What is the deal with some freeports being discoverable?

If I sail to a freeport, I get the discovery and if i then teleport to each island I get a discovery for each.

If I die and respawn at a freeport, I don't get the discovery, if I die again and respawn, I still don't get it.

Is this wai or bugged?

You can never get explores on your current home server.  If that server is a freeport then you wont get them.  Change homes to another and then you can sail and get them.

Spawning after death isn't the same as fast travelling.
Anyway, only in freeports does the fast travelling still give you discovery points. They might *fix* that as well. (Fast travelling to a bed on an undiscovered, normal island has not given discovery points for a few weeks now.) (PvE)
