I would love to have more of the ship frame to be snap-able too. For example I cannot seem to get my building on my Galleon to line up with the frame of the boat. Instead there is quite a bit of cracks just large enough to fall into but no way to get out.

I have this exact problem with the back of my Brig. My tames are always getting stuck in the cracks as well. I have the sides within inches now, but the back of the Brig always has a few feet that I cannot seem to fill.

  2. Back to the point, ships are just as susceptible to the accelerated decay timer in PvE as they are in PvP. I don't agree that ships should be protected from PvP in Freeports because people would attack someone then run to a Freeport. That's dumb.

We're not talking about protection. We're not talking about PvP. We're talking about delaying the accelerated decay timer on ships. Even if you got in as fast as possible, anchored near town, did your business as fast as possible, and then sailed out as fast as possible, you're looking at roughly 1,000 damage to your ship's hull planks by the time you're out of the Freeport zone.

Not everybody carries 1k of each resource to repair this kind of damage on ALL planks, much less have the resources to continue doing so when you leave the Freeport Region and get stuck in a rainstorm, fog, and ghost ships at the same time.

    • Player Shops
    • NPC Crewmates
    • Cosmetics
    • New Players
    • Meet/Hire Player Crewmates
    • Resources

All of the above are reasons why the Accelerated Ship Decay should be delayed in Freeport Regions. From the moment you enter a Freeport Region, your ship begins to take a percent amount of damage every 10 or so minutes. My Brig was at full HP on all planks before entering the Freeport Region. By the time I made it to the Freeport island and anchored, my Brig had taken 400 points of damage on ALL hull planks. If players are going to be going to Freeport regions more often to buy and sell items and Player Shops, buy cosmetics for their ships, hire crew members and meet new players... they should not be forced to leave the Freeport region ASAP. The accelerated ship decay should START roughly an hour or two after entering a Freeport Region.

    That being said...

I understand why there is Accelerated Ship Decay in Freeport Regions. This is to reduce lag and reduce clutter in these Freeport Regions. Players should not be clogging the place up with ships and campfires and bodies lying around everywhere, like we saw on Day 1. But if we are to be visiting Freeport towns more often because of the new content coming, like player shops... we should not be immediately penalized for entering these regions.

    Alternatively... @Argh!

    • Pay mooring fees to anchor in a Freeport... an hourly (gold) rate allows for (an amount of time) in the Freeport. If you need to stay overnight due to unforeseen circumstance you will not return to a scuttled ship as long as you either prepay the "Dock Purser" or have the funds in a resource box on your ship -- Also limit this to any ship above the Ramshackle Sloop...

3grs is far too long , when they add player shops 30-60 mins max then maybe 2 hour decay if u need to be there longer u have to leave the zone for an hour , otherwise the area would be clogged uo with too many payers and ships

there would need to bu huge changes to freeport system before they add player shops

Yet I think that would be the PERFECT reason to add a 2 or 3 hours delay before the decay timer starts... Player shops. The accelerated decay timer should absolutely not be the reason players make their item and gold decisions quickly and leave asap... The accelerated decay timer should ONLY be a reason to not log off and/or stay in the region for too long.

You have to realize that not everybody knows how to sail a ship as fast as possible. Not everybody has a very fast ship. When you get to a freeport you're not sure what you're going to buy or sell, and sailing TO the freeport takes time, depending on wind speed and direction...

The MOMENT you enter the freeport region, your ship starts to take damage. There needs to be a delay. Going to a freeport region is expensive.

They're going to be adding REASONS to be in a Freeport Region... yet there are instant consequences for going to a Freeport Region... it's redundant and ridiculous. Freeport Regions are going to be for buying and selling. Its where you buy Crew. Its where you buy Cosmetics. Its where people start. and Freeport Regions should also be the best place to meet other players and new players. Yet you have to get in and out asap because you might lose your ship if you don't...

  4. Agreed. I thought the same thing, Jack Shadow. I work 10 hours a day and come home and do a resource run. Prior to entering the freeport Region, I have maybe 15 points of damage done to my ship from sailing wear & tear. By the time I make it to the freeport island and anchor, 400 points of damage has been done to my ship over time. I do not sail my Brig in shallow waters. I did not hit anything. There are no ghost ships in freeport regions. So within 45 minutes, 400 damage had been done to my ship.

I think there should be a delay before the decay timer. A timer... for the timer to start, per say. Maybe 2 hours. 2 hours in the freeport zone BEFORE my ship starts taking accelerated damage.

    I would love that.

I would like the ability to control sails separately or together.  I don't always want all my sails open full or closed.  I'd like to raise my speed sails and just guide my ship around with my handling sail at times.

That's not a bad idea. Currently, there are fields on the 1 - 9 keys that control which side of the ship's cannons you're controlling. A system like that would be easy to do.

  6. If you fall into the water, looking at the back of your ship, near the top, press T. This will whistle for your ship to drop the Ship's built in emergency ladder.

If you're alone on the ship, falling overboard raises all sails closed. If you're not alone in the ship, it's your job to signal man overboard.

Pressing Y in the same place will raise and retract the ladder.

And I'm pretty sure there are skills to increase your swimming speed.

Holding a Dinghy in your inventory or spawning a ship for you just sounds a bit silly.
