So yes early access and all that.  However why isn't any of this going through the PTR?  Why even have a PTR then?  Is live now the PTR?  When will the new island be up?

well, considering they started working on it literally 1 week ago and that they probably wont release a barren new map with nothing to do i would assume it should take them at least a month to set up the map + trading routes + some new basic features but that is just my guess.

best would be a tri faction system with capture points giving the dominant faction a bonus of some sort, this way the 2 weaker factions ally to over throw the dominant faction, then fight among themselves to become the new dominant faction, this is rinse and repeat, because no one faction can stay dominant for a long period of time.

If they are gonna keep megas they certainly have to come up with some idea to incite conflict between them

You PVE people really need to get into the pirate mood more. Where is the fun of sitting on everything with zero chances of taking a hit?
Used to play on PVE but the community there was more toxic than on PVP, and it wasn't too exciting to log in to a fool-proof base.

Then I decided to hold a small island on EU-PVP with a crew of 8 friends. Most of whom barely played.
After setting up base defences (Puckles, Cannons, etc) as well as high thick stone walls around the flag base, we had no problems with attackers.

Just saying, it's not all that hard to keep up. Then again, if you get attacked by a big company then it's GG.
Actually gathering gold and up-keeping the base was breeze after the initial setup. But you guys should know that since you've done it on PVE.

    Get on with the times.

the probelms with your perspective are:

    1) This game has so poor game design that my only friend that accepted to play it with me got so bored that he doesnt want to hear about this game again

    2) Megas: the concept of megas doesnt have a place in this game, its like a tsunami that destroys everything it finds while contributing to nothing to add value to the game

    3) Companies: if you join a company that doesnt belong to real life friends you find yourself in a position in wich they usually ask you the gather resources all day long, i didnt join this game to be a farmer.

if there is demand for resources i rather be a trader than someone's slave and i rather see several medium size companies fighting echother and maintaining balance than 1-3 megas literally abusing everyone else while at peace with other megas

Will I keep my character on the new map from the old map, I play official btw

no, as stated above the new map will come with a new wipe, and ofc once the game leaves early access a new wipe will take place (thats the standar behaviour when a game is officially released) so expect at least 2 more wipes

Because, it almost immediately becomes a theme park game and not an open world sandbox game. You are unable to attack X% of the people you meet, thus making you not a real pirate. Think of all the faction games you've played. They are almost all, if not all, theme park mmos. Its probably something that could be incorporated in a PVE server, but then the PVE people would still be upset if there is ANY PVP.

I dont think the game's genre is set in stone (it should tho, but considering the game's current situation...)  as i see it factions would play an orgnizative rol in a very disorganized array of players, mostly fault of a poor game design, as of now, megas dont attack other megas (unless a wipe is comming) because they have no reason to, pirates are not pirates but griefers that have fun spaming fundations everywhere because they have nothing more fun to do, factions would kinda give everyone a "natural enemy" to attack/hunt, wich could compensate to some degree the lack of conflict incitement of the game.

Given that I've played for over 1000 hours, I've already got way more than my moneys worth out of the game, so if I don't like the new changes and stop playing I'm not too bothered.

To me the fun of the PVE side of thigs was exploring & sailing. Well, they already dumbed down the sailing, the ruined the exploring by making the whole map visible, not just showing the places you'd been.

But the real issue with the PVE side was lack of things to do once you'd done the basics of finding somewhere to live, built a home and a few ships. If they had ever manage to get the wild pirate encampments in, that would have helped.

Presuming PVE is staying in some form, then a wipe means there is some fun to be had doing all the initial stuff again, but after that it comes back to lack of things to do.

removing the fog of war was totally a letdown, but allowing players to import someone else's map was a big mistake too

I think I get what they're trying to do but it still doesn't make any sense to me.  This game is billed as an MMO.  However in most of my gameplay I have had little to no interaction with other players other than to trade with.  I think they need to focus more on in-game systems to group like-minded players to go off on adventures with.  You shouldn't have to go outside of it to a website or discord channel to get a group for something.  I think they are simply squishing the map to account for the dwindling player base.  Even with the dwindling player base on PvE there were still so many bases taking up beach real estate and hardly any other users logged on.  I think in my grid square I've never seen more than 10 people on at a time.  So I think that's why they are pushing PvP.  So people can just fight for the space on the islands.  That's cool and all but if you're a solo player it's probably going to suck.  Not sure how else they plan to control the beach overcrowding unless they planned on a lot of people not coming back after the wipe.  I've been around since shortly after this game was available on Steam.  Been wiped a few times.  I was accidentally playing on EU PvE and was happy after the last wipe to start off on US PvE.  Now I have to go back?  Sigh.  I will probably at least check it out but I don't have much interest in PvP unless they put something in that at least gives solo players a chance.

This game is not an MMO is a survival, the MMO tag was simple a bait for a bigger money grab.

i got rid of the stutters by added 16gigs of ram total 32, before when i alt tabbed out and looked at task manager game was using 12 to 14 gigs, after increase sometimes id hit 18 gigs ram despite have 8 gigs on my video-card. but i still get stutters in massive 100 player harbor battles.

interesting, unfortunately i am not willing to buy +16GB RAM for this game alone as all the other games i play seem to do perfectly fine with what i have, but that info can hopefully help this guys know what part of the code to focus on improving.

There will probably be performance optimizations, if that's what you're meaning.  The game is quite gorgeous on medium and above, and it definitely requires a beefier GPU than Ark at the moment.  Try playing around with your settings.  Stay away from ambient lighting effects, shadows, etc if your machine is struggling.  If it's trees doing it, lower the ground foliage density.

well i wouldnt call it georgeous (specially now that i am playing division 2, wich btw performs very well considering the high graphical fidelity it works with) but yeah i remember doing that in the past, if i recall properly foliage density showed an improvement, but in the end i have no intention on playing again until they present the new version of the game + remove decay timers, just considered this to be the right time to mention it in case any changes in that regard can be done.

  10. honestly i prefer silence over missleading/biased/incorrect posts like Dollie's, we cant be critic until they deliver, my suggestion is just play something else in the meantime, if what they deliver is bad you would already be having fun with something else if it is good then the waiting wasnt so boring.

Hey Devs and Atastians, this has been discussed on discord so I thought i'd bring it here . In pvp most people get upset when offline raiders just destroy all their stuff for loot. So why not introduce lockpicking at various levels of difficulty? And have a mini game style of picking? Lemme know what u think. thx

i would prefer to blow the fuck up the door with cannons ^^

Why do you have stutters when looking around? Have you tried launching in low memory mode? Are you in a harbour with 20 galleons etc?

Would be nice if there was some optimisation, ark runs much better than atlas on my rig. You know the history of this game though, so all I can say is good luck.

it has always happened since i bought the game,  its a persistent issue, the game seems to struggle quite a bit whenever it has to re-render the enviroment on cam rotation (most specifically trees) so climates with lots of trees were always an awfull experience for me, wich is why i decided to live in the desert wich almost never gave me that problem.

i always play on low memory mode to improve the experience as much as possible, last time it was just my newly created naked charater and the island i was spawned on, no ships or buildings around.

Yeah, i know, i havent put any hopes behind the question, i can just keep playing Division 2 or even go back to BDO but i would like to have a sea related game in my repertoire to play every now and then but for some strange reason not many devs seem intrested in the concept, worst case scenario i could just buy sea of thieves but that game seems more fun to play with close friends than solo.

@Alesan93 is there anything i said that confused you? do you need any clarification?

If that was even remotely true I think we all know they would make a new company give it a new name and sell it to us full price.

    - the map (wich is the most important core feture of the game) has been redesigned.

-The are introducing trading routes wich means also a redesign on how the economy in this game works

    - The game right now is an amalgam of poorly designed features that dont connect with eachother properly (if at all)

if i was given the lead to a game like this i would go to the very fundations of it, simply because if you plan to build something on poor fundations whatever you build will end up falling apart, i am not saying it is gonna happen for sure, i am saying the recently announced features and changes align with that possibility.

anyway you are entirely correct, if they could sell us this game all over again they would do it, wich is why i wouldnt be surprised if when they release this game officially (in whatever state it is) they call it completed and immediately start working on a DLC for it.

  15. People seems to be eagerly waiting for the new version of ATLAS asking about changes, giving feedback and all that, but most people seem to forget the current state of the game when it comes to the technical aspects, its unacceptable to have a game with such poor graphic quality that stutters while just using the camera to look around, i dont rly care about graphics in this game since its pretty much a lost cause but a poor performance is definetly a deal breaker, so i would like to request @Chismebeard@Nami and @Primus a clarification about this topic whenever you feel ready to share info with us.

    • Confused 1

  16. there is no point in giving feeedback of the game as we know it, you guys seem to be forgeting that the game might be redone from scratch, just hold the flood of "suggestion/feedback" threads until the devs announce what they are gonna deliver.

Yes. I’m new here. I said that at the start. To the forums that is, not the game.

And genuinely, I’m very sorry that people have had such a bad history with the game or more directly previous developers. But note that most of our alliance guys have been playing since day one through all the Chinese hacking and before. Some of the questions are from them.

And for those of us who haven’t lost all faith completely and still get a degree of enjoyment out of the game, we have to hope the third one is the charm. I’m not defending the actions of previous staff that have let down the player base but if the new ones let us down as well then soon there’s won’t  be a game left to discuss anyway will there?

    KT

i dont have any problem with you asking questions, nor i do if you still enjoy the game, as i have mentioned in other posts of mine, i dont want people to think like me, i just want people tho be informed, so they are able to take good decisions, wich is why i share and explain my perspective, other than that we can only wait and see what happens.

  18. 11 hours ago, Kingston Towne said:

Have you still continued to play for those 18 months while giving feedback? If so then you obviously still enjoy the game and have accepted it may change over time. But have had the faith to play it regardless. We all knew a wipe was coming, 2x was on way too long for there not to be.

Its like the Wall Street crash...people will either recover from it and carry on as before with the knowledge and experience of the game and probably end up stronger than before or will call it a day and find something different. Either way, there will be new players constantly coming in so the devs look at the bigger picture.

They won’t want to alienate their player base if it can be avoided though, and I hope this will be the last wipe.

We have 3 new developers at least now. We can only speculate on what happened to the old ones, but perhaps they’ve been replaced because they weren’t paying attention?

If they’re anything worth their salt, now will be the time they’re going through community posts and taking note of what’s being said. Especially after the recent changes. Now may be the best time therefore to present some of your feedback.

    KT

you should not ask a question and the answer it yourself. no, i havent play the game, i quit the moment they introdued the decay timers (shortly before the developers completely abandoned atlas to work on ARK), but i have been around the forums watching and in special ocasions posting simply because i was particularly curious about how would ATLAS's deeply complacent community with several white knights defending it would react, it was fun to see all those who bashed me, called me negative and ignorant ended up aligning their toughts with my statements.

you cant compare at all, the most people lost here was only a few bucks (and hopefully their childish inocence), there is nothing to come back stronger from, only the lesson of what cosutumers get when they blindly trust a company, as for the devs tell me where are the new playes coming constantly, we literally are on on the lowest point we have even been:

    https://steamcharts.com/app/834910

you talk about the wipes as if they were the problem, they said beforehand that there would be wipes and even tho at a point they stated that there would be no more wipes in the future the most we can conclude from that is that they have no organization at all and have no idea what they are doing, but as i said that is not the problem at all.

you seem to be rather new here so let me hive you some info that you might have missed, this is the 3rd lead designer that we have, the 3rd! wanna know what happened with the secon one? he quit like a month after being hired, wanna know why? because the company decided to grab all his team and assign it to developing ARK, obviously disrupting all the deadlines he had promised and all the road map that he had presented, so he had to quit to preserve his reputation as a lead designer (decision for wich i respect him), and the first lead designer? well he is the one that brought the game to its current state that is very self explanatory.

They sold a game to 50k people, they grabed the money, they grabed the team, took them both to developa different game and from 15 months they gave a big "FUCK YOU" to the 50k+ players that bought the game under the promise that it was being worked on, THAT, not the wipes, is the problem.

the game is in shambles now, we have a game that is so disfunctional in so many aspects that the only way (or the most efficient) they could rework this into a half decent product would be by starting all over from scratch (wich apparently is what they seem to have in mind, its too early to be sure) and dont get me wrong, if they pull it up i will be glad because after all i already paid for it, but dont ask me to be spit in the face and then come and pretend it never happened, there is something called dignity.

  19. 1 hour ago, Kingston Towne said:

Well then ask some questions of your own if you like that are more relative to your own play style. Feel free, the more feedback the devs get from the player base the better right?

Unless they have specific information on what you didn’t like and why, they can’t ever look to address the issues you have to improve gameplay for people.

    KT

we have giving feedback for already 18 months, and here we are 18 months after launch and we dont even have a map yet! ROFL.

If you are asking me of  specifics? I have no idea as I do not play PVP I play PVPE that being said, a faction on Atlas would make it so that you had to pick a side and you can't talk or trade with anyone on the other side.

It would ok for pvp I guess but would be dumb for pve and has no place in a pve game.

For factions to make sense they'd have to  create a lore reason to split everyone into two separate groups which makes no sense at all on a game based on being a pirate lolol.

Maybe if they made it optional like you join one of two militias but, that you didn't have to.

i was just wondering if we were talking about the same thing, probably whoever you heard talk about that was referring to rivalry with the chinese, i was referring to something different 🙂

I STRONGLY URGE ANY PLAYER WHO SEES THE POTENTIAL IN THIS GAME TO FIRMLY BOYCOTT THIS PRODUCT UNTIL THE FOLLOWING CONDITIONS ARE MET.

    A. REMOVAL OF THE DOUBLE TALK FLAG

    B CONCRETE DEADLINES INTRODUCED REGARDING THE FOLLOWING.;

New clothin, ship and building skins

A functional alliance system allowing spawn sharing

Both PvE and PvP sections on ONE MAP. IF CO A WANTS TO HAVE A WEEKLY Dingy fight w CO B it shouldnt be rocket science. Create a zone, issue the warnings and when the spawn bubble wears off then Viola 8 people beat eachother to death w oars.  Easy Peezy.

Until these VERY, VERY, simple demands are met i strongly urge EVERY AYER TO TEMPORARILY BOYCOT

Thank you for reading the rant and dont panzy out...give ita positive rating

    Pffffffft......long over due

I would suggest you to use a different set of words in your approach to this matter, the perception of the word boycot is rather negative and often associated with brainless/ignorant masses that complain about something that is most of the time completely unrelated to them.

That said the approach i would take at this situation would be that of consumer rights, as in the end this is nothing but twisted bussiness practices, we paid for something and then that something was changed, that much we cant complain about since we were warned about it, yet we were never told that they would halt the project and that they would take the team and the money and run away but since there are not rigid standars (yet) about what they had to deliver they are not doing something strictly illegal.

But we are still consumers and as comsumers we can talk with eachother, exchange opinions and experiences about the product and suggest OR DISCOURAGE the aquisition of that product, so we are technically not boycoting, we are informing our fellow players about the characteristics of this particular product, its developers, and our gameplay experience in it, and we have several tools at our disposals, like game reviews in Steam, Twitter, Gaming magazines or even facebook.

I in particular follow several gaming youtubers that keep their followers updated in regards of the several game's news and updates and ofc every time i see ATLAS mentioned i love to SHARE my experience and knowledge about this game and its developers to make sure that those consumers are well informed before deciding what game to buy, simply because in dark times like this when moral, decency and reputation have lost their meaning we have too look after eachother.

I had four tigers, born within minutes of each other two were a set of twins, I brought them to juvie, had meat in their inventory ( jerky ) and had meat (jerky) in the trough and one of the twins died as well as one of the other tigers, is this an issue that has been reported yet and I just missed it? I have never had an animal starve and to make sure I always fill their bellies full of whatever it is they eat in case the trough has a bug and it was no different this time what got me is, the trough was still full and the twin still had 100's of jerky in it's stomach. There is no place to turn this in at as the three options they give don't match the problem it is not an ingame problem as it is already a done thing but this is really a ticky situation since I put hours into raising these tigers and it makes absolutely NO SENSE.

thats a problem people have had since like 14 months ago... and has been reported hundreds of times....

they always do it wrong. They should always announce the changes only one or two days before a major wipe. this way folks would be kinda upset but would be eager to get back to it and clamor for the best spots. Announcing a wipe 30 days ahead of time only makes people leave and not come back.

i personally would have said nothing until i had the new version of the game rdy, the water was calm yet the came empty handed and stirred it
