GiNGERPANDA 0 Posted January 5, 2021 I’d like to propose the idea of cargo specific ships (or in other words a boat that can only be used to transport cargo/resources) On PvP servers it is nearly impossible for smaller companies to sail out to gather needed resources that aren’t on their island. Other much larger companies seem to make it a sport of decimating small ships like sloops and schooners even if they have no defenses and it’s clear they don’t pose a threat. It’s extremely frustrating for smaller companies to grind out resources to make boats that are needed to transport resources just to have a larger company sail up and blow that boat to smithereens. A cargo boat that either can’t be sunk (or at least be extremely difficult to sink) that can’t have defenses added to it (so essentially no one can sink you and you can’t sink them kind of thing) would be a leg up to those smaller companies just trying to survive. I understand it’s part of the PvP aspect of the game, but it’s extremely difficult for smaller companies to get resources due to the unfair playing field. You can’t really have a fair PvP experience when you can’t get the resources needed to make high quality items.
Grendalsh 9 Posted January 13, 2021 Never take a cargo boat out solo in PVP. Escorts ships or you deserve to lose it.
GiNGERPANDA 0 Posted January 16, 2021 That’s a ridiculous notion. Not everyone has dozens of people in their company. People who are just starting out don’t have the luxury of having escort ships let alone the people to captain those ships! Even if they did, how are they supposed to get the resources and blueprints needed to make high tier items that can actually stand a chance against larger companies when the boat they need to use to get those resources can’t even make it from point A to point B without getting sunk?! It’s a catch 22 for smaller companies and it’s the reason the official PvP servers are dominated by like 5 companies. There is a very large unfair advantage which, if leveled a bit, would actually make the game more enjoyable for a lot more people.
Reeking cannonbait 31 Posted January 27, 2021 (edited) @GiNGERPANDAYou do remember this is a pirate game right? Stealing other peoples work is part of that. I find your suggestion way to easy to be exploited and would benefit the larger companies even more. By the sound of it you’re a solo player anyways so why exactly do you need the rare mats to begin with? Are you building blueprinted sloops? Sometimes I find solo players doing things that really doesn’t actually do anything for them and I feel like you’re spending time gathering rare mats you don’t actually need. As a solo pirate you’re not ever gonna have a lot and if you don’t enjoy that play style join a bigger company or start your own. I get that it’s tough to be solo I did it for a long time and enjoyed that play style but I literally lived in 2x2 room with a forge/tannery on the roof and I never stayed anywhere very long. It’s a play style thing and to me I think you would be better suited in a smaller medium sized company where you can utilize the bps and rare mats if that’s what you’re going for.
