i think i reached my limit :(

Recommended Posts

i do play solo on PVE.

i asked myself today why to i continue to endure this? currently i just farm ship parts for better times, so when its confirmed that you can go to sea again without loosing hard work to ghostships, i can finish a shooner and start playing... but then what? i can hunt treasure and recruit people, thats it (i am not talking about end-game content to finish your compass - for that you need other people!)

so i could join a company, but the skill system still fucks me.. because i do not want to make ships forever or buildings or taming or planting! i want to have a combat specialisation and 1-2 crafting ones, but even that reduces the value i can get out of the game... i want to try all out, spend some weeks - months doing something and then something else! but i can only have one char on the server! i honestly think the whole concept currently is very flawed and people will very quick get bored from doing the same one shit all over again while there are many other things they could do!

Completely agree.  This is why I quickly went to unofficial ARK serves, where you ended up being able to get all the engrams unlocked.  That made the game enjoyable for me.  One day, I build on my base.  Another day, I forage for resources.  Another day, I make some armor and weapons.  Another day, I build a greenhouse.  Another day, I make saddles for my tames.  Etc...  I was able to play the whole game.

Skill trees are for single player games, where the idea is replay-ability.  You can win no matter which way you go, but you just have to do it differently depending on the skills you pick.  Basically it was just making the choice of Mage, Thief, Warrior, or Monk, a bit more interesting.  The idea being that you beat the game as one of them, then play it again as another.  Or, maybe you just prefer one style.

In an online MMO, it is dumb.  It locks you into a job.  I don't want a job.  I want to play a game.  One day I might want to build a boat. Another day, I might want to tame animals.  Another day, I might want to build on the base.  Another day, I might want to make tools, weapons, or armor.  The game will not be interesting to me if I am locked into one or two skill trees.
