Sloop with one medium weight sail is plenty soloable. Though im not opposed to your idea. I do think sloops need a flat buff to base speed and maneuverability.

Sloop still needs someone on sail and someone on helm for efficient operation.  It has no chance to avoid anything, ghosthip or real, if someone solo tries to run back and forth.

Skiffs been around forever, perfect solo vessels.

How do you prepare a sloop for combat? Doesnt have enough capacity to hold cannons doesnt have enough speed to outrun them. Seems to me like you didnt think this through... wait are you on the dev team?

People want to solo sail the sloop with no crew and base sails and wonder why they are getting sunk.

  3. Yes, i do agree there are still too many of them, but thats what EA is for is fine tuning....

That being said, most people going out and getting sunk by them are doing it to themselves....

    They either:

    1) go out solo on a sloop or higher - You need at least 1 person on wheel and 1 person per mast (NPC or crew).  If you dont have that you cant react fast enough to avoid them if thats your call

    2) go out without cannons and #1 - Cant fight, but you arent prepared to run, using normal sails vice speed sails that let you get away.

    3) dont understand how to run with the wind, determined to get to where they are going regardless of the threat.

Crews going out with enough people are escaping the ghost ships easily (though again, there are too many).  Crews going out with cannons are sinking the greens.

  4. People who go out prepared are sinking them for good loot

Plus with speed sails you can easily outrun them

In that video above he is dying of thirst (so no provisions) and he trying to duo sail a dual masted ship (needs 3 people) with no NPC's or other crew and no cannons

I.E totally unprepared and should not be out on that ship

  5. Lets face it, the Lawless grids were only created as overflow when the freeholds were packed.

Now that freeholds have room, can we restore lawless to normal world grids?

Not being able to claim or build beds on them is kinda removing a TON of land from the game...

Plus of course every newbie that chooses lawless by mistake over freehold and doesnt understand what they are getting into.

build a base where idiot? everywhere actually reachable by raft is claimed already, how are we suppose to level up if all the islands are covered in hundreds of hyper aggressive predators that see you from 300 feet away and just gun straight at you, how are we suppose to even FIND gold to buy npc crews to man out ships if we cant even GET anywhere? You sound like youre in a big guild and are just spouting the fucking obvious.

Im playing solo.  I am very careful, i look for aggressive critters always, i avoid them, i gather slowly and save my stuff in chests not on me.

You can build on lawless without claiming, put a raft off shore with a bed for respawning.

You can even take some of the unguarded claims if you want to.

But go on calling people idiot, it makes you feel superior.

  7. Remember is a MMO too, you are meant to take a while to get to certain stages.

In theory, building a ship with no defenses on it makes it a target, shrug, and thus you suffer.

The right way to do it would be to build a base, level up someone to 35 so you have cannons, put cannons on your dock and man them with AI NPC's to defend it 24/7, but noone is doing that yet because till yesterday it was an instant gratification game, not a MMO paced game.

  8. I know a lot of you hate the answer "It's Early Access (EA)" but it is the right answer.

Remember what early access is (pasted below) and the development timeline involved that was also posted BEFORE anyone bought the game.

So if you want to be a part of its development, take a breath, play the game, and provide FEEDBACK while considering the goals to make a MMO, not an instant gratification on the seas Battle Royale.

Also remember that there are private servers available with totally different options.  The official servers are there to meet the devs plans and goals.  They are giving players who do not like those goals the ability to completely mod the game into something they like.

    Why Early Access?

“ATLAS is one of the most ambitious online worlds of all time and while everything we have listed in the feature section will be there around Early Access launch, we are going to need the feedback, insight, and creativity of the game players to build on that foundation and balance the game optimally over a period of time.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“ATLAS will be an Early Access title for approximately 2 years.”

    Early Access Game

Get instant access and start playing; get involved with this game as it develops.

Note: This Early Access game is not complete and may or may not change further. If you are not excited to play this game in its current state, then you should wait to see if the game progresses further in development. Learn more

  9. Lawless areas were not originally intended to be starter areas, they were put in place to handle the full freehold starter areas.

So right now they still have all the original spawn chances, including ghost ships, and before today, alpha mobs.

It like the devs want to kill their own fucking game

Or its like buyers dont read the EA warning and understand what testing and development means, this game is still 2 years from launch

  10. Just now, Evir said:

I agree with that, but this is way too much, you commented like this is no big deal, this is a big deal people at max level, cant even reach specific skills...

You havent even stopped to consider, in your various post rants, that maybe they have some unreachable on purpose because they dont want them in game yet.

Its EA, play it as it is, or dont, provide feedback, but to stay its stupid when you dont know their reasoning is stupid.

  11. Skills are meant to be like this, so that you have to choose what you want to do to support your company.

If you want to solo, you have to choose what you want to specialize in to sell and trade with others.

It was never the intent of a MMO that you be at end game weapons by day 4 and just level 50.  There are 100 levels total.

Yeah, its shocking, but it was needed.

Now i do agree that the ghost ships are closing down the seas cause you cant even get a single cannon till 35, and even then they are end game ships but seem to be everywhere.
