  1. No announcement on the forums? Or did i missed it?

    ATLAS #atlas-news

@ATLAS News We unfortunately have to postpone the upcoming patch's release to next week whilst we prepare the finishing touches and get it ready for release. We'll update you with a specific day and the patch notes as soon as possible.

After Genesis has been postponed to February, the next delay follows.
Why do I have the bad feeling that they're just kidding us all?

  2. As in Ark, breeding is not really difficult, but it is extremely time-consuming.

This leads me directly to the question of whether there is a table somewhere from which you can see the baby's feed consumption? Especially with carnivores I have bad experiences with leaving the babies alone before 10%. But I just don't have the time to take 5 hours a day.

Unfortunately, you really didn't learn anything from Ark at Atlas. A look at the many unofficial servers would have been enough. Almost no server uses the standard settings for breeding. When I think about the fact that you talked about half a year ago that you want to get the players from the land to the sea ... That won't work in any case.

I think the developers first need to be clear about what the player should actually do in this game. We are currently wasting about fifty percent of the time waiting for something.

    • Haha 1

  3. I've been playing the single player for the last time. Crashes are still harmless. Since buildings and ships disappear with total inventory, the ships are not synchronized correctly when changing the map and the respawn does not work anymore.

Against the single player, the official servers are a haven of stability. And because that worked so well, the dumb console players were now cheated on such a dysfunctional product as well.

Your list, on the other hand, is all stuff you can live with. Seen from this side, I would almost be happy in your place 🙂

  4. I guess the developers are working on the late Ark DLC. They have announced larger patches, but nothing has changed here for several weeks.

I'm curious if anything is going to happen before Christmas. I'm currently playing single (no longer keen on wipes and decays) and have to say that the bug has no end. So before QoL updates appear, they should first take care of the sometimes serious bugs.

I like that the map is huge, and so people don't just quickly travel from their grid, to mine.

There is no need to do so... But there is a need to travel many grids to get rare ressources or dig treasures. THIS is the real problem.

And pirating?  I see that a lot.  But it could be better with NPC sailing ships to attack, and sink.   Making the flotsam more interesting would take some of the boredom away at sea.  As it is, most people just sail past it because it isn't worth it.

The key isn't fast travel...it's making the sea travel more fun...more things to do while at sea.

No one in their right mind will stop today and if the value is not greatly improved, then nobody will. The truth is that it keeps the player from the actual goal of collecting resources or digging for treasure. Only very few players see their goal in aimlessly sailing from A to B. The majority pursue their own goals and are much more annoyed when you stop them.

  6. Abbreviations (e.g., whirls) or expressways (e.g., ocean currents) would be genuinely appropriate. The home base is too important, that you do not have to go back and I understand every player who wants to go there at the end of the day.

The basic problem is that you always have to go back. Gather raw materials, raise gold, tame animals or hunt ghosts. After all, you drive home at some point and deliver the loot. The ship is and remains a means of transport (and a weapon) and is not a substitute for a base. Weight, space and the risk of complete loss prevent you from being able to do completely without a basis.

With this starting point players must be annoyed sometime, if hours of real time for so little use / contents are lost. It also does not get better if you put more obstacles in the way of the player. Instead of long trips, it would be more interesting for many players, if you make more smaller tours and reduces the time ashore. How many treasures have we raised just because we have to pay our ships (yes, unfortunately one is not enough - roles and skills) or the claim? Too many I would think. There is no progress for the player and therefore he is just annoyed by the long tours.

  7. I do not really understand the whole debate here ...

Personally, I would like Atlas to have been just a DLC, because then the game would not have failed so grandly.

Focus on smaller servers and groups instead of a stupid MMO setting.
Rich fauna with elaborated role concept.
    No shitty fighting system.
    No invincible opponents.
    Better taming system.
    Varied and interesting maps.
    Etc...

Atlas has its strengths, but those are so few that you could have achieved significantly better results with a large DLC.

The best skills points you'll ever spend will be maxing the "Vitamin" tree!

Just do that and for added funsies, max the "Overeating Tolerance" tree...

And you'll not have any issues keeping your cores balanced.

Depends on the biome. If you have to eat constantly because of cold, the vitamin skill is not recommended. Otherwise you get an overdose. Sooner or later you should learn how to cook, because that really helps you to solve the problem.

This bug has been in the game for months, I'm surprised it hasn't been fixed.

Have you heard or seen anything great from the developers lately? I have the impression that they have given up the game, after they have ripped off with the Xbox players.

I have my doubts that the game is still something. The development is somehow quiet and I see nothing on the horizon, what could make it better. Ark also had his problems, but there was a roadmap and the game progressed in small steps forward. For at least half a year Atlas has not seen any appreciable development.

  10. I'm afraid they still believe in their messed up melee system. I'm always amazed how one can make an Ark so much worse. The melee system there is not nearly as gruesome as in Atlas.

But I think you do not listen to their players anyway and many have already scared off them with their choices. Too bad that the developers do not realize that some of the developments in this game clearly go in the wrong direction.

  11. Is the game dead? I've stopped playing since the last wipe. Since then, I keep looking back to the forum and see what changes. Apart from a completely useless update for X-Box players (sorry people, but first the game should be developed), there is not much going on.

I switched one of my Ark servers to Blackwood last weekend. What can I say? I was horrified! The map is buggy (beds, claims) and seems unloving in many places. But there are a lot of useless buildings, too big islands and a horrible lighting. Pity! I've really missed the shipbuilding and some things on Ark lately, but after the experience I just have to say that my playing experience in Ark is far better then what I've been offered with Blackwood.

I have the impression that the developers have maneuvered themselves into a dead end. The PvP-heavy MMO concept was an absolute failure and the game offers little content beyond PvP and Grind. Also, developers do not seem to have done much lately, or have become very quiet.

    Atlas, quo vadis?

Was soll ich sagen?

    Atlas, quo vadis?

  12. Actually, I almost have to thank the developers. The senseless grind is over and I have nothing to maintain or feed. I guess I can not come back to the official server, because an MMO that does not leave you any breaks and where you can lose everything is just a very stupid idea. This game as an MMO has already failed successfully.

Maybe I'll check in on my own server with some friends, if mods and better server settings can provide a better gaming experience. Until then, there are many other games that entertain me more than the Atlas farm simulator.

  13. It shows more and more how badly thought out the whole game is. It should be an MMO with levels, item quality and grind. However, a permanent possibility to store exactly these things was not planned.

Depending on whether you can switch off this Decay on some servers, you could at least play the game in a small circle with friends. If not, the game will sooner or later be dead. As an MMO on the official servers, that's it. Nobody will expose themselves to a permanently active wipe for the second time. The players would rather just play another game.

  14. My Galleone, which I entered less than 14 days ago, has just been removed. I am really delighted! It is completely incomprehensible to me why PVE players only received 14 days. But obviously you do not even manage to implement it properly.

A pseudo MMO, where after a week already half the stuff disappears. How stupid is that? After a few weeks break, all the progress is gone and you can almost start as a new player? How stupid are the developers here? My life is not just Atlas.

  15. This is not about single players and I'm not one either. But thanks to the bad product quality of the developers, many players are already gone and the rest is playing without any major ambitions. They do not enjoy jumping through the beds once a week. Some will screw that up too! Should I renounce my holiday now or keep BOOMERVONCANNON as a slave?

This has nothing to do with compromise, but that is simply a disadvantage of smaller groups. It starts with the fact that groups with islands buy the decay timer with gold. The developers wanted to better support the smaller groups, but this has remained an empty promise so far. In fact, it has even worsened and the Mega Tribes is still pushed everything in the ass.

Apart from that, please spare me with your traditional picture of an MMO! Multiplayer does not automatically mean organization and group content, even if many can not imagine otherwise! Players can also interact with each other without being forced by obsolete game systems. So maybe even more players would be in the game than they are left today.

btw: I do not care if NA players only have a week off! And if the Asians, Africans or South Americans have 6 weeks, then the timer has to take this into account in the interests of its players! The world is not about North America.

    Day 2304, 12:03:50: Reflecting X - Lvl 59 (Windex Ninjas - Boss) claimed your auto-decayed tame 'Elephant - Lvl 27 (Elephant)'!

It's really annoying ... 8 days for Tames, 10 for buildings and of course there is always an asshole, which is immediately on the spot and destroys or steals everything.

How should one do any outposts like this? Before the wipe you could go on vacation for another 2 weeks, today I have to look for someone and hand over a plan, which he has to work down meticulously, because otherwise something decayed.

I know that with your stupid Colony system you are unable to control the Foundation and Pillar Spammer. But such short decay timers do not solve the problem and put the normal players in front of new problems. Your problem is the messy Colony system and missing server moderators.

    Fix it!

We've made a change in our most recent update which should address this. Whilst it isn't a new structure, it does provide some necessary QOL in regards to this problem.

    v207.999

    - Crew gold payment and food can now be done via your Company's claim flag. Crew that are on an island or on a fully anchored ship within Settlement range are eligible. Berries are the only food that can be used in the claim flag (there is a greatly extended spoil timer on berries in a claim flag for further QoL). Crew will still seek out payment and food from nearby food larders and payment boxes and if there are none nearby or they are empty, they will take from the claim flag.

Thoughts? Let us know if you spot any issues with it.

Which claim flag? My company does not have one because such a megacompany has occupied the entire island on which I play from the beginning.

Since not every player / company owns and owns an island, I ask you how far you have considered this idea. It becomes obvious again how bad the colony system really is.

  18. There is a much bigger stupidity here! EVERY ship produces its own tornadoes. We had a big fleet in H8 and the Kraken had cooldown when the storm started. The fleet was massively damaged by the incredible number of tornadoes and tried to disperse when the Kraken CD expired. 30% were then in front of the wall and the rest was allowed to fight with heavily damaged ships.

Atlas like Ark, the developers stick to their crappy weather system as if it was their life. Tornadoes, fog, cold front, heat wave, sandstorms, etc ... These effects are just bothersome and annoying, but even at Ark, the players talked fuzzy. If the developers would play their own game, they would have long since realized how annoying some effects will be after some time ...

Unfurl new sails against the sky with new Sail Cosmetics. The new cosmetics for small and medium sails lend the appearance of a delicate Junk or Sampan rig with bamboo slats which harkens back to a Far Eastern inspired sail design preceding Western square sails.

Just ask yourself how many players use small and medium sails. The smaller sails are getting worse, so these are almost not used. Anything bigger than a sloop will not be able to use these sails or it will not make sense. Please think about it and bring out the skins in all sizes!

  20. @Jatheish Where we are on the subject ... Could you please adjust the range of the Food Larder as well as the ammo box so that you get along with one on the Galleone. It is annoying to have to balance the heavy ammunition by hand, just because a box is always preferred and then there is a part of the ship without ammunition there.

Edit: Or if the range is technically a problem connecting the objects together so Box A also has access to Box B.

If your time is too valuable to waste on trying to obtain rare things in games, I would respectfully suggest that not only is Atlas perhaps not the game for you, but the MMO genre is one you should avoid.

There is no need to artificially make game content rare. It's time to get rid of the obsolete ideas of an MMO, which primarily sells time to players. There is no need to stop the player artificially, just for the player to be online. Good games keep players with interesting content playing, but not silly timeskins. It does not need another copy of a totally worn World of Warcraft. It's time to finally do things differently and give the players a sandbox where they can play and build together instead of having to fight or outdo each other.
