  1. When the lions / tigers grab you in their mouth, that's the time to do a power attack as it's a guaranteed hit. I have mixed results overall. easier to hit with a fast weapon, but you need to do it more often. if i time the power attack with the mace i can two shot most things, but it's harder to hit. pike is kinda in the middle.
  2. This is getting sidetracked into a gitgud thread. Back on topic: I'm not saying i can't kill things, what i'm saying is that killing things with melee is MUCH harder, more dangerous, and less practical then with bows and guns, and that shouldn't be the case in a game. Personally once they fix the mob glitching it'll become 50% better. The mob suddenly being behind you randomly, (or through you) is half the problem. The damage might actually be fine if we can hit the things. I guess right now there's two schools of thought: Fast weapons so if you miss you can swing again quickly. Slow but powerful weapons so when you do hit it does much more damage. Thus far with VERY limited testing, also these numbers are from memory so they may be a bit off but should be close. I'll update it with more accurate numbers if i get the chance today. Pike seems the fastest and does the highest DPS but also has the weakest power attack. attk: 26, PA: 31 Sword lowest dps but hard hitting power attack that's fairly quick. Atk: 24, PA 60 Mace is VERY slow, i'm pretty sure it slows your run speed as well. However it hits like a truck and i think the power attack is an AE, haven't confirmed that yet as i only have one dummy but it shows a circle when it hits. Atk: 42, PA: 96
  3. But when a large gate costs a fraction of the mats it would take to use walls to cover the same area, you'd be stupid not to do it. Maybe if you're in a large company that has the people to gather mats, but for solo / small companies it's much more cost / time effective.
  4. Which mount offers the best ratio of speed, durability and dps for general usage? I.E. exploring, fighting off preds, getting to rare mats in dangerous areas, etc... I don't mean so much for farming mats, that's usually in a safer area and TBH i'm not sure they even do it better then you, but feel free to add it if you like. Horses are lightning fast but squishy. Bulls seems kinda middling in all areas Haven't got a pred mounts yet, so what are your thoughts?
  5. i say again, show me an island with no preds lol If you mean alphas, yeah, i agree. But even normal animals are a pita.
  6. last time i checked every island has predators on it. some topor, some leap, some charge... some islands have them all. You show me an island with resources that has no preds and i'll happily move there.
  7. You do realize not everyone likes being dependent on strangers on the internet to effectively play the game right? With you're rational someone who goes deep into ship wright would barely be able to do anything else.

  9. Yeah, change it back! I'm tired of being able to effectively dock my ship! I want to go back to having to zigzag back and forth for hours! I miss my rafts never being able to get out of a cove! I'm getting to much done now, nerf sailing so i can go back to staring at waves for hours!
  10. The problem is there's not always room to kite, and some mobs run faster then you can, so you often get hit anyway. It'd be nice not to have to run or kite everything, i hope the melee gets balanced. As much as i hate the guns atm, i may have no choice since melee is broken and now you have to fix your bow every 4 mobs.
  11. +1 OP Very hard to melee them, half the bow shots don't resister and topor KO's in like 3 hits
  12. Has anyone had success trying to melee in PVE? I've tried every weapon and between lag, mobs charging, knock backs, mobs jumping or flying into the air... i've found melee not worth the trouble. Add to that the fact that topor KO's you in about 3 hits and it seems really hard to kill much with melee weapons. Am i missing something here? Is anyone good at melee, cuz even with the bow nerf it still feels like the most consistent way to kill anything.
  13. Yeah, as a solo player i want to be forced into companying with complete strangers and forced to trade in order to play the game at a higher level. Screw the devs for trying to let people have fun alone!
  14. Ships become immobile when overweight instead of sinking. No griefing No exploiting weight problem solved
  15. This was the nature of my question. Though as is my understanding 1 large is better then 2 med, 1 med better then 2 small. My question is how much do you really lose or gain? How much speed do you get from a speed sail vs a handling?
  16. I don't care about the buffs or the mini game, i just want some sailing music. Yeah i could play it on my PC... i could also watch pirate movies, but i'd rather play the game and make feel like i'm making the music in a fun and relaxed way. I'm not asking for the mini game to be removed, i'm sure many people like it, i just want the option to play it casually like in SoT

  18. it's meant to be a mobile semi base. But if you were to load it up with everything you'd put in a real base (every crafting station, a bunch of storage boxes with tons of mats) it would never move, thereby making it pointless. So you really don't gain anything by doing that. This would be a simple and effective solution.
  19. My company was really looking forward to music to liven up the long voyages. In a certain other pirate game which shall not be named, i used to love sitting in the crows nest playing music for the crew. It really adds to the ambiance and helps with the tedium. I can't say how disappointed i was to find out how the music works in your game. I want to relax and play a sea shanty... not guitar hero. I understand that songs give a buff, keep the mini game for the buff version of the song, but PLEASE add an auto playing non buff version. Either a toggle or hold left mouse kinda thing. Thanks for the hard work.
  20. I've seen people reference things like "sail usage" and a speed bonus. Are these stats only visable to the shipwright, because i haven't seen them anywhere.Trying to figure out the best sail combo's for dif ships but have no info to work off of as they don't have stats.Also i've noticed that some sails seem to only be placeable facing backwards, is this a bug or am i missing something? I'm aware of the dif sail types, i just want to know if there was a way to compare them.I.E.How much faster is a med speed sail then a smallHow much speed do you lose using a handling vs a speedThat sort of thing.
  21. All they have to do it change it so that overweight ships stop moving instead of sinking. No more greifing, no new weight exploits. Problem solved.
