Hello Everyone,
I think the goal of this was to test to see if the API is a functional solution. They have been getting burnt a lot from implementing things massively and then finding a detrimental flaw that results in 4 hours of pissed off people. The 5.3 patched servers are having issues. Many of the servers keep having to be rolled back every 30 minutes, and players keep losing their progress. The massive ocean drop spawns are also an issue and the oceans are literally starting to get filled with islands made of corpses. Not sure how much of a priority the ocean spawns are right now. As even with the API update of 5.3, many freeport servers are still unavailable. The launch has been a disaster, but I still feel that if they can get things sorted out within a week they are doing a good job. This game combines the foundation of ARK with many of the features and concepts found in other games that players have long desired. The Hive system of servers is, for the most part, unique and is bound to have some major issues. I feel it would have been better for them to have started this with a limited BETA test instead, but now its time to deal with what they have and what they got. I have a good suspicion the Atlas team is burning the midnight oil and on overdrive right now as they all scramble to try and get a stable network. I hope everyone takes into account that tomorrow is Christmas Eve and that even DEVs of a game need time off to spend with their families and friends. The game has a lot of layers, features, and functions that will make it amazing. However, for now... we need to give the DEVs time and grace.
