    you don't play this game yourselves, nor do you play ARK... nothing is working out for you and your concepts for Atlas sucks more and more...
    and while working on the code you find the ARK assets for the platform saddle and "hey! I got an idea! How about we get more ARK players over here by making Atlas even more ARKy...?"

    Or where you looking at the failed LastOasis and their tiny player base with there non-existing 'ship' combat and said "hold my beer..." and implemented walking Man-o-Wars / one man BattleMechs...?

     

    Yeah like I was saying before. I don’t think the low player count was just because of the wipe. I imagine this season bringing in even more all time lows. And for you pvp people, man Chinese are going to have a big head start.

    Very early Saturday pacific would have been a lot better because it would still be Saturday for the whole world pretty much.

    well I mean the Chinese will have a pretty good head start but to be honest I see this update as bring in all time low numbers again.

    the new map won’t actually be a new map but just a shuffled version of the others.

    and platform saddles? Yeah I get they actually have utility to them and usage but that is just lazy plain and simple. Couldn’t think of anything new so let’s just import some more ark content lol I bet they will look exactly the same as well or will you bother to even real in them? Lol

    guess the “tradewinds” thing is a form of fast travel so who knows that might be something, if it actually works.

    no surprise there is only two days left and still no extra info. Par for the course. 
     

    actually just sitting here thinking I see why you are making it the 28th. You want to try to affect the low player count that you have right now and if you get an influx of people on the 28th it would make that number disappear. Well let’s hope you can’t get it out on time so that 1k will remain there forever lol

    Information about the new map are very rare... hopefully you post more information here soon and not only on Discord. The new map is the big change for this patch and hopefully it has some reasons to join Atlas again.     I am exited to see how new trade wind is working and if you do change the current wind system? Because by just increasing the slowest wind speed and not having it always in direction West to East or East to West would be a big game changer already. Also the wind should change not in a 24h cycle... because it's annoying when it blows every evening in the wrong direction and always with lowest speed when you start playing. I am looking for some reason to use the wind to get my ships out again. Will the trade wind channels move or change direction or are they at fix locations in the map... i guess second option. Maybe the balance of the sails will be addressed sometimes and medium sails will get some use or weight sails will have more impact. For example if you have a cargo attached that reduces speed by 20% a weight sail could reduce this 20% to 10%. Also opening and turning speed of Weight Sails should be buffed. Currently they are worse than all other sails and have no reason to be used besides totaly overloaded harbor run ships.

    Ok the direction of the new ships system is to change ships to fight only broadside which is more realistic of course... but as long old ships exist they are always supperior due to custimization and rear facing cannons in an amount the Player decides himself. Leveling with fighting SotD is very important. Ships build gets changed after getting max level and only then the ship does not need rear facing cannons anymore. Hopefully the bugs i addressed about the Majestic Kraken(current pre build ships) in general discussion topic will be improved. While it is nice to get attachments for the ramming gally you don't expect somebody to use this ship for transports? But it's good to have this railings at least prepared for larger pre build ships in the future. Balistas with fire bolts with the fast speed buff of the ramming gally could actually be some improvement for a sail destroyer design on PvP. But it looks like the amount of cannons on the ramming gally will be reduced. To place only two balisatas or one large cannons or two small cannons on the broad side deck is the very high level of customization... but maybe you have 3 segments on each side with cannon collision to the sails...

    Well the saddles look really funny and will be used on PvP a lot.*Irony off* Until they see the first time a horse with a cargo saddle and a swivel gun shooting fire amunition. A Crap will die in about 5 seconds... while it is encumbered and can't jump? But maybe it can jump with 5-6 cannons and amunition. At least crabs have ~1500 weight and can jump up to ~50% of weight reached. So yes this saddle will change PvP fights by 0%... because the horses are still to fast... and fire vs. tames like Elephant, Bear,... is insane strong(OP). On PVE everybody uses baers but on PvP it's all about horses. And from my expirience some good lvl 40-50 breaded horeses a pretty much unkillable if played correctly and not getting outnumbered by grapple hooks and naked black jack figthers. Well maybe that changed with the barrel changes and now the barrels are more used with catapult on horses.

    What about the puckle placement and shooting bug on this plattform saddle... i guess placed on an elephant the puckles can kill flying birds in the sky... but common is they can't shot down more than about 5-10°. So shooting enemy next to the elephant should not be possible... the bullets get collision with the saddle. And you can't place the front foot of the puckly over the dege of the plattform by adding a celing and removing it after placing puckle.

    An Elephant with placed large storage box that reduces weight by 66% like cargo saddle would be interesting for wood harvesting... but well you don't need this as you have farms.

    Yeah still no info yet which is pretty typical of grapeshot and pathetic. The start time will make it to where the Chinese have a definite advantage in pvp. I see all time low numbers coming with this update. I mean 1000 is already horrible but it will get worse after the initial increase

    I saw one of your tags said wipe or not. There isn’t any question to that. They already said the wipe is happening in their last announcements. There was never going to be a possibility of not having a wipe. Anytime the claims change a wipe is always required. Well at least one question got answered for you.

    PVPers get wiped all the time on a personal level, rebuilding is part of the game... a general wipe gives us the option to do it better next time... you know 'competition', not just playing with yourself with spectators...

    and again, you are here talking about giving PVE more content, because you want more to do without playing the full game... why are you complaining when you say that it is PVP that is dead...?!?!

    Well my point is the game is dead and it is a failure which all of that is true.

    I didn’t say I want pvp and pve to merge. What I said is that if it does then those are the only two ways to do it. I see pvp as boring as well. Waiting till someone is offline just really makes it no fun and also boring. Either way the game failed on many levels.

    Come on man, pvp is empty as well. Pve people left because they got rid of the frost pve cluster to begin with. Pvp servers are just as dead. And nah, I have seen plenty of pvp people complaining. Deny it all you want but I have seen plenty of it.

    Totally agree, even the @Pant guy brought up a lot of stuff(thanks for that) that neither pvp nor pve wanted. Pvp and pve people spend so much time arguing with each other that we really forget who the real enemy is.... the devs.

    I mean they have shown a complete  disregard for all of us that it isn’t funny, it really isn’t. This game will not go anywhere and it is unfortunate, but at some point another company will make an awesome game like this. This wasn’t the first pirate game and it sure won’t be the last lol. Let’s just let these guys fade away into the sunset and be patient for the next game.

    Theres no way you can implement factions without turning Atlas into an arena game. For an Arena game to be good you need to have solid game mechanics and depth. Arena games like Overwatch or CS:Go you can spend 1000s of hours theory crafting, practicing mechanical skills, learning strategies and tactics.

    Atlas land pvp have one viable melee weapon, one viable loadout, one viable attribute setup, one viable skill setup (all the skills)... Theres no theory crafting, and with the current state of firearms a competent player can reach the skill ceiling in 10 minutes. So basically 10 minutes into playing an arena version of Atlas, you would have exhausted all the content it has to offer.

    The only thing that makes Atlas pvp fun is the sandbox experience. If there wasn't an external threat I would not see any point what so ever in farming materials, building defences, breeding pvp tames or stocking up on food and equipment. Theory crafting defensive structures and how to overcome them is actually one of the few things that have some depth in this game. Atlas without a sandbox is basically a CS:GO Kniferound hosted by the Mars Curiosity Rover. 

    Yeah because they shit the bed from the beginning. It is very easy to make it to where factions have safe and no safe zones but still allow for pvp. One east fix is flagging for pvp does not allow you to go into pve zones for a certain amount of time. 
     

    keep coming up with why it wouldn’t work and I’ll not only let you know why it would work but I’ll also keep pointing out the 1100 people that play it. Actually since you said pve is dead let’s just start calling it 700? Is that a fair estimate? If not let me know and I’ll start using the number you throw out to me. Deal?

    yeah nobody wanted most of that stuff but as far as Xbox port? Yes pvp definitely wanted that. Numbers were already low and they most definitely wanted it.     just goes further with our first disagreement on how much of a failure this game is. They added tons of stuff nobody wanted, never communicated in any kind of professional manner. Kept wiping the game even when it wasn’t actually needed. Basically lied from the beginning, and broke something every single update they have ever made. Let alone missing update marks(don’t bother say other companies do too lmao). This game doesn’t even deserve the 314 spot you talked about 😂

    you literally just gave multiple reason why. I am glad we agree on the dumpster fire at least. 👍

Player could live in their factions PVE grid cluster or held PVP grids. Everyone can have just what they want. Each factions portal could be guarded but super npc cannons. Once you make it to and through you are safe. Once to go out and through you are under pvp server rules.

    And we could all enjoy the kiddles sailing to the pve grids clusters screaming foul comments about the rest of us getting on our boats and sailing to the pvp grids.

    Maybe once in a while we might.

    this not only makes sense but I would easily get on board with this. And yeah man, I have played plenty of COD, fortnite(don’t tell anyone), wow, and counter strike. I love pvp as well but there are some losers out there that love the fact they can raid you with you being offline. That never has been and never will be pvp and only makes you a coward to say the very least.

    thank you for your input. I would love the devs to see your idea but they not only stay away from the forums but they have some jaded delusion that they have the good ideas even though they only have 1100 people playing the game lol. Either way, good idea man. Thumbs up and salute to you.

    Pretty much everything. Pve players haven’t asked for anything they have given us. Don’t even try to act like they cater to pve players lmao. Every change or content that has been added has been for pvp people.

    And shortly after the wipe it will go to 500. It’s been a constant drop which you are right, it does say a lot about the game. The rise won’t be as high and the drop will be a lot bigger. Let’s wait two months and see how low it is then.

    but yeah I completely get what you are saying. Pvp players are very entitled. They think they should get what they want when they want it. The instant gratification group so to speak. Why work for it when you can steal it. There are some pretty similar real world implications to that.

    all I have to say is we did it there way and now we are at 1100 people and numbers will still definitely go down, so maybe it’s time to not listen to them and go in a different direction. Seems pretty logical to me. Who knows maybe logic goes over their and the devs heads. Really don’t know.

    Who needs those farming PVEer anyway anymore...? It is not like the is a problem getting "unlimited" resources already and with farms by basically doing nothing...

    Even if that concept with resource exchange with PVEer would be a goal to achieve, you first have to figure out what the PVPer gives the PVEer in exchange that the PVEer needs...

    And guess what, the only thing a PVPer can give to a PVEer is PVP-related services i.e. protection... but oh no, you want the PVEer protected by default... so no need for the PVEer to buy protection with his resources...

    so... yeah... PVPer don't need PVEer anyway for anything... because the PVPer has to play the same PVE game anyway...

    your problem is, that you exhausted the PVE content of a game that was never by a PVE game... and now you are looking for more content and ask for PVP-adjacent content... getting in the PVP action without the PVP risks...

    you need that PVP resources sink that PVE does not have, and how much more resources can you farm when you already have too much and cannot lose it in order to need more...?!?!

    PVE is dying because there is nothing more for you to do...

    and by the way, stealing anything in PVP with active player defense is not happening (see "Popcorning")... no one is stealing anything... it is all about having something to do after PVE and not getting richer, but the other guy getting poorer...

    Lol that isn’t the case at all. Pve people definitely do not want to be on pvp and definitely would not go over there without these changes being made. Don’t worry man, I would never go over there if it was up to me, but I just hear a lot of whining on the pvp side that they want us forced to go over there. You know the real cry babies.

    guess you didn’t understand the part about making gold important and worth something? No pvp people wouldn’t be paying for resources with resources..... that would be trading. If you think gold is a resource that is on you because gold is a currency meant to buy resources. Unfortunately the devs have made it to where it is just a bunch of golden rocks weighing down a ship.

    hey I am fine with letting pvp servers be empty man. I have no problem with that at all. Count is already at 1100  and even with the minuscule increase after the wipe numbers will go down to below 1000 very fast. Pve people really don’t get bored, but if you are on the pvp side and can’t find people you will get bored really quick, because let’s be honest if you are just building a base and there is nobody to attack it you are really just playing pve yourself lmao.

    To be honest if I would do the game, I would make a single freeport island each grid, where a lot of NPCs, quest givers, banks, etc, and within all other island I would allow players to capture just a shoreline. And all middle depths parts of each island would make dangerous place! With aggressive wild animals and ancient forces guarding some ruins etc. And made all quests leads there.

    Unfortunately we WONT get THE GAME. I dream about sailing age romance, adventures, Pirates of Caribbean, sailing fleets facing eachother, etc. I dream about sailing age MMO. But... well. As devs said - Atlas is NOT MMORPG. It's Sandbox game : (

     

     

    Yeah I guess they are too dense to realize that simply adding factions would still be a sandbox. I think it comes down to them lacking the skill to pull it off rather then them not wanting to go in that direction. I truly believe lack of skill is the driving force in their decision making and it really shows.

    There is over 37,000 reviews. Little too late  to try to use the excuse of review bombing. If there were only a few hundred or even a couple thousand it would make an impact. With 37,000 that isn’t bombing, it’s the average opinion of a lot of people. Bombing only has an impact on a low review count.

    so you are going on something that the only thing is population as far as a games rating? Well even if we did that sorry to tell you but the population will keep going down anyways. Even when the wipe happens and some come back(always do) it will still only be a fraction of the people that were there before(always happens according to steam charts). So either way it’s going to continue to drop in rank over there as well.

    so really even being number 314 is bad enough, but the actual game ranking of 4.6 is very well deserved. It’s definitely a failure.

    Nah, it’s number 71 on the bottom 100 list. I already posted the link. Really doesn’t matter what you say at this point.

    edit: it is called the hall of shame. It also says the bottom 100 worst games of all time on steam lmao.


  21. This topic has been widely discussed with a variety of different ideas/opinions. Most of them I never agreed with because people would try to get excited about it or hype it up as being “wonderful” or some other ridiculous word. Either way the game is failing and has been.

    merging pve and pvp together could be good for the simple fact that gold could be worth something. Even mega companies has to waste personnel to grind out materials. Why not have the grinders(pve) players do that in the safety of their pve servers so that all pvp players can focus on pvp? Wow, what a concept. Pvp players can raid other pvp players to get “gold” so they can buy the good materials that the grinders(pve) make. Manufacturers(pve) and consumers(pvp). I know a lot of cry baby pvp people will whine and say they want to attack the pve people but suck it up, you don’t get to now and you won’t get to later lol.

    with this pve players wouldn’t have to worry about farming gold and pvp people wouldn’t have to waste time farming resources. They could just come up and with “gold” buy the 200% gally. You lose a ship in war? Go buy another one from the pve people. Pvp people don’t want to waste time taming or breeding? Also no problem, the pve people already did that and are willing to sell them. It’s beyond me how pvp people can be so arrogant lol.

     

    FACTIONS:

    this will definitely not solve the gold problem but will make for better pvp(sorry solo players) because it will eliminate the mega and solo players. You log in and make a character? You pick a faction regardless(doesn’t matter how many factions and that is not this discussion). You will pick a faction and that will always be your faction. The pvp battles would become very large scale and be a lot more entertaining than a fleet of gallys coming for a stone hut. Whatever faction comes out on top is the winner.

    I would apologize for being blunt but I am not sorry in any way, shape, of form. I have seen so many terrible ideas on this forum because people are trying to be “creative” or “fantasize”. This is the real world and we live in it. There is no creativity in this game. It’s a matter of players and success. Without either of these two this game will just stay a steaming pile and will continue to bleed players. That’s all there is to it. Try not to be creative in replies with creative ideas. Definitely not welcome. Rational replies with common sense would be helpful, because remember, pve people don’t want to play with pvp people so they will either leave or you give them incentive to do so.

    I was watching a pvp stream on Twitch the other day and found it interesting how he kept saying that nothing ever works. You get a dozen or so ships firing on a port and the server get overwhelmed. They want us to go to that? I had a game crash (on my gaming rig that never crashes) crossing a grid line last week. I was unable to connect for 2 days until the server reset. I logged in to find my gally still alive but other in general chat were saying they just lost ship in the reset. And this is after what, 2 years.

    Yeah man, I feel you. The “game” isn’t the problem. The dev company always has and always will be. The decisions they have made and all of the bad business practices as well as unethical behavior is just simply unacceptable.

    quick note though when you said “new claim system”. It’s really just a remake of the first claim system so in all reality it is just them coming full circle. 
     

    the only point I will disagree with you on is the “bringing back the old map” part. I don’t blame you for thinking that way but these guys aren’t making any money(their own faults). They simply cannot afford to have that many servers. They didn’t make the map smaller to be “innovative” or “create more interaction”. They literally can’t afford that many servers anymore. 

    once they cut off one full pve server(which led to a downfall in numbers) they saved 225 servers worth of money. Making the other 3 remaining clusters smaller I think they saved another 100-150(can’t remember the exact number) server costs.

    their decisions have led them to bleed money and resources and even if people think they are “loyal” customers, they really don’t care about that. I know some people want to feel special because they are loyal but I usually just pity those people. This is a business and money comes first. The unfortunate part is this isn’t a good company so money will not come in.

    don’t worry about what the OP says because they won’t just get rid of pve completely because if they did(they can’t be that stupid) the remaining 1100 people playing would easily drop to 500 or less.

    OP just wants more people to play with but that isn’t going to happen. He will slowly realize that the numbers will continue to go down regardless. Best example is the steam charts. People here try to hang on the words “numbers are low because a wipe is coming” which is so obvious I am embarrassed for them for even saying that. The main thing to look at is the drop in players before the wipe and then the increase after the wipe. Every time a wipe happens the increase gets smaller and also the drop off before the wipe gets bigger. 

    this is a two year old game that wasn’t all that successful even in the beginning. After two years of the same thing people just get either bored or tired of it. They didn’t listen when factions were requested. They didn’t listen when pvp and pve could combine(some safe servers) that way a real economy could start. These guys just did a horrible job. I sure hope they are ashamed of themselves, because any other feeling would be unjust at this point.

    literally the only saving grace would be safe servers or factions(and you have to be part of one of the factions). But hey, if they want to stay in the bottom 100 as one of the worst games we can let them.

    >> Example for neutral towns: Talk to a NPC pirate within the neutral pirate town (example: each NPC small talks about the Atlas universe with the player, which could give some contents to the storyline of the game, until you find the right NPC that enables you to unlock a power stone) OR kill 1 player on that island to unlock the power stone (just imagine how fun it'd be to hide within a pirate town to kill other players)

    >> Example for aggressive towns: Kill 10 NPC pirates within the aggressive pirate town, it triggers the surrender of their captain which unlocks a power stone, OR kill 1 player to unlock it

    6) As for the hydra, you can keep it with the mythical creatures (Medusa, cyclops...) on 1 island. Delete all the other irrelevant animals and creatures. Their purpose will be like now, to farm mythos for the submarine and mythical crafts (exemple : Hydra 2000 mythos, cyclop 5 mythos, Medusa 1 mythos...).

    7) Please replace the ships of the damned by actual pirate ships that can be attacked and boarded (like on the solo server). I get it, Pirates of the Carribbean was a good film. But in Atlas, unless you add some storyline to the ships of the damned, their existence makes no sense.

    😎 Please keep it coherent when you place animals and resources within the biomes (no snakes / scorpions / lions / tigers ... in temperate and cold biomes!). Plus if you change the way to move within the game like announced in the last patchnote, people can just sail to get the resources and tames they are missing in their biomes (teleportation from a biome to an other instead of 1 big map?)

    9) Why not make it mandatory to get some resources in the sea only? It'd increase the time we spend sailing instead of just playing on land. It'd also be increasing the difficulty to craft mythical items.

    10) Please add a timer to the claim towers.

    11) Instead of parting the PvE/PvP servers, make it possible to travel from one to the other. To prevent from massive farming in PvE before going to PvP, the navigation between the two servers would only be possible by sloop, and the blueprints from PvE would disappear when you cross to go to PvP. And to encourage the PvE players to play now and then in PvP, why not give a permanent EXP x2 in PvP, EXP x 1 in PvE?

    Getting rid of tames will not go well for you man. That would definitely make the game a lot worse. Breeding and selling tames is probably the biggest mechanic of the game so I would probably delete your first idea or even the devs will probably just stop reading after that.

    Nah, the game will be removed soon. Bottom 100 of all games on steam. The whole game isn’t good so sorry to tell you but the pve people won’t be going over to pvp just because they get rid of pve. They will just leave an already failed game and then the game will become number 1 on the bottom 100 list lmao. 
     

    so sure let’s do it. Get rid of pve. You can still go ahead and play by yourself lol
