Considering this was released as a stand alone game instead of the ARK MOD IT REALLY IS just so they could skirt around people getting it for free if they had bought an Ark season pass and make them pay for it, I wouldn't be surprised at all. Shit company and shit practices to pull on people.

Based off the terrible explanations Maxpower and Wildbill have delivered it would appear I am not the one who doesn't know how games are made. Atlas is a mod.

That all sounds great on paper and in theory would be a neat system. Add humans into the mix though and it all goes out the window with the wash water. The modders didn't take the time to put systems in place to protect their playerbase from themselves.

Might as well throw in cancer and leprosy while we're at it.

I'm not super upset. Just find it funny people can't accept the fact this isn't a stand alone product but a mod based off an existing game. It's rather amusing tbh. If anyone seems to be "super upset" it's the people yelling Early Access at every critique of this mod.

Thanks. I mean I see what they want to accomplish with Atlas and it's good. It's obvious from twitch streams and the massive hype train this created in a short amount of time that other people want this too. Is an Ark mod the way to get there though? We got many other great games as a direct result of game mods so maybe.

Honestly the modders of this Ark DLC just got too many ideas and scrambled them all together without stopping to polish any of them. If they maybe slowed down a bit and took more time to build a few good systems they'd have something great, instead they spread themselves out too thin with too many game mechanics and not enough skill/time to polish them. Hurts them even more that they are using a version of ark from 2+ years ago.

If I was there is no way in hell I'd admit to it. Also they are not developers. "They" are modders.

How about removing it? It adds nothing to the game and just makes the eating system convoluted.

Making a game hard to pick up and play causes it to become empty pretty quickly. The mentality of huge company or go home is pretty flawed.

Early access is a new moniker that game devs have adopted to sell you unfinished games so they can start bringing in cash to help develop the rest of the game. Defend it or hate it all you want it's the new norm.

Nope. This is a PvP game where destroying the other players things are what it's all about. If it takes a long time to build up then nobody is going to waste the time to build up just to lose it all. If anything it should be quickened to allow fast building and therefore fast battles where losing a ship or entire castle isn't that huge of a deal. Unless you hate yourself that is On topic though the land grab is a terrible mechanic and just goes to show how the modders that made this didn't think anything through.
