  1. I think what he is referring to is that we are supposed to have a resource box to repair our structures on a island similar to a ships but if you live on lawless it will be similar to how it is now and you will have to log in and upkeep it every 4 days but I thought I read something about making it harder to settle on a lawless island.
  2. I am a casual gamer but I play each day after work and for long periods of time on the weekends, if I really wanted to be a asshat in the game with the new system it would be really easy, the above photo is of a small area that you may clean up in just a little while, just think if someone took off and every 20 or so spaces dropping a foundation or pillar all over the island. I know you've already stated that you'd just wait for the decay timer to kick in instead of wasting you time going around to clean the island up, at the same time a person could be waiting for the same decay timer to start the process over again. Before long all your doing is gathering mats to upkeep your claim flag because no one else can build on your island. I know there is going to be a structure radius to keep someone from building on top of you and once that radius is learned then the griefer will know how far they can space out their pillars or foundations to keep someone from building. The PTR is going to work in ways we wont want, not only is it going to show us what the new rules and such are, it's going to give griefers a chance to experiment with the same mechanics so when it goes live they will already know what to do. We all know it's going to happen, we've already talked about it and what will we do when it does, how will we counter it, we've asked questions as to how will we keep someone from blocking our ships in, or placing gates around our base, we've all said that it will be the landlords job to fix issues like that and that all sounds great and all in theory but how many of you all are really willing to give up your play time to police an entire island ? I've done some time trials running around on a tame with the current large and small islands in the game and figuring how long it will take to demolish pillar spam and foundations, unblock ships and remove gates... Well i'll either be running around with no sleep or quitting my job.. I only hope that this PTR opens up the developers eyes a little more for PVE and they consider and alternative plan, this is really going to make pve a aggravation if you have to deal with griefers. I know some people will be lucky enough to never be bothered but others will not be so lucky. Have any of you rolled the dice lately to see how the RNG Gods favor you ???
  3. Like the others have stated, according to what patch notes and Captains Log we were able to decipher information from, larger companies ( more members) will have more points, each island will have a point cost but they are trying to make so a solo player can still be the owner of a small island and larger companies can own a large island or a few islands but there will be a hard cap. As stated you will need a tax bank to claim the island, only one claim per island and anyone can build there but the landowners will have a limited window to demolish any structures they choose to demolish. Any materials gathered from that island will be taxed and those mats will go to the upkeep of the claim flag, you will also have structures that you need to upkeep as well. Ships will require you to render them in order to keep them from decaying and there has been no word on being able to build at sea.
  4. If they would prepare new content, patches in advance before ever mentioning it then it would look like they were always on time but now it looks like they are always behind. One reason being is I don’t think they have a dedicated server for testing new ideas out before coming public with them, hence why they pulled the EU server down and stated they needed it to prepare. Now they are running into issues that wasn’t foreseen and it’s causing delays. Looks like they are going to try and have a dedicated PTR server in the future but as of right now they are just working with what they got.
  5. Actually Captain Jack, I was in it for the long my haul, I hadn’t even done one power stone or the Kraken at the time of the wipe. I was building up tames and materials for trade routes, working on a base that was setup with enough supplies to rebuild a ship quickly if I needed to and such things as that. I didn’t really start exploring much until the wipe was announced. I did do the FOY twice but the 2nd time was to help a friend who hadn’t done it yet. Otherwise I would have just waited for the wipe. I know some people had done all there was to do in the game and became bored with the game. I was no where near that point and I’m sure a few others were the same way.
  6. I’ll have to see if that is on Funinmation, I’ve enjoyed Fairy Tale more then most things, Black Clover was also good and I’ve watch Dragon Ball (Z,Super and GT) along with others that are not on Funinmation but other websites like vizmedia and such have carried them. I used to have Netflix but it seems so far behind, I did like Castlevania on Netflix and Devilman
  7. True, now we have moved to someone else’s thread and pointing out the same crap we’ve talked about a hundred times over because we have nothing else to do. Well I’m at work or else I’d be playing the game or watching anime, don’t laugh, some of the anime series are better than anything else that has came out in the last 20 years. Some of them I look forward to watching almost as much as I did Game of Thrones.
  8. I’m not saying my OP holds any merit, all I was saying is that is a possibility of what could take place. This is the prime example of why I believe it would be nice to have had some details already made known to the pve community so we could plan ahead and look for possible exploits that the developers may have overlooked. If a landowner has no rights to a structure that was previously built does that mean if a island was pillar spammed and the current owner has quit the game does that in return mean that once his timer expires and the new owner takes over there is nothing he can do about it ? I’m not sure but they said the tax bank would cover the claim flag and anyone who gatherers materials from the island will be taxed, ok so we also have a upkeep cost for our own structures as well right ? Would it be hard to upkeep pillars vs the upkeep on the claim flag, how hard will it be to force a new landlord off the island, if all you do is spam pillars each time you log in and that landowner has to spend his time running around looking for each pillar you’ve placed ? You mentioned the blocking in of ships, what is going to stop that regardless, if the window is any amount of time at all that means there is a chance that the landowner can’t demolish the pillars if he takes a day off right ? So your ship is stuck , are one of you going to be the landowner and spend all your time policing your island ? I’m not sure but it may be fun being the bad guy for a change and just annoying landowners for no other reason then because the game allows it.
  9. With the current system - if I claim an area, all structures in that area become mine - agreed ? Good ! Now with the new system - Jose builds his base foundation while I’m building my tax bank, once I claim the island would his foundations not belong to me ? Demolish structures - Jose spams the island that I have claimed with pillars, Jose says that no one will be able to build now, Jose has just made me a landlord without tenants, the waiting game begins. I already own the island and can build my base and such in the immediate area and can now demolish anything Jose goes to build within 12 hours, if all he does is pillars then I’ll let the pillars decay on their own. Jose won’t build a base though that much I can promise.
  10. That is also where griefing is gonna start, building gates or structures overtop of nodes so only you will have access to them. I’ve already seen it in areas.
  11. As you know some of us have already become friends on Steam and hopefully we can get together post patch and live on an island together. They stated they are adding a new communication system in the game for pve but they haven’t specified what it is yet. We will figure it out, we always have even if it’s just joining someone’s discord to leave messages for each other. I have no desire to talk in discord but I don’t mind checking in to see the latest news and such.
  12. They could implement piracy in pve, I’d love to go toe to toe my npc crew against SOTD crew and winning one of those ships to sail around the seas. They could always have npc villagers to plunder from, towns to raid in a quest line, they could implement all kinds of different ideas, look at Morrowind, Oblivion and titles like that where you could do whatever your hearts desire was.
  13. No one said build on important resources but there are resources of all kinds everywhere you build, at some point your are building over them, whether it be stone, salt, wood, fiber or whatever. If you build on land chances are your covering up something. It all depends on your biome as to how important that resource is, salt is hard to come by in certain areas but I’ve only seen it on the beach, coal, berries, greens, and even stone can be hard to come by in certain biomes. Don’t be an ass and think outside of the cubicle you live in. I’ve often suggested living on the beach only and the rest of the island be for resources but the issue is that some places don’t really have much in the way of a beach. Some areas are so full of people that they had no choice but to live further inland.
  14. The reason some of the people posting here disagrees with the new system is because they’ve already experienced parts of it in the game already. Do you remember when they patched the claim flags so people could set build permissions ? Did you ever live on or visit different lawless regions where pillars and foundations were everywhere and no one could build ? What the new system is implementing can’t work for the majority of the players, it will work for large or medium sized companies based on the fact they already exist together. For a solo player or small group of friends trying to own their own island will be next to impossible so we will be forced to live on someone else’s land and abide by the rules they have in place ( structures can only be so big, your only allowed so many shipyards or ships, you can’t build on resources or any number of things they could come up with ) If the developers wanted to make the game more rule based then they should have limited claims like people asked, that would have stopped all of the complaints and negative post you keep bringing up. What you see as a positive thing coming, others see as a nightmare. When I have asked for something positive that could come from this, you stated that a landowner could take me by the hand and teach me how to build or he may have tames that he would be willing to give me because I live on his land. This might all be well and good for helping your kids who don’t know how to play the game get started in it but for experienced players it’s kinda like a slap in the face. Don’t challenge the intelligence of solo players, they are able to play games like this for a reason and it’s not because they rely on someone else to help them. Most solo players I know like to think for themselves and often get offended when someone tries to push ideas or direction on them.
  15. I believe there are malicious people and I also believe there are good people, I also know that I don’t know what the bigger picture is for the game, I enjoyed having a claim and being able to do what I wanted with that claim and not having to deal with anyone building on top of me. With the new system that is coming into place there is to much variety in when someone plays, the chances of being on at the same time as a landowner I’m gonna say is slim for most people, as far as them being all willing to give you tames to use and suggest building ideas. I for one enjoy the aspect of building and recreating the original ideas. Just improving on things is a enjoyment for me
  16. I can’t agree with them being abandoned and left to starve, if I could claim ships if for no other reason then to move them out of my way I’d be happy, since people have left the game, it’s been fun going around and collecting some tames people have left behind. I was in the taming skill line and spent time like everyone else going from area to area looking for what I wanted, this is so much easier!!!
  17. Martyn, please explain the positives to the new system to me since it seems you suggest that I’m only pointing out the negative. What is different with the new claim system then living on lawless? I know the land owner will have a limited window to demolish your structures, that has been stated already, so do I have to ask permission to build whatever I want and as large as I want ? If a member of his company likes the nice flat area I’ve started building on, should I relinquish it to him in order for me to remain on the island ? If myself and my neighbor both wish to build in the same area, will the landowner decide who is permitted to build and under what basis is his decision based off of ? You state that there will be bullying and there will be good landowners as well, am I correct ? Let me ask you this and perhaps you’ll know the meaning behind it ... have you ever heard the expression “ What is normal for the spider 🕷 is chaos for the fly “ Your dreaming of either being the landowner and everyone bragging about how fair and just you are or your dreaming of living under someone else and they granting your every wish. I’m not sure where your seeing positives about the new system but I’m really curious to see what you have to say. Perhaps my foresight with the new system has clouded my sight and I’m not able to see the benefits of the new system. You are saying there will be land for everyone, there was always land to build on but most people wanted their own claim, what has changed?
  18. With what your saying , correct me of I’m wrong, in the beginning people were forced to endure overlapping claim flags, foundation spam, not finding anywhere to build on a claim of their own and all they had was lawless. Now we have a system that allows companies to push people not in the company off their island, those companies that allow people to build, the players will pretty much be living in lawless but with a person who can demolish your structures if they do choose to do so. You say you’ve read the complaints and see the topics throughout the forums and you only mention that there is no simple fix. What happened to all the post that suggested limited claim flags to 1 - 3 per account total to be used all across the map. Once your 3 claims was used you’d have to demolish one of them if you wished to place another claim down ? What happened to all the post that suggested removing overlapping claim flags ? There has been a ton of simple fixes that could have been implemented but they choose to go with a king and servant system. One person owns the land and everyone else who gathers resources off his island pays a tax that keeps the claim system in place. So in other words, if I was to own the island and once I got the tax bank in place I could pretty much quit the game for awhile because the people gathering resources will help keep my claim flag upkeep met. Does that sound about right ? I would rather live on my ship then under someone else. As far as I’m concerned, I’ll build my ship on lawless and once that’s done I’ll be done with the land issues. If my ship gets sunk I’ll just rebuild and I hope others will do the same so the landowners can farm their own materials day in and day out. Let’s see how long it last when all they can do is farm mats. I hope the requirements are so high that a company would have to have 4 people with tames dedicated to do nothing but farming mats.
  19. I see the new system kinda being like this, whom ever is able to claim the island will have some control of buildings and such, more then likely if it doesn’t directly affect where they want to build then everything else is going to be fair game. Think of lawless, they won’t be patrolling the island looking for anything, there will be certain resources in their vicinity that they will not want anyone building on top of but won’t give two thoughts about the rest of the island. Everyone else who builds on these islands will live like lawless, 1st come 1st serve. If you and a neighbor want space between you then you’ll have to do foundation spamming or pillars one. Now everyone who lives on someone else’s island or anyone who visits the island will be charged a tax, the taxes will go towards the claim flag upkeep. I’d say that is going to be the basis of the new claim system. A few people have will have a option to own most of the island that have nothing on it and will be tasked with keeping up the flag themself. They’ve already stated that the upkeep would be based on the island size and number of companies on them.
  20. They may not have the people at the moment but they are anticipating 40,000 players at some point and then if you take adding in a monthly competition for players on the empire server you’ll probably see more of a need for it. I would imagine once the system has been out for a little while you’ll see more players on the empire server than the colonies server. The one thing about ESO I enjoyed was you could go from pve to pvp and not have to roll another character, just change your skill points around. Which we also had mods in the game that made a lot of things simpler for some of us.
  21. What biomes / regions are you going to post wipe ? What did you like or dislike about the area ? I started out with a place in H5 and at 1st I loved it, plenty of tames to choose from (wolves, lions, elephants, rhinos) plenty of resources ( fiber, thatch, wood, metal and honey and sugar) but for the love of Atlas the vultures drove me nuts. I was starving to death because soon as I would kill something there was a swarm of these over abundance pest all over it, whatever you do, do not hit one by mistake because it’s like they just stop, take a good long look at you and call a couple dozen friends up telling them they just found desert. Run for your life and take shelter immediately because shit just hit the fan ! After many many deaths I decided living in hell would be more comfortable so I loaded up my ship with the rags I had left over from being torn apart so many times and set sail in a north west direction, looking for a colder climate. Even though I ended up in the middle of Alpha heaven (F3), it was still better then the war I left behind. I mean in F3, you didn’t come out of your home and plan to take a stroll down along the beach, when you opened your door and stepped off the bottom step you hit the ground running, if it wasn’t the cobras, scorpions or crocs chasing you, it was the wolves or lions. As for myself I’ve never been to an area that deals with a lot of earthquakes but I can understand what people deal with now, the giraffes were so plentiful around my base the ground never stopped shaking and I often judged the threat going on in the area by that. If the ground was shaking it was relatively safe to go outside and do something, if it wasn’t then chances are a alpha was in the area and you’d better just sit inside and play solitaire for a little while. All in all, I still preferred it over H5, basic resources there but nothing in abundance, we did have salt and crystals there but that’s basically it. Now I’ll say this much, in F3 and H5, I never had to deal with cyclones or whales. I also had plenty of outfits to because one min it was time to take a dip in the ocean and the next it was time to place your winter clothes back on. How about the rest of you.
  22. Doesn’t ESO have a system like you just described ? Which they have multiple pvp servers to choose from but isn’t it faction based ?
  23. I could never understand why the announcement of the wipe or the delay of patches or the wipe would cause someone to quit playing or take a break until after the wipe, several of us from different companies have continued to play just like we were before the announcement or delays happened. Those that say they will be back after the wipe and those that stopped playing in the beginning because they couldn’t find any land just baffles me. To my understanding there is going to be more wipes and the land system unless your a island owner will be the same as lawless. So what has changed ? Those who have stopped playing because of the wipe announcement, I’m curious to know if you’ll stop again at the next announcement? Those who stopped playing because you couldn’t own your own claim and didn’t want to live on lawless, well if your not able to own your own island this go around will you stop again ? I’m just trying to understand your way of thinking, I’m not pointing fingers or bashing anyone or making any suggestions as to whether you should come back or not. I would just like to know your thinking on all of this. I really hope you do come back and continue to play with the rest of us.
  24. Since when is a opinion considered a lie unless it’s not how you really feel and your simply stating what someone else says ? That’s why I like the community here, we all can be honest with one another and give our honest opinions on the subjects that are troubling people. It’s when people start assuming they know someone and then begin implying they should leave the game or play something else, it’s those people I find toxic.
  25. Most of the people in these forums have been here almost since the beginning of the game, we’ve built a little community with everyone who post here and I’ve really enjoyed the opinions of most everyone, you can tell who the good people are and who is here to troll. Thank you for your time and effort.
