    Pistols

Pistols randomly quit firing. Even gave them to a mate loaded and fired fine for him. He reloaded and gave back and still wouldn't work. Specced in firearms down to carbines, durability well above 50% . Will continue to find why this happens. Posting in case someone else can replicate
  2. Having joined a company and losing possession of a couple of ships in the process, I went back to claim items out of storage. Encountered this issues, so I guess not only are the items in storage on my old ships gone forever, bt so will be all the items in my inventory. There are many legitimate reasons to boared others ship. So this isn't much of a fix, it's just another band-aid that causes more issues. But it's the history of the this company, let's resolve 1 issues by introducing more
  3. Says the guy that likes to brag about being one of the top 10 land owners. You may have camped claims to get all yousr, that may be you companies thing. But there are those of us who would like to do other things but still have the safety of a tiny little base to return to and not some land Baron on a power Trip to answer for. I do say power Trip because I've read, been quoted and replied to plenty of your post and this is what I see. The problem continues to be in this discussion, people like you. Complete lack of vision and unwilling to even remotely look at it from the other side of the fence. You happen to enjoy this style so everyone should just STFU because you got a good thing going. When the reality is, we don't care how much land you grab up, the system should allow one permanent claim so those of us who would like to do, I dunno, do other piraty things don't have to worry about people like you. The land claim system is a PVP system for guys that don't want to have to put up a real fight to stake their claim on the dynamic map. But we believe, us lowly surfs, that there is room for both styles of gameplay. Just because you don't agree, or like our lobbying for an altered system, does not mean you need to troll the forums trying to shove your fan boy attitude down our throats. So go be a good boy and go camp some hapless family man's claim cause his kid is sick and he has to been unable to play
  4. Um, by definition if you are playing an MMO, you technically are not playing "solo". But most of the discussion has been about small friend based companies And/or solo players. Some folks don't like the idea of a commitment to a group of folks they only met online. There is a certain degree of risk of losing your crap just joining a company. If the relationship goes south you can lose alot of hard work. It's about solo or small groups gaining a small secure foothold until some trusting bonds are formed. You have eluded to that being somewhat of a struggle yourself. And for persons who only have a couple hours or so to throw at a game in a day, it's a bit of a turnoff. And before you jump on the "this isn't the game for you" claim, let's just have the discussion of better options as a community and let the devs decide. Again, successful MMOs find a way to afford players of all walks of life the same opportunities. MMOs don't just cater to one playstyle, and that's what players opposed to making changes to the system seem to suggest
  5. Well remember, in the business world, the voice of the few are unheard through the voice of the many. And if you have read very many reviews, you would should understand where I'm coming from. And believe it or not, I've not said you were totally wrong. I'm saying, give us options. Some of us want to play a pirate game. Others enjoy the land Baron game. Both can co exist. But not without some balance and a whole lotta content
  6. I didn't say I need help, I do see how the mechanics are flawed. Trade ships are not pirating. And the mechanics there are flawed as well, although they were just introduce and will most likely be sorted out. As well as additional piraty content I'm sure. I'm saying, in it's current form, the game land claim system is more the main attraction and pirating in PVE isn't even a side show, it's more like the concession stand or the merch tent. And I agree, pirates made port if they lived that long, Which is why I introduce ideas in this the thread and others to give it more that feel and still giving us a more ship based option. At what point did I say I can't play help me? Don't just assume because I'll debate what I think are issues with the game as my inability to work the current mechanics. I debate them because I see people who do have issues constantly getting bashed. And because if we are just going to cater to the Ark crowd, then it's truly just an Ark mod. There has to be some flexibility to allow new customers to get into the game if you truly want to create the next big MMO. Keep in mind without customers, you the player suffers as the devs get cut back to a skeleton crew and have to churm out new content at a significantly reduced rate.
  7. I beg to differ plenty of other people where just given land in the first couple of days, all they had to do was sail thier raft out to the open Sea and start dropping flags, no land was claimed at release, all first come first serve. There are plenty of people who wish they had your problem. Gosh, stop working on my base or building my ship to stop a claim theft. There are literally thousands of people who have to go out, find land that's stealable, and cross thier fingers. Which oftens envoles days of scouring grids, and early on on rafts that could only sail with the wind. And when most of those people gave up and tried the lawless route, little of that in hospitable locations was actually left. So for some, a hundred hours in the game, are just getting a chance to actually start playing the game. And yes now plots are easier to claim, for 2 reasons, the devs realized the problem and slapped the current band-aid on the problem, and alot of people got discusted with the current state of the game and gave up already. That isn't a result of a fair and balanced working game mechanics. Now, imagine your tiny little Company is already 1 of the top 10 land owners in the game, what will happen when companies are a hundred plus man strong and decide they want to start taking land. If you can control so much with a small crew. What will the megas do? And it never ceases to amaze me it's the ones with large holdings, some of which were obtained in first couple of days when alot of us couldn't even log in, that say the system is fine. Cool then you support a server wipe and give everyone a fair shot. Heck, it's EA after all
  8. Don't misunderstand here, I have no interest in owning an island, or even part of one. What I'm saying is the core of the mechanics forces us into owning or settling some kind of land. If pirating is supposed to be the focal point of the game, why does land ownership have to take up so much of your time in the game. Again, differing of opinions, you may be happy with a pirate themed ark, I paid for a game that was advertised as a pirate MMO, that forces me to spend way to much time on dealing with and issues. You lobby your $25 and I'll be happy to lobby mine. And right now, I'm with a vast customer base that feels at this point it's way too land focused and not enough pirating. I'm happy basing off my ship, just give me more ability to do so. And I have introduced ays in this discussion
  9. I proposed on another thread that they do more to make living on your ship more viable. Increase weights, maybe have a drydock system where you can "store" ships. It's a pirate game after, life on the open see. Or warehouse space on freeports for those of us that are not big into the building and farming aspect. I can go do that in ark. But for PVE they have to give us some npc ships to actually play the pirating trade. And if they want to continue to have a major focus on a land Baron MMO, they should update the dynamic map to more reflect a landowners ability to manage his land dwellers. If it is all about the bragging rights, it might encourage landowners to do more for his population then just tax them and give them permission to live there. You build a serf a house, he may actually want to live there and pay your tax, then you can control where he builds. Maybe some protection against the wilds. For those that just need a place to store thier shit and build some boats, this could offer a solution. But we need incentives for landowners to rent and renters to pay tax
  10. I was being optimistic lol. The fanboys of the current system don't seem to understand how the system screw them in the end. Less revenue equels less content over time. This is supposed to be more then a land grab game. But with this system, that will always be it's primary focus. Odd for a game with such small land mass
  11. Look at it from another side, what is the point of designing a 40,000 man server system, and paying for those resources, if you have a system in place that allows 4,000 people to take over the server, and maybe a couple thousand more willing to play with those folks, just to have to open another server, spend money on more resources, just to attract more cusromers. Doesn't seem like an efficient business model
  12. I'm afraid on PVE I'd have to disagree, once 2 or 3 mega tribes control the whole server, that's who will be fighting over the land. Anyone new or small will be forced to play by thier rules or just don't play. There has to be a system of checks and balances to give more folks a more equal shot to thier own success in game. Every SUCCESSFUL MMO understands that each paying customer has to be afforded the same opportunities and let them decide how to play. This system sets it up to a few megas to make those decisions for other players. And IMO reduces the successful growth of revenue. Which in turn takes away from you the player
  13. Isee both sides of the argument. But it's not the only argument. Some will argue this is a large company game, others don't believe that you have to Company up at all. The rent system favors the solo, or 2-3 man group paying rent to larger companies. But it doesn't leave alot of room for small mid sized companies to grow. And for those of you with entire islands who want to bitch that others just want things handed to them, most of you had just that. The ability to log into game the first few days and go out and claim up land Willy nilly. Those of us that got screwed by a pre Alpha network code didn't get that chance, even if we did pay and download the Minute it released. I'll be fine if they keep the land claim system, just do I wipe once they have connection issues sorted out and give everyone a fair shake. But that won't resolve issues for Grapeshot, because players buying the game in the future are gonna feel the same way, and that is going to reduce sales. And in the end that screws us all, less sales, less money into game development. Society as a whole is greedy and selfish. It's up to the devs to make it balanced. And right now the ones who like the system on PVE are the land holders, the ones that don't are living in lawless. That simple
  14. Sandbox PVP MMO? Odd because it has a PVE server, or is it just because you like to PVP you have blinders and don't see the part where it's advertised as Co Op PVE as well
  15. Here some thoughts on ships as bases. Increase carry weights of ships, make things like smithy and forges and such as optional modules for ships and redesign them to to use ship space more efficiently. And look at how resources are stored on ships. Are you really gonna store resources like wood in little boxes? No you would stack it in the hold. Give the ship it's own inventory straight out of the box. Don't want you fighting ship cluttered with resources and crafting table. Pull into port drydock your crafting ship (store) and sail off in you pirating ship. That in itself frees up land, forts only for companies of a certain size ( huge) and farming, taming pens restricted to inland parts of the island, coastal regions being a no build zone. Again just some thoughts
  16. Is there truly enough usable land for 40000 players and resources to co exist. You have a ship, this should be your base. It is a pirate game after all, not a farming game. But the way it's currently designed it's actually just ark with a pirate theme. And unfortunately, without land, you can't build a ship. I'm not saying they should take out land ownership or farming or anything else, I'm saying, its just not a well thought out system with this type of map. I just don't think it's feasible to fit it all in and keep everyone happy. And any successful MMO has to have a certain lvl of balance to afford everyone the same opportunities and let the player decide what to do with them. Often players have to make hard choices early on i.e. Which class to play. I'm not advocating classes either, it just an example
  17. First all though it's just an ARK mod, it's not ARK, I personally wouldn't have ever bought anything ARK related if it hadn't been single player and private server hosting. And I know TONS of people who feel the same. ARK official servers have always been jacked and not a pleasant experience for alot of players. We did adapt, we played single player. This, is not ARK, it's being designed as an MMO, with thousands of players per server. So unless they address the land issues, or in my opinion eliminate them( it is a pirate game after all) people will not enjoy this land system in pve in mass. If a couple hundred people on a 40,000 person server own all the land, how successful do you think this will be. We all have differing opinions here, but camping a claim for hours or days of RL to steal it or prevent it's theft isn't my idea of fun. But the truth is, the resources system and the claim system don't work together. Not enough land to build and still maintain a decent resource lvl
  18. You can make the argument that it's EA and devs are patching like mad. Because that's what most of the official ARK server players here in Atlas are going to do. But alot of them have learned to except these flaws in Ark. (And/or exploit them) But these devs are talking about creating an MMO with 40,000 players on a server and those type of game mechanics are not going to work. Actually I wouldn't own any Ark Dlc if it hadn't been for single player mode or private server hosting. Both of those options are out for this. Private server is a joke for what you get for your money. Best thing devs can do is start communicating. Give us a roadmap. Help us understand where they are going. Might help us understand why some of these mechanics exist (other then it's just an ARK mod and they were carried over in the code). At this point the games reputation is at stake if they don't. And the devs own the player toxicity problem. Was present on ark PVE servers and they did nothing with the game mechanics to fix it
  19. Aaarrr does me heart good to see this discussion continue. I agree this is a game breaking feature in it's current state for PVE servers. Alot of good ideas and valid points. I actually love the idea your ship is your base. The biggest drawback to this, is you have to have a base to build a ship. Maybe eliminating that could be an option. Drag your resources to your home port of call and trade them to the shipwright and maybe a little gold for their service. Maybe have a few designated islands like freeports your company can rent or buy a warehouse for all your crafting and storage needs. Leaving more islands free of buildings thus still providing resources.. you make landfall, set up a camp with a short 24-48 decay timer and refill your stocks, gather your trade goods and ship back out. Make Freeport true bustling ports. But I think most importantly the devs need to weigh in on this issue and have some discussion with the community. Because until it's addressed. The current system is game breaking on many lvls. Not just want to be land owners, but for resources and atmosphere. I think we the community should implore them to have this discussion. After thinking a bit more. This could open up a player driven shipwright. Wich could also take some stress off the skill tree issues as well. And does more to force the player driven trade environment. With city owned shipyard the player pays a rental fee on and in turn charges players fees according to the resources individuals provide to build the ship.
  20. Wait now, you are quoting and clearly misrepresenting my quote. I obviously am not a fan boy. I obviously am a fan of EA and you can quote me on that. Never did I assume one goes hand in hand with the other. I respect that you are enjoying the game. Clearly I am jealous, quote me on that as well. Because I didn't get to for a week, and my experience since (floating from one island to the next for days on end on a raft looking for what all of those who got in on day 1 or 2 got to take advantage of) has been far from entertaining or relaxing. Wich to a certain extent is the basic requirements for a video game. I got a wave simulator. A pretty wave simulator I'll concede, but not the swashbuckling pirate experience I'd expected. Not even close. 41.5 hours later I have a raft, and, well that's it
  21. And before we go blaming it ony PC mine is clearly not top of the line, but it is running a ryzen chipset, rx570 2gb vid card with 32gb Corsair ram on a win 10 64 bit op system with up to date drivers on cable internet. At the risk of coming off too rightious, I've been doing the whole gaming thing online since 1996 playing MUDs and any decent and some not so promising MMO's ever since. I have Alpha, Beta tested before. I do know the routine. And this is not my first early access. I'm a fan of the method and support it. Having said that. I do get sick and tired of Dev, and game producers that seem to take advantage of us the gaming community, because we tend to flock towards the next new thing like junkies to a crack house.
  22. Well you may be right there, im not sure it clearly states it should be playable to all who purchase, or even the majority. As long as streamers, fan boys, and professional gamers can play, we good right
  23. I beg to differ sir. It clearly is advertised as EA not Alpha tester. EA implies there is a basic functioning game with some bugs, and little content. This is not that. This has been a jumbled up piece of non functioning trash since day one. And I have already paid, therefore I have the right to my opinion. Because at this point, that is all I got for my money. You sir have the right to skip over my post and not read them. And if they bother you so terribly bad, I would highly recommend doing just that. Because if you didn't like that one, SPOILER ALERT your not gonna like the rest
  24. I wouldn't count on it. It has been quite a bit since I played on an official ARK server, but last I remember PVP and PVE ARk were the same basic rules set
