  1. In many of the fantasy books, I have read. Sailing was made faster by wizards who would be hired to cast wind spells into the sails, summon water or wind elementals, and cast fireballs at approaching ships. I'd sure love to see a cross between gods and a magical aspect to the sailing. Oh and maybe it would be fun to have mermen/mermaids trying to board our ships and sirens trying to lure crew members overboard from time to time.
  2. Correct; the sailing in this game is extremely boring; you enjoy the sailing. Roger that, got it, thanks!
  3. Try a sailing simulator for more exciting and realistic sailing action. This game was advertised as a Pirate, Fantasy MMO that not only had sailing but other interesting aspects like large-scale ship-to-ship combat, building and taming system, dungeons with dangerous encounters, and mythical creatures to fight which this game has failed to provide miserably. The sailing in this game remains boring as hell and too time-consuming to be worth it.
  4. Screw that, sailing is boring as hell and a major waste of time. There is nothing on the majority of those islands that makes it worth the risk, effort, or time. We only sail about for "discovery" points merely because we have been FORCED to by the game system but it remains a lifeless and pointless chore. What they need to do is actually stop being so lazy and apply effort to flesh out each and every island. Make them all unique and have different monsters to battle and diverse loot to acquire. Spread out NPC quests, settlements, dungeons, caves systems, secret passages, undead graveyards, haunted underwater shipwrecks, pirate enclaves, ancient tribal civilizations, and monster lairs to discover and conquer all over each of the islands. Get creative! We need more in the way of PVE content to make ATLAS feel alive like a Fantasy MMO . Instead of lazily placing down a million lions, tigers, wolves, yetis, blah blah, how about mimicking real ecosystems that feel natural and NOT just mindlessly spammed. Mix up the danger with NPC pirates, skeletons, zombies, giant spiders, demons, elementals, giant scorpions, ettins, wyverns, fire beetles, mimics, spectres, constructs, goblins, imps, fey, mutants, wraiths, animated statues, gelatinous ooze, and etc. Give us different types of treasures such as special weapons, armor, tools, materials, gems, gold, blue-prints, skills, consumables, notoriety titles, cosmetic skins, experience points, and etc as incentive.
  5. Sailing is extremely and utterly boring! The worst part about this game is sailing, the times it wastes, and the boring and pointless SOTD/Tornado encounters. There is absolutely nothing that interests me as of current design to make me want to waste my time and effort to sail to other islands. Hell, I am 100 yrs old and still do not care about the FOY quest. I prefer to live, develop, and tame on all of my Lawless base locations which I have spread out all over the map. I would love to see a "Fast Travel" system where you could travel between your beds while retaining all of the items you are already carrying. This should be a pretty easy system to implement.
  6. WTH Grapeshot? Why didn't you reset our skill points if you had made new changes to the skill trees? There are new avenues to take and new skills present on those branches, so I feel a free reset is necessary. In addition, your latest patch for some reason had reset all of my key mappings back to their defaults, not sure why you didn't just rest the skill points as well. Please and Thank you.
  7. Naw, I was just butthurt after a recent and utter "offline" base wipe. Please, disregard my sorry excuse for a tantrum...
  8. I am not sure, I despise the WHOLE controlling territory aspect. I only play on the Lawless islands.
  9. I do have hopes but they often times get stomped on. I am used to it, such is life...
  10. Nope, not what I had said at all. I said I enjoy playing on PVP servers and enjoy being attacked in pvp encounters but I despise "Offline Griefers" that only wish to destroy someone's hard work while they are offline and unable to defend their base and this is where the ORP concept would be a consideration. ORP has worked in many modded versions of the PVP games that I have played in the past. Of course, I wish to see the game mold into one that I would prefer to play and enjoy, who wouldn't? Again, the DEVs already stated that they had full intention to make ATLAS accessible for all kinds of playstyles, be it solo, small, or large companies.
  11. Um, you really need to improve on your reading comprehension. I said nothing of the sort. In fact, you are so far off my topic that I have no idea where to even correct you. Stay off the drugs man... I don't fit into this, I had already admitted this as much. I enjoy pvp when it is "mano a mano". I do not prefer large, pointless battles like that but then again, not everyone has to in order to play a PVP MMO and that is the beauty of such a game. We all will get out of it what we want to and our goals can be different.
  12. It wasn't that the FOY was impossible it was the fact that it was not thought out very well and was implemented so ridiculously. That was why we were complaining. I personally tried to do the FOY and found it an absolute shit show and not worth it so I had grudgingly accepted the debuff. I was very elated when, after our constant bitching, Grapeshot relented and decided to remove the debuff. THAT is especially why we lodge our complaints here on the forums. Whenever we feel something needs to be corrected, Grapeshot often times will heed our complaints and suggestions and find creative ways to rectify it. By the way, just because something is EASY for you does not necessarily mean that it MUST be easy for every other player. I know of no solo nor small companies that have slain the Kraken without additional help. The challenge for PVP is not the PVE content, it is to promote large PVP encounters. In this Pirate MMO, that would be large Base sieges and Fleet to Fleet naval battles.
  13. Yes, and that is my point. Grapeshot has already stated that they had intended to make ATLAS more accessible to solo and smaller tribes. I was merely reminding them that the NEW content is behind a wall and not going to be so accessible to solo and smaller tribes as they had stated that they were trying to do. Don't just accept things the way they are if they need to be fixed, do something about it.
  14. I have played many games similar to ATLAS, ARK for one and I always did very well playing those types of games. Though I may not be interested in KILLING large companies, Beating all of the BOSSES, nor try to dominate the entire globe, I certainly do enjoy the opportunity for great PVP action every now and then, build interesting structures, mindlessly farm resources, taming exotic creatures, etc... We may go into these kinds of MMOs for different reasons but that does not disqualify either of us from being able to effectively play and enjoy a MMO PVP game. Our goals are just differently aligned, that is all...
  15. You seem to have a skewed interpretation of the meaning for PVE, PVP and Casual. "PVE" is for people that wish to only experience the game against AI content (hence Environment) and without any desires for a player vs player combative encounter. "PVP" is for players that not only wish to have AI Environment but look very forward to having player vs player encounters. A "Casual" player is a person who may enjoy player vs environment only, player vs player encounters, or a mix between the two. I favor a mixture of the two. All that "Casual" means is that these particular players do not have as much game-play time to invest as they may have careers, family, school, and bills. This does not in any way mean that a Casual player is incapable of enjoying or participating in a PVP setting, they only have less time to invest and wish to apply their free-time more wisely while playing their games. A "Griefer" is a totally different beast as the Griefer is typically a higher level or very skillful player with the only intentions to repeatedly destroy a player's progress and foil that player's plans. Basically, the Griefer is there for very little PVP combat as they prefer to always have superior advantages and get-off on merely pissing off other players out of spite and malice. An "Offline Griefer" are those despicable, chicken-shits that wish to avoid PVP interactions if-at-all-possible and destroy a player's progress, killing their tames, and stealing their resources, all while that player is offline and helpless to defend themselves. I myself have a career that allows me at least 4-5 hours of nightly time to invest while playing ATLAS in PVP mode and even more time on my weekends. I do just fine alone as a solo player, I build solid and defend-able structures, tame, and farm religiously and it has been very fun up to present. There are, however, some setbacks that I feel makes the game a bore and that is, as it relates to Offline Griefing, as this is an aspect that I feel could be easily prevented through "Offline Raid Protection". I have played on many Modded servers in many different PVP associated games where its implementation had been extremely successful by the community. This is what I have time and time again requested from Grapeshot. Now you may not like this idea but it is NOT for you to decide if I should be playing ATLAS in PVP mode. When I come across a solid player vs player interaction it is always a great adrenaline rush, very exhilarating, and immense fun. Why should I be deprived of this kind of play mode just because the larger companies have redefined their own definition of how ATLAS PVP should be played? Now, if Grapeshot states that they do not intend for their PVP to be played by solo players or small companies then that is something I should consider but they did not. In fact, they have mentioned several times in the pas,t that they intended for ATLAS to be accessible to solo, small, and large companies and are slowly but surely taking huge strides to ensure that ATLAS remains open for the multitude of play-styles.
  16. It is NOT about being able to join a company. I often time avoid grouping because time and time again I am stuck in a group with little immature individuals who all talk about insignificant, immature, and annoying topics. Members oftentimes do intentionally erratic and silly things to piss one another off, initiating inner-fights and then they take pointless revenge on the company, destroying, stealing, or sabotaging all of our stuff. Grouping up with others in many MMOs these days usually is a waste of time and an aggravating experience. In MMO's, I have learned to live by a certain rule that I generally do not trust most players. Many of us prefer the challenges to go it alone and oftentimes have a life outside of video games. We are called "casual" for a reason and when you grow up, you should quickly realize, if you are fortunate enough, to have a career, bills, children, and then a little time left to settle down each and every night to play a few hours of the game. Not everyone is neglecting their families, unemployed or unambitious, or 10 years-old and without any sense for responsibility. Explain to me how I get there as each and every ship I have ever made either got sunk or gets stolen?
  17. ANd exactly where do we store all of the resources necessary to do these quests before raiders come to offline raid our bases and take and kill all of our creatures/stuff?
  18. I am very unimpressed by this update, I give it "two thumbs down"... Most of the good stuff from that patch will be safely hidden behind quest/boss walls of which I am sure small and solo companies cannot easily or at all complete. Many of those "fixes" were not even the issues most players have been complaining about. Why won't you ever fix the real concerns voiced throughout these forums? Is that dual wield option only for the stupid pistols or will we get to finally dual wield melee weapons? Why in the hell would you reduce the damage of the sickle when many players have explained, time and time again, your normal melee weapons are absolutely worthless and unusable in their current state as their attack animations take extremely too long to complete and end up making you lose significant time while repositioning yourself after missing your moving target. These weapons need to make instant attacks swings to be PVP viable. As a viable combat weapon alternative, many have stated how the sickle was a logical choice as its swings were instant and allow players to quickly recover after each swing and suffered from a slightly reduced DPS as a trade-off. Now you went and spit in our faces by reducing the sickle's damage to both players and creatures and yet never adjusted the other weapon options to make them viable? Gee, thanks for the patch. Do you guys have any kind of clue what your players really want to see in this game?
  19. "Presumptuous, snarky and entitled" was exactly the mood I had intended to paint and it was certainly to draw attention. That is the point and mission accomplished! This is what you would call a disgruntled post derived largely from one's own experiences and opinions and I am, at this point, beyond offering "constructive, and polite feedback" as it has been about as effective as talking to a stone wall. That particular ship has already set sail and been sunk. If Grapeshot intends to become a reputable and successful company than it is, in fact, well within their best interest to feel a modicum of obligation towards their paying attention to their customer base. You cannot run a successful, customer-facing business for long if you take the stance that you "Owe" your customers nothing. But again, these are my opinions and I am free to post anything I feel I need to, as long as it does not violate their TOS and you are free to troll away if you feel you must. Enjoy yourself...
  20. That does nothing to help us on Lawless islands. I recommend an offline flag for all structures that is enabled once "all" members of the company which owns those structures have been offline for more than a certain period of time. Griefers and would-be-offline raiders alike can simply move on to molest and destroy other companies that are actually online and hopefully, in a better position to offer a meaningful PVP interaction.
  21. Despite your misguided argument, Grapeshot has implemented this very forum as a place for their player base to post about bugs, exploits, suggestions, experiences, and observations. As a paying customer, I "am" in fact, entitled to voice my continued displeasure about the direction that Grapeshot is taking ATLAS. I am a disgruntled player who has faithfully been playing ATLAS since its launch and I am well within my rights to express my negative dispositions. Grapeshot has not been very forthcoming with any explanation concerning the magic system and continues to neglect key, bugs and missing content in what "I" believe to be an intentional avoidance of those particular matters in favor of adding in, needless content as an effort to allure new paying customers. I certainly do not need your permission nor your ridicule as I make my post and lodge my complaints, thank you very much.
  22. I have been eagerly awaiting a magic system since they announce the game and sold us all on their trailer depicting magic. I am sure that aspect is low on their list of priorities as they cram crap they "THINK" will pull in more players. They have never ever replied with an explanation of why it hasn't been added or if, a magic system will even be implemented into the game.
  23. WTF? You larger companies claim half of the world, sail around like bullies-of-the-seas, clutter the islands with enormous structures and walls, effectively blocking content from all of the smaller companies, and are always want more things to devastate or possess? ATLAS has already been ruined by catering to your ilk and your alliances and now you want to be even more powerful? Screw that!
  24. Grapeshot rarely fixes the relevant bugs they have already produced in favor of adding in newer, flashy content while inadvertently introducing even more bugs... All of the melee weapons have crappy mechanics rendering them cumbersome and useless. Once you attack with them they will lock your character into a lengthy and awkward attack motion. You are unfortunately locked into this attack motion, despite your target already moving their position, causing you to severely miss. This produces a vulnerable window of opportunity for your opponent to capitalize on while your character is off balanced and unable to recover vital time as you move into a new position for another swing. It is absolutely inexcusable to lock a player into a lengthy attack motion in a PVP game where timing and precision mean life or death in your PVP encounter. In a PVP combat dependent system, all character attacks should allow you the ability to apply the attack swing and then allow you to instantly move, dodge, block, or jump immediately afterwards. ATLAS's PVP/PVE combative encounters would certainly benefit from adding instantly applied combat moves, (IE: skill-tree feats, kicks, parries, ripostes, dodges, or etc.) increasing combat intrigue, immersion, and fun. DEVs, I implore you, please actually try to play your game in PVP without god mode and you would know this to be true...but at last, I might as well be speaking to a brick wall as we will not be seeing any of this happening before ATLAS' followers dwindle to nil.
  25. It would be much better if the DEVs would redesign it so that our ships could sail into their respective shipyard and dock back into it. Basically would return it back to the state it was before you "Released the ship" in the beginning. This way it is safely dry-docked and can either avoid or suffer greatly reduced damage while undergoing repairs. Now, the company has time to safely repair the ship without the risk of it sinking. This also would allow the company to go offline more soundly as the entire Shipyard would need to be destroyed and the dry-docked ship could not be stolen while you were offline.
