  1. I do agree with you, that schooners outclass Brigantines for most purposes. I dont agree that large cannons are now useless. My main point was you cant catch or shoot at a schooner that does have only a few large cannons on the back, your saying that schooner will never sink anything. Maybe it wont, but you cant really sink it or catch it either. If you sink someone trying this strat then that boat needed a different captain. I would only count sinking their boat as winning though. Its literally a you can run but you cant hide situation if this schooner that only has 3 cannons is chasing you, and watching where you go. I deffinately see your point with schooners vs brigantines, you say my point that large cannon have twice the range is invalid and that they cant be used at that range. They can be used at this range. They dont have to one shot ya, just run you out of planks.
  2. Hate to do this but I was comparing schooner to schooner so that there's less variables to easier understand the battle strat. You didn't explain how you move faster with a brig that has more cannons and therefore more weight, a brigantine would never catch this theoretical schooner that only has 3 large cannons on the back, unless that brig has less cannons, in which case those large cannons will be doing some damage to ya. All the schooner has to do is run. Ohh I reread your post were you talking about a large cannon brig vs ship cannon schooner? In that case I wouldn't build a large cannon brig, because schooners are faster.
  3. They do miss a lot yes, not hard to have extra large balls though and if they manage to hit a few shots even after nerf, your going to be missing planks trying to get in med cannon range. The problem is a schooner that has 10 med cannons with or without gunports is heavier than one that say only has 3 large cannons on the back. The one with large cannons can get you in cannon range and start shooting, your only option would be to run, because they are lighter so you will not catch them if you pursue. Its checkmate for the heavier schooner that doesnt have large cannons. If the large cannon schooner runs out of balls they can just sail away faster than the regular schooner. The range of the large cannons is what makes this gorilla warfare tactic possible. I personally like using the ship cannons and gunports, but they have no point because of that battle strat. Until they fix gunports weight problem ship cannons are almost useless. :(.
  4. Doesnt really apply I was saying to build a bear pin inland, to keep the bear safe. Then you have the means to farm everything there, build a shipyard anywhere, but I was saying also to be very careful parking your ships, as people are always looking for easy resources. If you build some npc cannons, pickles and swivels where you park the boat, it MIGHT not get sunk if you set them up well. Keeping your ships afloat is definately the hardest part, but with the bear a fully done schooner is always less than an hour of farming where I'm at.
  5. Large cannon still has twice the range over ship cannons. That alone is enough of an advantage for them to be used over ship cannons.
  6. Probably just make them faster than speed sail while ship is closer to full weight, and remove the extra weight bonus.
  7. Want to start with, I think stone should receive a buff for how expensive it is. But honestly for now I think a big wood honeycomb structure with a stone interior would be the way to go. With the buff to wood ,its still annoying to break through. You can burn it but it still take a little while and takes almost just as much cannon fire as stone. Plus wood is super easy to replace.
  8. Ya the only choice I see on sails is speed or handling. Speed and weight are the same thing but speed is better. A handling sail can allow you to still sail at angles to the wind that a speed sail wont move much at. That could give you a real advantage. I'll probably never make a weight sail until they buff/change them though.
  9. Lawless has been the best for our small company, honestly pretty manageable now since you can spawn on land in lawless. Make sure you make a pen with a gate on it, make it extra big so oil jars cant kill stuff inside, once you have a safe bear with a shipyard, you can make boats easy and explore the world or whatever you wanna do. You get trouble every now and again in lawless, but for the most part the mega companies leave it alone. Place defences and be creative if your gonna park your ships there though! The solo players are always looking for easy resources.
  10. I agree on op that bears and horses with swivels need to be balanced a bit, there the only thing most people are using to take land. Good options could be Give them a fixed speed close to character run speed when they have a cargo saddle. Or do something like op is saying and make it so that they can only fire/have someone mount the gun when its parked. Either would work fine and get us back to using carbines, blunderbuss, pistols, bows, and maybe even melee weapons. Right now all that equipment is almost useless unless your in a location bears or horses cant get to it. I'm not just complaining either, just think the pvp would be more fun with this balanced better. Only way you have a chance to kill the swivel tames is to get them stuck and oil jar it. Not an easy task with a player driving it. I have even build stone traps for them, there effective, but players usually wont fall for it.
  11. Title pretty much says it all, atlas map wont load on phone or PC.
