access to them. I don’t know a simple solution to land claims, the new system is what a lot of us asked for because we didn’t want to lose what we had due to a real life event going on 2 weeks would have been fine with most of us, if you can’t log in for a two week period then chances are your not coming back to the game. I watch the timers just like others do waiting to see if someone else has quit the game for a chance at more land to build on. I have offered up claims to help people out and as I’m able to obtain more I will continue to do so. I would really like to mention something that would make those suffering to find land have something to look forward to but currently I can’t think of anything. I can suggest building something small so you can continue to enjoy the game on a public building area and keep searching and watching timers and hope that a patch is released that forces larger companies to prioritize their land and unclaim the rest, a server wipe will cause more problems than it will fix because everyone who has established a base, ships and friends will not be happy starting over and struggling as you are now. I mean think about how rough it is for you, just imagine now that large companies have had a chance to build up manpower how they could decimate if a server wipe was to happen while most of us were offline and unprepared.
  12. I’ve seen flags with timers for 6 days, and my neighbor has around 16 days or something but hasn’t been online since the new system started. I don’t know what the flag vs company size is but I have seen the difference in timers.
  13. The system seems to be working, the reason you see the 20 day timers is because those people are active, my timer always says 20 days because I play every day. My neighbor however doesn’t and his timer is counting down, I hope he comes back but I keep checking it daily and patiently waiting to see if I can claim it if he doesn’t. 20 days was a bit much in my opinion even for solo/ small companies, I would have been happy with a two week timer. I’m not complaining at all because I know how real life is at times, vacations, funerals, moving or just a natural disaster that happens to take your internet away. No one who is active in the pve side of the game wants to log in after something has happened and see someone else own everything they’ve built. I understand the struggle for a new player as I started the game on Jan 2nd and fought for land myself. I can only imagine what it is like for someone starting out this late in the game and I’m sorry about that, there are people who are willing to help others out and are glad to do so, once the game advances a little more and we develop some way to sell land that has been acquired will make a big difference, a person may still have to live in a lawless or public building rights area until they can afford to purchase the land but it will be worth it if your going to be committed to the game. I’m not for renting land or forcing someone to join a company in order to have a place to build.
  14. I have done this for two people now and hopefully they will remain in the game. I’m always on the lookout for more land, whether it is for taming pens or to give up to other players. I’ve been lucky and found some good people who were willing to allow me to use their taming pens even though they were in the business of selling tames in away it took away possibly income to allow me to do so. I am thankful for that.
  15. They took the land offer and have begun building a nice place, I’m only hoping that my gesture of offering the land to them keeps them in the game. The land I gave up was not rented to them nor was it set to allow them to build under my name, it was a single claim that I let go once he was there to reclaim it.
  16. Agreed that luring SOTD into someone else’s base is a pvp action and should have no effect on pve players. The patch notes stated that SOTD “should no longer attack anchored ships in PVE” the issue that was overlooked was that SOTD weren’t targeting anchored ships, they were targeting the person hiding behind anchored ships. I think the developers kinda missed what everyone was complaining about. I started building a fort around my ships using a large Shipyard turned sideways, you can use pillars, ceiling tiles and walls to build off the deck, the only issues that I had doing this is the mats it requires and how to get my ships in and out. I am building a Galleon in the shipyard and I moved the shipyard so close to the edge where it gets deep that I can’t place a gate. All my other ships are behind / side of the shipyard figuring that SOTD would come within range of said player who lured them and have to shoot over the shipyard to hit my other ships, found out that idea was flawed because they can lure SOTD all the way into shore, so I stopped on the fort idea and just hope they come up with a fix because I don’t have the time to build a fort around my ships to only continue to tear down walls each time I want to leave the protection of the walls.
  17. Well said , I gave a speech along the same lines myself. I am currently exploring different aspects for ways to protect my ships, the area I’m currently in doesn’t have much in the ways for using gates, the water goes deep really fast and using pillars just isn’t worth doing to build walls up and on top of that there wouldn’t be access to get my ships in and out. I’m currently trying to use a large Shipyard and build off the deck using pillars and ceilings and walls but getting the alignment right on the 1st pillar is a pain in the arse. Then there will still be the issue of a gate access to let the ships in and out. I’m also worried that spending all the resources it takes will be a waste of time if they release a fix for it. With the current requirements for stone it takes forever to build anything as a solo player.
  18. It should have s blue aura around, be all sparkly and stuff if it’s active You’ll get a message saying you’ve received a rejuvenation buff or something like that Check your age if your not sure
  19. Sora, that one may have already expired to the next location. Supposed to be at F8 right now Otherwise you just run to it and press “e” default key to activate it
  20. It was but the update and stuff messed me up on my way there, trying to get back now
  21. Taking into your post and the options you gave I’m guessing you are referring to pvp aspect of the game, a simple solution is not have protection for offline players instead encourage them to join large companies that can provide the protection they need while being offline, in pvp there is very little solo play or husband and wife teams, it’s larger groups and normally all communication goes through the company leaders based on a ranking system that the company has came up with. In pvp your encouraged to raid, pillage and plunder, to take and destroy what someone else has. To prove you are better than they are. If companies plan correctly they can build almost impenetrable bases that are well defended against anyone attacking. The issue most of are having that you’ve been reading is in PVE, where we have no desire to fight one another, if we are going to do sea battles it’s going to be with SOTD and sea monsters, where we may team up and work together for the fight and then go back to our pirate lives until the next time we meet. If we are to have bases to raid, pillage and plunder then it should be a npc base, defended with high defense and make it a respawnable system but it can’t be something a solo player can do, it would have to be something that they joined in on or a planned event
  22. That could be a private server and a mod they have created. I didn’t watch the entire video, just the beginning of it. Someone will always find a way to make the game easy, most of us don’t mind them doing for themselves as long as it doesn’t affect us. Killing off our tames, sinking our ships or stealing our supplies is a direct attack on another player in PVE, in pvp it’s expected.
  23. They've worked really hard at fixing some of the exploits, bugs and glitches and I'm sure they will get the rest eventually. For some of us they can't come to soon because the exploits really make us uneasy about building ships and such due to losing them at no fault of our own. I read the Twitter, discord and forums quite regular, I'm also a very active player according to my wife and steam account so I've seen 1st hand of the things that have been improved and I also see the things that are still waiting to be improved. It's a very large open world, do anything, go anywhere as long as you can survive type of game. For a solo player it's a struggle if you wish to remain a solo player, not a struggle as in this is to hard to do but a struggle as in it's going to take longer to do. Which is fine with me as long as I don't lose my progress while I'm logged off due to people luring SOTD in to sink the ships I've built already.. I"m really wanting to build a Galleon and hire some crew members and start trade routes.. I few companies have already done so and they really seem like they enjoy the whole aspect of sailing around and making new friends and offering trade goods along the way. I hope what you've read here in the forums doesn't deter you away from the game, it truly is a blessing to have such a fantastic game but there are exploits which still exist and hopefully are being worked out.
