  1. So after our community attempted to try Atlas for a third time around, I now feel the same way about Atlas, as I do Dark and Light. Both games are Snail Games attempts to duplicate Ark's massive success in other gaming genera. And these attempts have failed. Atlas still feels like a really buggy mod for Ark. It suffers from a serious lack of content outside of pvp. What little content it does have is locked behind the Kraken, which is also a buggy hot mess. The taming system and breeding system are so disgustingly buggy/tedious it's frankly just not worth the time investment. The claim system in pvp/pve are both straight out of a Steve King novel.

The only thing that could remotely save Atlas would be the ability for customers to host the whole map unofficially without having to spend thousands of dollars per server/map. And that's just never going to happen due to poor planning on the development teams part.

With less than a 1,800 people world wide logging in during peak times total, Atlas is a Dark and Light 2.0. Atlas will stay in EA just like DnL permanently. The development will eventually be pulled away as well. Just like DnL. And Atlas will become another quick cash flow for Snail Games during Steam Sales. Atlas was a good idea in theory, but poorly put into practice. The development teams time would be better spent on better projects.

Friends requested my thoughts here, these are my thought. Instead of WoW clones, we're now getting Ark clones. And until you stop trying to get your next fix, this shit will continue. Atlas is a failure, stop playing it, it's only fueling a slow painful death. Grapeshot (Snail Games) used bait and switch to take money and run. They took your money, stop letting them waste your time as well. Atlas has never and will never have the success of Ark. You continuing to play this sad corpse of a game, only furthers it toward zombie-hood.

LET IT DIE! When it's truly dead, Grapeshot (Snail Games) may finally learn to stop trying to recreate Ark in other styles.

  2. Currently players who want to host must pick a set amount of maps or completely break their banks to get the whole map. If single player is able to play on the whole map, then it is 200% possible for the WHOLE MAP to be hosted on unofficial private servers without the current silly system. This needs to be implemented as soon as possible. My community would love to play Atlas again, but never again on toxic official servers, with no GM support.

That's possible.  The claim system has its good and bad points, but it's not all lawless pillar spam.  Player levels are down enough that you and your friends could claim a fairly large island, although I have no idea what BFE is.  🙂

BFE is an abbreviation for "Bum Fuck Egypt" or "Butt Fuck Egypt," which is used to denote "out in the middle of nowhere."

  4. Is Atlas worth returning too at this moment? Some friends and I are considering it. However it looks like the PVE land claiming system is now complete shit and may as well be lawless pillar spam. Am I wrong? Someone please correct the videos I've been seeing. There are about 22 of us looking to come back (MAYBE). We want a island in BFE with no one. If that's not possible now, we're not interested.

  5. Players will come back to the game once Jat is gone. Dudes like universally hated, feel free to check steam communities and social media. Ark improved 120% once him and his band moved on. Same needs to happen with Ark.

Every idea he puts in place is trash, and further ruins game play. Hence bubbled PVE ships. Now PVE gets lawless trash building EVERYWHERE....

Remove Jat and the game will succeed once again.

    #Wall Jat Out

    #Make Atlas Great Again

  6. Outlaws of the Old West is actually a good game...….Snail Games may have finally done something right. The best part, it's a completely new Development team, with zero ties to Wildcard or Grapeshot. Been playing single player till servers go live, so far it's great. Building system is WAY more polished, so is combat. The map is freaking massive, and being expanded every quarter. Also, it's got fucking Trains! I repeat....Trains!

Ya ya were "all" not gonna play til we get what "we" want...

Take your trolling elsewhere, and learn how to read properly. I am referring to my private gaming community (clan). I've edited to reflect that, since I now see users such as yourself are too fucking retarded to read.

  8. After reading Dollie's most recent Captains Log, it seems that the planned changes to the PVE claiming system (while better than the lawless style) simply are not a quality solution to the deeper issue. No one wants pillar spam. However, my clan also doesn't see itself returning to play under the new suggested PVE claiming system. If I am correct, this basically means unless you have the settlement claim that owns the island, you are SOL as a single player, or small community. Which leaves everything in favor of mega companies once again. It also means the settlement claim owner can simply demo anything they aren't happy with.

The simply fix for this issue was to remove sea claims completely (UNDERWATER LAND CLAIMS AS WELL). Then only allow company claims based on the amount of players in the company. One per active player in the company. Once a player was offline for 90+days, they no longer counted towards the company claim totals. In addition completely removing tax banks and taxes in PVE. That was a simply, and fair way of handling the situation.

Instead we get lazy solution to a much deeper problem. I continue to keep my eye on the game, but unfortunately won't be returning anytime soon. We all paid the game (EA or not). therefore we can and should expect much better service from the company than what has been shown thus far. Wipes happen in EA, however clearly lazy development solutions will not be stood by.

Was there some info posted somewhere?  I haven't seen any in here and didn't want to go on a social media treasure hunt for it.

I looked everywhere and have seen nothing either.

  10. Never seen a game die literally overnight, even an EA game. Atlas Devs just broke that record the second they announced the new claim system changes. Which is the main complaint I keep hearing from other players who are leaving and not returning. No one wanted pillar spam, and that's what we got. Now you'll just have single players spamming whole islands, and still no place to call home.

I will honestly be surprised if the project isn't completely shut down. The huge PVE guild next to us went back to Conan Exiles permanently. Gave all their stuff away, not that it matters. Our zone went completely dead and these players are not returning. Which is concerning. I have no interested in playing a 700+ island ghost town game. Looks like even our small community is going to a stable unofficial server.

This is a valid concern and needs to be addressed. No one I know wants pillar spam owned islands. No one.

  11. @scoffy

Oh, look a troll on a newly made account...meant for trolling. I'd actually not be surprised if this Dollie on a 2nd account....lol.

I've never played a game since 1997 that the customer service team took days or weeks to resolve in-game issues. If it did no one would want to play them, hence this game.

Also, if I pay for something EA or not...I expect proper timely friendly customer service. PERIOD. If you say you don't you are simply being dishonest.

    Now fuck off.

This thread was created two hours after the submission of a ticket related to a failed Company merge on a PVE network. Our Customer Service crew rarely respond to a ticket in such a short amount of time. Exceptions to this more pertain to incidences where myself or Jat step in ourselves when the issue reported is time-sensitive and has potential wide-spread consequences in regards to the overall playerbase. Along with being Community Managers, we are on the Live Services team and identifying and working to repro and resolve game breaking bugs in a broader sense are aspects of our roles along with investigating player reports and Enforcement in the more complex and far reaching cases.

Whilst our resources lie on the side of technical solutions in order to address the underlying issues and, ideally, resolve those we do view Customer Service as an intrinsic aspect of the overall player experience. We've recently expanded our Customer Service resources and we will look at that again as we progress in our development cycle.

I think it is worth noting that I advised this player that I would assist them in getting their friend's items and creatures transferred across to the new Company myself if it hadn't been resolved by our GM team by tomorrow.

    @Dollie

Unfortunately, this statement is simply untrue Dollie. This has been a build-up of multiple tickets from multiple people within our community and others. While I understand you are trying to save face, your statement is simply false. As a matter of fact, I still have tickets open from weeks ago, still unanswered, which is the root of the problem. The fact you were able to reply in Discord meant you could have notified the team of the issues in order to get them resolved in a timely manner.....but simply couldn't be bothered. While we understand you are here for widespread issues, it doesn't change the sheer obvious lack in customer service at the end of the day. Which is what my post was about.

Also, I am fairly sure being locked out of your own company due to an in-game bug is a big deal. Seeing as land, tame, and ship decay timers are all running.

We PM'd you to notify you of the game breaking issue, so hopefully, it was taken seriously. Just as when I reported the Brig stuck in the middle of the ocean with full wind. With your response only being HALF the truth, it's become clear where Grapeshot stands. Your customer service is seriously lacking and needs to be fixed.

The way this was responded to has been eye-opening, to say the least. So as I understand it, we purchased the game in EA. But simply shouldn't expect support in a timely manner, if at all. I guess it's no wonder you guys were so shocked on your live stream by all the negative feedback and simply had to start ignoring it.

    P.S.

What I find even more HILARIOUS is the fact you know there is an issue, and see the tickets submitted. But simply refuse to address it, until tomorrow. When you could have once again, already made sure it was addressed. And we all know the ticket will not be answered anytime soon. So I'll be holding you to your word to resolve it personally first thing tomorrow.
