While true, the most obvious place for displaying ones wares is in the highest traffic areas. The old saw in retail is that the 3 most important things are location, location, and location (this was in a pre internet world). The insane (and that's honestly what they are) upkeep costs for shops placed in freeports makes them effectively non viable. what would make sense to me is having to pay a percentage of sales for shops placed in freeports, but not the current rent prices, they're just plain nuts.

I agree, that plus ship decay makes them worthless in the only place they make sense in. It would really help if the developers would actually play their game. Apart from messing around with new stuff via console commands. It is pretty obvious that they are not knowing about how impractical most of their decisions are.

  2. Not going to sail around endlessly to find shops that may or may not have interesting goods or being restocked. It maybe would have worked with the playerbase they aimed for, but i really doubt they will ever get there. Apart from the ridiculous costs to have them in Freeports, the decay ruins the idea as well. It is like going shopping knowing your car will be keyed while you browse.

I wish I could build on our island that we own but we can't because people built everywhere on it. Now this island is essentially fucking useless. So glad they allowed the freeloaders to control the game while the people putting in the work to own islands suffer.

So you either took an island that was already completely full (then you weren't exactly smart about it) or you didn't remove the stuff they build in time (again, not very smart). Either way, your mistake. So a rather pointless post. And not owning an island doesn't make you a freeloader. If at all, owning one makes you.

Yes but the op's point is that this really shouldn't be the case. These are the game's official forums. Their presence here should be strongest of anywhere.  When your presence skews towards social media over your own game forums, the underlying implication is that you prefer to ignore questions you don't want to deal with.

I agree, was more meant as a statement about the sad state of the communication 😞 I probably spend more time here than they do 😉

@Winter Thorne read my last post here, what I think about the prices.

@[GP] Guybrush Threepwood if the lord decides to quit the game or to loose his island and u are a active settler on his island. So why you don't talk together? Really unrealistic task u bring on here. The option to do so is real, but in the real world with real people who play the game: u really think we would let someone build a huge base on our land without knowing them a little bit ingame? Or would you build up your Disney castle on someones island without asking? Sure not... Otherwise I will start now to believe, that there are some ignorant idiots and selfish

I own an island, and i let people build/do whatever they want as long as they dont block resources. Live and let live. The real douche move here is asking for something close to a job interview before they can build and tell them how to play and have fun. I guess those are the ones who have to compensate for a lack of power in real life or so, no idea.

You can't place gold in the flag? You should be able to.

Even if they do that, the 10 day PvE Timer will run out and anyone can come along and drop the flag. Which leads to only one stack of each item stored in the flag being dropped btw, another bug. 30k gold turned into one stack on 1k gold. Gold in the flag doesn't keep it from being de-claimable after 10 days of the owner being offline. Please reconsider this, it is not thought trough at all.

I strongly suspect that if they introduced the NPC Pirate Encampments to official servers it will require a complete wipe of official servers. I suspect that is the reason for holding off for now.

Yes, that makes sense. Still weird that the first actual PvE content wont make it to the official Servers.

Yep, and that nagging child puts up higher numbers than the PVP side. At least for EU. PVE NA usually hovers about half of PVP NA. These are not my feelings. The data can be tracked up to the minute by just looking here. https://atlas.hgn.hu/

It proves how little they understand or care about their playerbase.

  9. This is a dealbreaker for me. I dealt with the fact that i can only be away for 7 days max (that alone is a joke for PvE), the bugs, the lack of attention of the developers for the real problems... But for PvE you shouldnt have to worry to lose all your stuff over night without any way to combat it. It is all the "content" this game has anyways. If this doesn't get changed for PvE im out for good.

Hmm, will investigate this. Definitely not intended.

We own the island, when we put up a silo it fed all ships anchored. When you remove the gold from the silo (but still have berries in it) it seems to override the settings from the flag (it was set to "no payment"). Now that i removed the Silo again the gold flow to the island stopped. C12, EU PvE

  11. I had more time on my hands the last months than planned (broke my ellbow and was on forced vacation), so i dumped a lot of time into the game. I really like the idea, i am not complaining i didnt get my money worth, but the frustrating bugs around the core aspects of the game are finally driving me away after 1k+ hours spent. The focus is on completely pointless stuff and they keep adding more and more "new" "content" before they even sort the basics.

Also, at least for PvE, you should be able to stay away longer than for 7-10 days. I am the last of my company still playing and i cba to spent hours of hours with pure maintenance. You need to make this game more suitable to your actual playerbase, and at least for PvE thats small groups/Solo players with time commitments in real life. And no.. before someone goes down that road, "single" player is not really an option in a game as content starved as this.
