I thought bears collected thatch...

I’ve read about bears being good fiber and thatch collectors so me and a friend tamed one but it only collects fiber. Is this a glitch or is my life a lie? If my life is a lie, what is a good thatch collector? (Preferably one that’s not from a power stone island)

Giraffe is best for thatch. The Bear will collect thatch but only from specific plants like cattails along the shore or red bushes on some islands.

in E5, bears perfectly pick up straw from fallen leaves

They do pick up thatch, its only the plant thatch though that you find around sides of islands. Used to be loads near a freeport near J8 pick it up in the thousands.

Before the big wipe yes. With them changing things and adding new islands i have no idea if still there hence "used to be"

Thatch gathered from the ground via leaves/fronds etc bears can get.

Thatch from trees.. only a giraffe can get.  Elephants, rhinos, bulls etc to a lesser degree.. even pigs can get thatch.
