Oceans are just loading screens you can starve in.

Topic basically says it.  Spent most of the last day sailing around, and man is it boring.  98% of the play area is a complete void.  There could really stand to be more islands per zone, upping the 2-3 we have per zone to 4-5 would go a long way, but having some kind of features between major islands like reefs, little atolls, or even sea caves to explore would make the world feel a lot more populated and alive.

Bare in mind it’s the first few days of the game. Give it time for people to build up armadas of ships to bum you on the high seas.

Have you even bothered looking underwater? Whole world down there.

Plus all shipwrecks will be lootable.  

Heaven forbid you have to make some progress before exploding on the forums.

How gorgeous those "loading screens" are though...some of the nicest water I've seen on this scale of a game.

Don't think I'm exploding at all, just saying it's kinda dull.  If I wasn't shooting the **** with my clanmates I'd be grinding my teeth.  I have dived down and looked at the ocean floor, but while it's pretty there really isn't anything down there worth going for except the visuals anywhere I've been that you can't get on land.
