  1. They said thats still being worked on. All virtual till then.
  2. I'm actually rockin a whaling sloop... Made a friend yesterday trading seeds w a newer player, gave him some advice about handling sails, and he asked me if my ship was a dinghy.... ... lol
  3. So your saying I'm fudging something? Derp... lol Ok, guess I'll fiddle w things more. Tx @Gomez Addams
  4. Yea I've yet to see a completed trade that I'm aware of. 1. I can't figure out how to scroll through the logs. The UI just skips over it, or, I don't understand how to interact w it (console) 2. If I put out a trade that I'm offering 10k materials for 20k of another i would think the order may be filled by multipe sources. IF, big IF, it locks it into a 2 party activity then thats inefficient if I have to wait on them to farm it. Unless the goal is to boycot or embargo someone etc. I have it set to public and any route (I think), 10k for 20k, 1:2 ratio, like the stock market.. Jimmy fills 25% of the order, BillyBob fills 9%, etc until its done or deleted. 3. Didn't see salt or sugarcane. Maybe i missed it? 4. Eta would be nice also. I don't know if it's not working, if I messed my end up, or if its working fine (like a 3 day hold at a bank) 5. Also there was a vague reference to making "10" off the transaction, i think, right? If that means I'll make 10 gold for participating, well I dunno.... ummm . I want the mats due to fresh server etc.... I guess if things start piling up I'll play click for gold if I'm bored... I guess part of it also depends on how mechanics and content proceed, conservative start was stated etc.. i think one is transacting another is open,.. not sure though TTYL
  5. Here we gooo.. Wish me luck on my whaling sloop.
  6. Soo still 1 hour till update?... or what
  7. @McDangles lol at least i said MAYBE. Few caveats I ran 2 accounts simultaneously on side by side xboxs. One character did the chores/ cooking/ crop farming/ crafting/ etc and was specced in Encumbrance. Other account was built for captaineering, general adventuring, taming etc Also I lived in the Arctic and crushed it whaling... averaged like 1k gold per hour all in.. Never did a single map. Not one. Bought and traded for BPs I wanted. Also I found an abandoned breeding herd of MULTIPLE types of tames... Also i played PvE in Season 3 on the nice spacious map... Tried PvE in Season 4 but going from owning my own island and having 100k banked to that cramped lagfest made me say fugg it. May as well play PvP, live spartan and assume more wipes and messes were on the way anywho. So, long story short, you're probably right. Especially considering this is EA. Sorry forgot how spoiled I was double-boxing AND having a nice spacious map. Fingers crossed for ya that somehow these trade routes rain gold or the price/time investment is made reasonable. I stand corrected
  8. I guess the other thing i seen them used for was base raiding lawless. One grid over was lawless guys would go base raid in pairs. If someone didn't babysit the brig though they'd come back with a full inventory to a sunk ship. Because the stats are so off though people usually built them w 12 cannons in the rear or on one side, leaving the other side blank. It needs to be buffed, replaced w an actual middle point ship, or a 4th type above brig and below gally. Maybe thats what the ramming ship will be? @Lawdog2012 to your original point yes i agree theyre probably excessive. Still having some mixed emotions about it though. We wont know for a month or 2 after the wipe really. Pros Possibly less clutter improving server performance Possibly more 1v1, 2v2 fighting, ship boarding etc, could be fun if alot of people just forgo the big ships and start sailing around swinging onto each others lil throwaway sloops spearing and clubbing eachother.. lol Cons Too many to list but I'll try Takes FOREVER to travel a significant distance unless you can keep the weight down in a sloop Mid-high level SotDs plank a common sloop fairly quickly Theres ALOT of ways to quickly lose a 5k schooner and a 25k brig.... Barrels, glitch/ crash to desktop, icebergs, whales, crossing grids into an SotD fleet, newb mistakes (setting sail w/out proper repair supplies and/ or not realizing a "teammate" pilfered them), offline harbor run, getting simply outgunned or outplayed by a larger group-better quality ship-more experienced or better players, server wipe, cheating, insiding, not realizing a ship is over crewed, teammate borrows your ship and derps out... probably still a few invisible rocks around... The list goes on.. God forbid you're 30 minutes into a mission on the PvP server and an actual real life emergency comes up gotta park and pray, electric/ internet goes out... That "sense of accomplishment" will quickly turn to outrage for anyone not spending frugally... Possibly alot of disagreements and frustration inside companies regarding what to buy and when Based on the minimal info we have atm i think most companies will turtle up on their lil base/ island, spamming defenses thereby negating any server performance gains. Also i agree w @McDangles that the loot tables aren't right. I'd take it a step further and call the SotD loot table absolutely absurd. Flotsam yield about the same as SotD and they dont fight back.. This has ALWAYS contributed to player frustration imo. So yea I think the devs should be careful and, final thing, prices should be more like 1k, 5k, 25k or .5k, 2k, 10k. I agree w @Chucksteak that maybe the prices are appropriate for PvE (sorry y'all) but for PvP, no.
  9. Yea it was weird killed 2 blue whales, chopped em up, gold magically appearred in my inventory but there wasn't an actual loot option/ button. That may be an improvement actually... Dunno if devs reworked it to reduce loot stealing opportunities, or so that if 2 people tagteam a whale the loot gets auto split when both people chop it up. Just hope it's not a prepatch precursor to removing gold from whaling.. Fingers crossed
  10. Beds seemed to be working on straight up single player yesterday. The font was microscopic though. Also i had an invisible farmouse. It was there, working fine but completely invisible. In coop perhaps having a bed per person is required due to the tethering? Have each coop player place a bed, maybe? Never played this game coop... Can your friend even build structures?
  11. Ummm... False alarm?.. Rebooted the game and the gold was magically in my inventory... Even though I didn't get a loot prompt window. Corroboration would be nice though..
  12. Fartin around in single player, since I'm locked out of official servers due to a bug. Killed Monstrous Blue Whale, received achievement, yet it was not lootable. I was able to harvest the meat, blubber, etc. but ZERO gold. Are they still dropping gold on official? Someone please confirm yes or no.
  13. So umm.... Let me get this straight.. Your discouraging ship spam but doing nothing to address island spam?... The gold sink for ships will NOT balance island spam... People will just do what they always do when something is overpriced.. They wont buy it. If anything now island spam will be worse... No build caps or gold sinks there... Farms/ Warehouses/ Markets/ Control Points/ Invisible Ships are "THE way to earn gold"..... so now medium-sized company+ islands will just have 250 cannons, 250 puckles 10,000 pillars/ walls etc and a harbor w 25 sloops 10 schooners and EVENTUALLY 2 or 3 krakken galleys.. Hopefully I'm wrong
  14. @McDangles The odd man out is the brig... It was my favorite ship in PvE, season 3. Great for whaling/diving towards a rare resource location, slap on a cargo rack, farm mats, then whale/dive back home. Fantastic on that old map I'd avg ~1k an hour whaling, get some bps and multitask getting mats too. Was almost perfect. On Season 4 playing PvP however i had to run schooners. In PvP Brig lacks the speed of a schooner, for hit and runs, and it lacks the brute force/ team characteristics of a gally. The only thing people used it for was farming SotD in safe waters close to home. They got sank alot.. I don't know i mean a REALLY well prepared 2-3 person team COULD team play w them, but overall, they need better- base stats, more cannon ports, more crew slots and atleast a 3k weight increase. If a schooner is 5k, the brigs current cost should NOT be 5x a schooner and half of a gally, unless they buff it. Ok back to fartin around in this sloop, seeing if theres a "sloop-meta"
  15. Can't find disable fog of war in single player. Admin command? If so, know it?
  16. I'll admit this. Been fartin around in a lil sloop and its kinda fun so far in a nostalgic way..
  17. Lol this more of a smartass joke than a serious proposal but it could drive the point home if it was actually accomplished... Everybody,... Literally everyone on the ENTIRE map join into ONE SINGLE COMPANY. Name it "Fuck Barrels & Ships are Overpriced" Instead of a boycott think of it as a "sit in" or a "starvation protest"... It'd bring any REALISTIC TESTING to a screeching halt.. Probably get blacklisted for making such a suggestion but dgf style til death... It's funny to me at least dammit.
  18. I've clearly stated on the announcement thread that i disagree w the price model they've annonced, as have many others. Maybe its simply a bad decision, maybe there are some mechanics still incoming (trade, etc) that make it so that it won't be as terrible as it sounds, maybe they'll listen to the community and tune the prices down OR eliminate them. Time will tell. Anyway I was thinking of a gameplay loop that could be introduced and possibility help over the long run... *placing devils advocate hat on* Place an NPC in freeports that purchases ships FROM players at a profit, say 10%. So you'd drive your schooner to him, sell it, and in return receive 5500 & a sloop to carry back some of of your NPCs. This would also introduce a hazard also since youd have to make a return voyage in a sloop carrying 5500. Obviously a teammate could escourt you or carry the cargo to make it safer, but theres still a ship on sea w significant plunder... You get the idea. *devils advocate hat off* I still think a 100fold price increase is a terrible idea, but, perhaps I'm wrong. In the announcement i made 3 threads basically stating why. However, setting that aside for now, anyone like this idea? Constructive tweaks or tangents? TTYL
  19. The new direction on official.... The entire map has 7 pirate captains and 300 deckhands looking for a ship to ride on...
  20. Follow up do you guys have ANYONE spreadsheeting the time investment ratios for your proposals? Even for a well seasoned player your propsed ship costs are WAY out of line. Is there something your holding back? Did the loot tables get adjusted on creatures to add gold as a drop or something? The only "theme" i agree with is that gallys should be expensive. Sidenote the difference between a schooner/brig/gally isn't even balanced correctly -----> schooner max crew 14 w 10 cannon ports -----> brig max crew 18 w 12 cannon ports ------> gally max crew 56 w 52 cannon ports (right? Cant remember exact gally specs lol) You don't see that also? Really?
  21. I tried to play devils advocate in general discussion and provide some logical reasons for making gold a required mat. However the prices your proposing for ships are completely out of line, especially when compared to the price to upkeep and puckle spam an island. Your current plan WILL result in the following if not adjusted. 1. Megas will take the majority of the CPs and spam trades for 3 wood to generate gold. They will lock out other companies via the preference list further monopolizing the advantage. 2. A TON of really pissed off smaller teams and angry infighting when a ship gets stolen/ crashed/ xbox crashed/ lost to a bug-cyclone-SotD-fleet-whale etc 3. Swarms of people sailing for hours in a sloop only to get their ass kicked on shore in 15 seconds and the sloops destroyed in 30 seconds. If you want to increase the cost of ships, fine, but ONE HUNDRED FOLD? Try.. -----> Schooner 250 -----> Brig 1000 -----> Galley 5000 or try zero cost build on the ship but add a DAILY/ WEEKLY upkeep cost, similar to an island. Wow. Bad idea. I mean literally terrible. Good luck
  22. Try lawless, or see if a company will let you join or ask if someone will let ya settle on their island. Everything is in limbo, kinda, until the upcoming wipe. Sucks but I'd rather just give it to ya straight. Better to take one to the head than 5 in the chest. Good luck
  23. Same here. Been on a break since just before that mechanic was introduced. Tried to play MP Thursday, crashed to desktop at a control point, haven't been able to log back in since, filed a bug report. Was using a freeport sloop. Too busy right now playing another game w my kids to try anything. Good luck
  24. Dunno, sorry, but you could look up the command to just spawn in a schooner . Dunno that one off the top of my head either. GL
