  1. Not sure how that would solve anything, large companies would have the resources already to cover the flags, have you seen some of the bases and ships companies have ? Smaller companies and solo players would never get to enjoy the game due to just having to gather resources for upkeep. Right now in the afternoons I spend most of my time making sure the npc’s have gold and food , tames have food and the ships all have resources to repair with. I struggle keeping tames alive and without them I can’t do treasure maps to provide gold to npc’s who man the sails. Now with the new captain log that came out they want to revamp the claim system again, I’m sitting here worried I’m going to lose my base again that I’ve sank hundreds of hours into just because I have to go to work or take a week off to spend time with my family on a vacation. This is really starting to get old, once you start to get ahead in the game they change something up that causes more stress and aggravation, I mean they can’t even fix the tame going invisible or alphas coming through walls yet and this will be the 3rd revamp on the claim system or fourth.
  2. If you want to make it hard on people with many claims then make them physically visit each claim flag to keep it contested, not using npc’s or tames but the player themselves, members of a company large, small or solo players. Those 500 flags people have would shorten up a lot because very few people would spend their time going to each flag in each region to keep it contested. I run by my flags each day, there is no reason to justify having to grind mats to keep claims, this isn’t WoW, the grind fest from hell.
  3. If I wanted to be part of a company it wouldn’t be hard to do, why don’t you quit complaining about the claim system and join a company yourself instead of telling me to make some friends and quit being a land lubber ? I happen to like the way the system is now and I dealt with the claim issue just like everyone else has, all I’ve done here is offer my thoughts on what everyone else has, I’ve not once told someone to make some friends and quit being a land lubber. You don’t like what I have to say then that’s fine, I don’t expect everyone to agree on everything but I try to show POV behind my thoughts and offer suggestions without trying to piss someone off. I have a land claim, I’ve had several, what I wasn’t using was unclaimed or given to other players. Do you know how I got those claims ? It wasn’t from someone giving them to me, it was because I got off my ass and found them, I wasn’t one of the 1st to start playing so I could go around spamming flags, Hell no my ass had to stay logged in for hours sitting on a claim flag because if you left it you got a message about your flag was interrupted and I had to start the shit all over again. So yeah I wasn’t here in the forums bitching about the system or telling someone to make friends, as a solo player I was working my ass off, dealing with the ships being sunk to glitches and lag and having to start back over at Freeport’s over and over because I didn’t have a bed somewhere or base setup. I did go to a lawless and build my ship once, built a sloop before the patch came out that you could build a ramshackle at a Freeport, I only offer my suggestions here based on my experience thus far in the game and I try to help everyone out that I can to keep players in the game. What have you done ? Have you offered up claims you weren’t using to help people you didn’t know ? Or you just out for yourself?
  4. You made no sense to me, your saying that since I have a claim, the timer is at 20 days and if you decide to contest it then I have to use materials to defend that claim ? If I log in and do nothing more than run to each of my claims then I’ve defended my claims. If I decide to not log in for a period of 2 weeks then I may be on vacation and not able to log in, that doesn’t mean I have quit playing, if I haven’t logged in within 20 days, almost a month then chances are I’ve moved to another game and really don’t care if I lose everything or not. That is kinda the system we have in place now and it makes sense. Now as the timers run down and claims will become available people will start grabbing them up but with the new system they can’t run around spamming flags, one claim at a time, there will be 15 mins between each claim I think. Once more and more timers run down , more and more people will do less and less complaining about the system because they will have claims.
  5. I like the claim system myself, it gives me room to build and use my imagination, if there was no claim system then your contending with someone building on top of you and then you are really limited to what you can do, the system needs work but not sure how to justify how much is to much or what, I’d like to have places to get tames in different regions but with the claim system is complicates things
  6. So like I said if they were last active when this new system was implemented then a person is going to see claims become available in about 7 days
  7. I've seen "PvE upkeep timers" on the flag go negative 3 days, and it still cannot be claimed as the flag placing timer still says 14 days. If they fix what is broke, it would work much better. I’ve noticed this as well, one person has a claim and looking at his flag it shows negative and counting backwards but if you try to place a flag it shows he has 8 days and something remaining, I check this stuff every day and the latter seems to be accurate, I’ll know more when the timer runs out.
  8. John in roughly 7 days there will be new claims available if you look around and plan you may be able to obtain something other then lawless, I’ve helped a couple players in the game by giving them claims, if I’m able to obtain more I plan to do the same. They need to give lawless the same rules as any other region, I know lawless was designed to give new players a chance to build ships and get setup to explore and find land of there own but that didn’t go as planned.
  9. The problem is that not everyone works or has to be away from the computer/ game for hours at a time, those people are the ones who can spend time looking for claims, doing content and get the most out of the game as quickly as possible to where others like myself have to work, pay bills and support our families, we only get to play when life allows. Some of you suggest using in game gold to pay for claim upkeep, I’ve met one player who already accumulated over 90k in gold as to where I myself has only got 1k gold and I’ve got over 300 hours in the game. How do you justify paying for land claims like that, it boils down to who can spend the most time in the game
  10. I never got into Ark, tried a few times in the beginning but gave up and played another game, I understand that a lot of the features in atlas work the same or close but having never played the other for any amount of time I’d have no ideas on it. Since I already follow the forums here, discord and twitter, I never seen the purpose of following steam discussion as well. most games I played in the past allowed mods in them and since this is still new I’m not sure of all the rules and such since there is nothing that really guides you.
  11. I’d say your close to being right, not 100% sure but the ranking system has really messed the pve side of the game up because companies who have the most claims get acknowledged as being one of the top companies in the game. In pvp taking land and holding titles means something but in PVE it only causes problems because there is no way to take another persons claim unless they quit and wait for the timer to run down and even then it’s who can make the claim first. Since we all have different schedules, some of us work and don’t have access to use a computer until we get home afterwards and some people work away from home but play during the weekends, so how does one take a claim that’s about to expire when your not able to be in game. Join a company is a option but like myself not everyone wants to be in a company and for people like me it’s a struggle, there is no easy solution to the claim system, I’ve seen empires that have been built on island that may take up 10 claims, at my base I hold 5 and standing on my galleon it looks about the size of a runic cube, which 3 of my claims are sea claims so no one can build stuff to block my ships in aside from using another ship. Limited claims may help the issue but it won’t solve it, I’d buy another account if needed to have more land in other regions if that was the case, land claims only available to subscription based players limiting them to 25 to 50 claims per account and non subscription based players limited to 5 to 10 claims. Then your going to have people say it’s a pay to win game. There is no single good answer for the issue atm without affecting the current player base
  12. How would you fix the system without messing up those who have already spent the time to sail and find claims, I mean the flag system has changed a few times already, if you suggest limiting claims per account then how do you decide which claims to take from those who have already built something on them, yes I know there are islands that are owned mostly by one person but how do you code to decide what that person has to give up, the count down system seems to be working but the issue is that with small companies you have a 20 day protection policy and large companies have less time but more members to keep claims active, there are people who have quit the game and several of us are patiently watching and waiting to see if that land becomes claimable. I can’t figure out how to make things fair for new players just starting out vs players who have been here all along, I know it’s a awesome game with issues that are being worked out little by little. My suggestion, take it with grain of salt or with a hill of beans, sail around and find a public building area that the timer is running down on, you’ll know because active people claims constantly reset and I know for a fact this works because I’m watching three areas myself and hoping that I am able to get one of them but I’m not the only one watching them either, build something small so you can place a bed and try to find more then one and try to be on when the timer runs out so you can place your flag
  13. What other taming pen designs have you all came up with for larger tames ? I like enclosed structures to protect you from other hostile creatures. What size and materials are most using?
  14. I found the information out on the sails and couldn’t delete post so I created a new one
  15. How are you getting one image outside of the game into the game ?
  16. Has anyone heard anything on fixing the issues of ships being left abandoned?
  17. Since your quitting because a bugged treasure map and one wasted night, do you have any claims I can have, gold tames, ships resources are all welcome as well ?
  18. I’ve lost countless lions, elephants, giraffes, horses and bears to alpha cobras,. I’ve had pen on pillars, with roof doors used as ramps and that seems to have been one of my better pens, I’ve used pens built 6 walls high over top of my taming area with all of it enclosed but things would either fall through the floor and be killed on the lower pen or the snakes would come up the ramp and strike through the gate, done away with that and tried a ground build with double walls but single gates and that didn’t work so now I’ve went 4 floor foundations high on the outside and 3 on the inside connected to my base with a large gate and a ramp with a elevator separating it so now I have a drawbridge that keeps things away from the gate
  19. Have you all looked at Ashes of Creation, it's an MMO that alot of people where looking forward to playing, I was giving the opportunity to play it in it's Beta stages, it was only going to cost 500.00 and I think now I can still join but the price is something like 75.00 and you get one month of game time. In all honesty I haven't been following it for sometime now, it may have already released but in comparison to this one being released at 1/2 price until is comes out of EA..... Well I spend more money on Monster Energy drinks in a month then I have on what it's cost me to play this game since Jan. 2nd. We all want the game to be a certain way and if you look through the forums and compare the patch notes you'll see that the developers do hear us, they do try to implement some changes
  20. If you make the game super easy then how do you figure out what needs addressed. The game runs fine for most, there are issues of course but no one playing a early access doesn’t expect it to be perfect. A lot of people have complaints and a lot of people have decided to wait until it’s out of early access before playing it or at least giving a 2nd chance. There are people who want to be part of the game as it develops and some can’t find land so they build a ship and call that their base and sail around living the pirate life. We’ve all lost ships, land and tames who currently play, I lost claims because I started a new character with the same company name, same character name but the game wouldn’t recognize me as being the owner, I have multiple screenshots of tames bouncing off through the sky and alphas inside stone buildings, I’ve went back to ships that has been sunk during lag spikes and things I had no control over just to salvage some materials. I’m not saying the game is easy or the developers are working endless to fix known issues because we all know they are not, we all know it’s early access and it’s going to take some time, so we enjoy what we can and complain about the rest. So the question is what are you going to do ?
  21. Yeah most of us are constantly frustrated with one thing or another, we keep making post and suggestions and they keep making hot fixes and giving us 2x resources and taming to make up for untested patches, the only way this game gets better is with a core group that is going to deal with the game as it is and continue to make suggestions and keep waiting for them to figure out how to fix or what to fix based on that all along trying to get the game to its full release standings. It is a slow process but you can look over patch notes to see what they’ve done thus far to try and make things better
  22. Yeah I can understand it being more trouble then it’s worth but it seems a fix for this isn’t going to happen anytime soon. I suggested having SOTD drop aggro within a certain distance from shore of a island and immediately return to full health, that’s stops the sinking ships and destroying of bases, it also stops people from pulling SOTD in and setting a ambush to get easy kills, the only time they would be able to be engaged is in a sea battle, if you felt you were going to lose the battle you could flee to the safety of an island to save your ship and the SOTD would just drop aggro, return to full health and return to sea
