  1. It's basically the same at it's core. A territory control full loot PvP mmo with ships where large alliances rule the world.
  2. Because... people on reddit and forums and everywhere are complaining about being offline raided and loosing their ships every single night? Ah yes, they are complaining less now. Because many of them left the game at this point. It's not a crazy notion but a fact of life. Every single MMO that had no restrictions on PvP (even then there wasn't any that was as bad as Atlas when it comes to griefing and offline raiding) has died really fast.
  3. Dunno, the silent majority are ok with them. And dude, no one really cares about what YOU want or don't want. Atlas will die if it stays in it's current state, it doesn't take a genius to see that. Even the most hardcore fanboys will get tired after having to start from scratch for the 100th time. Hell many of them didn't have to yet, so probably they'll ragequit after the first one.
  4. That's why i say adapt. It's absolutely possible to do that without changing the whole game. And since when Eve is a carebear game?
  5. What's wrong with land claims? A lot of people are fine with them as they are and don't want them to change. How dare you to ask for changes?
  6. It's EA, the changes are to be expected and are required for official to survive.
  7. Vulnerability windows set by owners, a single world for NA and EU, limited safe storage at freeports, it's all been successfully solved before by developers of the most successfull territory control sandbox MMO. There's no need to even invent anything, just adapt what's already invented and proven to be effective to Atlas.
  8. And i say again private servers aren't a viable option for a MMO. And the fact that there are pservers that are populated only proves that the current design of official is flawed.
  9. Alot of the people i have played with in game say they do. So what?
  10. It won't be a bigger issue than having nowhere to keep your ship safe as a solo player. It probably won't be an issue at all - can't tell until it's tested.
  11. It has more than enough content for a sandbox MMO. You can build, you can kill, and you can sail. But people who loose everything they've been working for tend to quit, especially if they loose everything while sleeping. Most of us aren't into playing a Sisyphus torture simulator.
  12. Yes. And it's not a problem, like at all. I don't think anyone had quit the game because "hey these guys are storing their ships there wtf trash game i quit".
  13. Yes it's a sandbox game. No you can't build anywhere but there are places where you can't build in atlas too. No you can't destroy anyone completely, just inflict serious losses to the point where they stop being a threat forever. But total destruction is a bad idea for a successful MMO anyways. Atlas won't survive a year if it doesn't abandon it. From the looks of it it won't survive half a year.
  14. Never happened to me, but if it's buggy it will keep being buggy even if the decay rate is decreased. Mid sized/large companies that always have someone online can use this mechanics right now. It takes one guy just a few minutes to repair several ships if the mats are in the resource box. Yet, only a few companies ever use it. There will be no apocalypse if the decay rate is decreased.
  15. And what is it so special about atlas? I'd say eve is very similar to atlas, just more balanced.
  16. It lasts as long as you want it to last if you're willing to farm mats from time to time. And it's at least 8 hours before your ship starts leaking. You can do this right now and it's not a problem.
  17. You don't play many games do you? Almost all other MMOs either have ORP, or siege mechanics, or vulnerability windows, or safe bank boxes, or karma systems, or safezones, and most of them have several of these mechanics at once. How many MMOs that lived for more than a few months can you name that have none of this, except for Atlas?
  18. You can do this already with current costs, but somehow it's not a real problem. And then your goods are safe from raiding, because they are listed for sale at freport. Name a price that noone's willing to pay and you get an improvised safe storage. And yes when you take them out of a freeport they can be taken away from you, but that is true for OP's suggestion too.
  19. Somehow other games don't have the "easily exploited" problem. But as i said i don't care, if instead of ORP we'll be able to kill the bad guys permanently i'm all for it.
  20. It comes with a cost (not just the repair cost, convenience cost too) so it's ok. You can't do much at a freeport anyway. Also we're getting player shops soon, so i'm 99% certain that there will be some sort of safe storage added too.
  21. We're talking about pemanent loss of skills and stats, not a debuff. And that was in a game where being killed by another player merely meant loosing some dirt cheap items and you have plenty stored in your house or bank box.
  22. Because your ships take damage every few minutes while you're at a freeport area.
  23. Because in a game where you can wipe anyone COMPLETELY while they can't even fight back because they aren't in the game at the moment the "dire consequences" should be even greater than they were in UO. In UO bad boys were loosing skill points. In atlas it should be more like skill/stat loss on death and permadeath if caught and executed. I think ORP is a better solution for a pvp game, but hey i'm ok with such penalties - a pirate's life was short irl after all.
