yes and no. rafts and sloops still can be build without the need of gold coins. If you want anything better than that you have to farm gold either by digging, picking up flotsam or dive for gold. gold in flotsam is tedious and digging simply is a task for a lifetime. remains diving. a diving attachment on a sloop ws possible 9 month ago and i haven't checked on it yet. needless to say that getting around the ocean on a sloop is possible but not the best option. and maybe sunken rteasures got nerfed as well. at least that's what i'm expecting once i'll try the diving option.

Yah, there is always ramshackle, but free diving for gold to build your first ship at low level, that's a lot of fun.  I guess the swimming skill tree will become more popular now.  To build a diving attachment you'd have to be, I think, level >40 or so.  Digging, that would be fun, but at least you'd get worms to train a parrot I guess, lol.

  2. The primary issue is not the cheating, it's that the dev's don't know how the game was exploited.  So they can't trust anyone that benefited.  That's why they basically asked all of you HOW YOU DID IT to get you reinstated.  Because they don't know.

This is a pirate game, what the pirates want is gold coins and resources。ATLAS pays too much attention to the performance of blueprint items, causing players to focus on how to obtain mythical blueprints。The current game mechanics of ATLAS are destined to not retain new players,The highest online number of this game will only be when the season restarts And then keep falling、Can't make the number stable。Because the safety of the players on the lawless island cannot be guaranteed, many people often wake up after a sleep and find that they have lost everything。what ATLAS keeps losing is the players on the lawless islands.

    .....

    Good luck

(Great English by the way Edee)

I agree, and further think blueprints should be trashed completely, as should raising/breeding animals.  I think there should be a marginal buff to items created using a skill tree or raven (perhaps up to 110%).  That way everyone is pretty equal at sea.  Maybe a small buff for including mixed resources since if you get rid of fine+ BPs you don't need to collect resources.

Breeding animals is a stupid waste of time.  You should be able to quickly capture and domesticate a beast for general use.  They don't need to level up perhaps all should be locked at level 20.  This would force players to rely on their own skill tree to overcome obstacles.  Sure you could train a bunch of bears and ride on in to beat a high level map. But you wouldn't be able to breed ONE bear that could take on any map, you'd need more players.

If you build a mechanic like shield bash, there should be a skill tree or defense to negate the effect.

Barrel bombs should have never been projectiles.

The game should be about teamwork, load out and tactics.  Not based on min/maxing, time investment and resource collection.

IMAO - storm should not be global. It should be a single local spot on the grid slowly moving thru. Sometimes it's deadly tornado in the center. And the only goal for players and NPC will be to avoid the zone at all costs. Or if you accidently got in, to, then, escape out.

Huge waves should damage planks. If you stay wrong angle - waves can overturn your vessel. Strong wind - do some damage to full sails. Lightning should also damage masts. And tornado just destroy your ship, crew and you with debris.

That's how it should work. And... well there should be some rewards for storm avoidance, storm escape and really unique rewards for survive tornado : ))

I like the idea of a single maelstrom that wanders the affected map and does serious damage, and is avoidable.  The number of cyclones is ridiculous.

  5. Two questions-

    1.  Will there be a wipe corresponding with this update?

    2. Will the wipe include unofficial?

I ask because I quit PVP S4 and moved to unofficial.  A lot of islands were removed from the game necessitating a wipe on all unofficial servers which was unaccounted for.

With regard to barrel bombs, they severely broke the game.  I think they should be shut down and maybe gliders too.  Probably and unpopular opinion on gliders, but hell if you want to give us flight let us train Pteradons and build airships.

That being said the size of the map/vrs. number of players you want to attract is mainly what ended it for me.  By day 3 of Season 4, almost all of the islands were claimed by mostly the same companies from Season 3.  The gold cost reduction to maintain an island made this inevitable.  So my company was relegated to being settlers and paying draconian tax which inhibited our ability to produce.

Anyways, I am happy that you guys are still working the game!

  6. I think it would be cool to have hundreds of caves with just a single container you can claim with a 10 day decay on the cave.  As long as you log in once every 10 days, you cave and stuff is safe.  The cave would have set containers.  Say one storage box, one resource container and one bed.  It could contain small tames that would be safe (birds, cats, monkeys).  Each player can only claim one.

This would be for lawless areas.  New players, who don't have a cave could take ownership of your claimed cave if you allow it to decay (by not visiting the grid for 10 days).  That way, as you grow into a company, you wouldn't need to look back, and some other pirate will find anything you left behind if they happen upon your decayed cave.

I tried supporting grapeshot, they dropped the ball and since the literal fucking release of this game ( i played since day 1 pal) It has been the exact same as it is now, shotty updates with no real progress, this game was dead in the water day 1 and developers need to be held accountable for cash grabs and unfulfilled promises.

I was there at launch too, trying to find a spot, any spot to spawn only to be discoed after waking up in a freeport full of disco'ed bodies.  Spent the first 3 months PVP in the polar region where it was 'safe' dying every 5 minutes until you could make fur when paste and fiber were rare (lol), being eaten by the big bad wolfs.  Yah those were the days.  The game has made a lot of progress since then.

  8. Game companies are all on the verge of bankruptcy.  Thats why a lot of games spring to life on Kickstarter.  MMO's are only survivable if they are popular.  So if you like Atlas, SUPPORT Atlas.  If you are 4000 hours into it and all you can do is badmouth then don't expect next time you log in that the public servers will be available, or the game itself.  They've basically shut down 80% of the servers by killing NAPVE and reducing the size of other grids by 1/4.

SUPPORT GAME COMPANIES  THEY ARE DYING ALL THE TIME.

  9. When they cut the size of the world by 75% they were not planning on growth.  On NA PVP my company was hopeful the wipe would help level the playing field.  By the end of season 3 there were 5-6 megatribes that sailed around only opposed by each other and destroying anyone before they became a threat.  Mistakes in the launch of season four assured nothing would change, in fact the problem is much worse now.

    1.  Cost of island upkeep.  This I think was the major mistake.  Instead of RAISING the cost or setting a limit on island ownership, the cost was lowered to practically nothing.  On day one you could pick up flotsam leaving freeport and own enough gold to buy any island you want.  The same companies bought up all the islands.  They launched on a work day.  So 'professional' players had a jump.  By the time I got off work, virtually all the islands were claimed.

    2.  Map size.  With MORE players and LESS real estate there simply isn't enough room to settle down.  Although the farms and warehouses are GREAT, this simple fact makes them less valuable.  I kind of laughed when the dev's claimed the edge of the map was 'safer' (the world is "roundish").

    3.  Exploits.  Several exploits were created by poor testing.  The most infamous is the Yeti bug, allowing unlimited levels to be obtained.  Within 1 week, many people were are max level.  Barrel duplication...

    _______

PVE, the new bug that glitches the SOTD's basically is KILLING any desire to play PVE.  There is only three things to do with your ships in PVE.

    1.  Kill SOTDs

    2.  Kill the Kraken-  How many times is this fun?

    3.  Kill Whales

The only one that provides BP's is SOTD's....
