or if it was such a crap-shoot they didnt want Wildcards name further ruined by this thing. From what I understand Wildcard and Grapeshot still share the same office building but is still its own entity(technically).

    You don't understand shit.

Maxis makes all of Electronic Art's Sims titles, but it is not at all it's own independent studio.

Grapeshot is a brand made specifically for the Atlas product, as is common place for specific titles or properties at some studios.

Just as "Instinct Games" is a studio made specifically to work on the Ark series:

"Ark has better breeding mechanics for people who cant be online 24/7 or absolutely need their imprints"

Is it easier or what? It's far more tedious, and less accessible. Why would you say it is easier than Ark, but then say its better for people who can't be online 24/7? Are you online 24/7 playing pve atlas, breeding your baby bears in your rp castle?

Have you even played Ark? Breeding is more tedious and time consuming, but you have the option to cryo your tames. Which means you can ensure that you are always online for imprints. However, some shit in Ark, like Wyverns, take up to a hundred hours to grow and have much more intense care and imprint requirements.

Atlas breeding is pretty "set it and forget it" as long as you dont need your imprints. Food stacks higher and lasts longer, troughs hold more, all babies grow at the same rate, they eat less than ark, jerky for preds is easier to make and takes far less time, you don't need to wait to unlock the Tek Trough to breed good shit.

Should I go on about how aggressively out of touch this take is?

Takes a few hours to breed some good animals, have fun with your early/late game scrub harvest rates and getting one shot by op swivel horses, because you won't be able to keep up with those who have the necessary tames/stats.

Scrub my ass, I dont farm shit, I steal it.

I just carved massive swathe across all of Somalia's shit with a fucking ramshackle sloop with one canon, carbine, and a blunderbuss. An army can't control or contain one man. No matter how many tames they have. During mass raids all those swivel riders get picked off by the dudes on high ground quickly. Unless the invaders/defenders suck ass. That's part of the reason securing high ground during a raid is important, in addition to allowing glider/zip line mechanics.

If you think that breeding is boring, and no need for it, that sounds like you're saying that they are repeating the same mistakes with breeding as Ark. Could you explain this further?

Out of touch. Want to ascend? You need those imprinted Rexes.

    9 hours ago, eeeceee said:

Quite the contrary. Breeding is far easier in Atlas.

But it's not friendly to people who can't be around for all of the imprints or stock predator troughs every 10 hours.

instead the devs seem to have abandoned this games development in order to work on ark while potentially major competitors like starbase, new world and lost oasis are about to steal a huge swath of atlas's last remaining now disenfranchised playerbase.

"Fallout 76 is going to kill Rust, Ark, and PUBG!"

New World: Not likely to even touch Atlas. Will flop. Amazon Game Studios doesn't have a good track record making fun games. New World is meant to show off what Lumberyard can do.

Last Oasis: Maybe. We'll see.. Ive only seen trailers so far. Waiting on my beta invite. Really doubt it though. Building battle Straandbeasts appeals to a different crowd than building Ships of the Line.

Starbase: lol no. Space is boring very quickly. I mean, its literally noothing.

what your condescending and mental midget arguments don't seem to address is that 99% percent of the people freaking out and complaining right now, are doing so because we love this fucking game and have huge ambition and hope that atlas stays relevant and constantly evolving in a positive way, which it currently is not.

I really wouldn't use the term "disenfranchised." It's just a game man. If people on this forum "love this game" they have a peculiar way of showing it.  I  don't see how you can say, or anyone can say the "game is dying again" when population keeps going up, and Xbox is just in love with this game.

Four out of five stars on Xbox; for a buggy as fuck EA title. Think about that.

Have you checked the Steam store page lately either?
Not long ago recent and all reviews were both OVERWHELMINGLY negative.

    Now look:

    u9qd6Wo.png

Both the claim that 'the game is dying' and 'its getting worse' are just not congruent with reality.

It falls right in line with clowns who think that "game studios don't work on multiple projects at once" and that "releasing Xbox was a money grab." Look, it's obvious some people on this forum don't know that studios work on several projects at once, and generally, you try to support all platforms at once. Games would take decades to fully roll out if they did it that way *cough Halo: Master Cheif Collection on PC cough* shit sorry I just had some WORK ON TWO DIFFERENT PLATFORMS ONE AFTER THE OTHER stuck in my throat.

I don't  know how else to explain that "this is the normal Early Access experience, you signed up for this, stop being nasty to the devs."They are on boarding just for this game. Go check, you can go to WCs website and see. Erick was hired to do take over design. Like, I dont see how you all can't see that the devs are trying very hard to turn the ship around. The same thing is going on with Ark as well.

My goodness, the complaints about communication or lack there of? This is where my complaints about so many people here begin. "Three months with no communication" that we were completely forewarned about. Let alone that three months is kind of short as far as dev cycles go.

boot lickers preconceptions aside, GS is the only company i've ever known that has handled their games player base in such a way that they have and its not a good look.

This is the only game community I have ever been a part of that is this nasty and entitled at the devs. The reason the devs don't communicate is because this forum and the Discord abuse the shit out of them. Better yet?  They let you do it. You'd never get away with this on any other EA forums, save for maybe Rust/FP... but Gary would just be nasty back at you instead.

    "It's not a good look"

    lol no lmfao

These devs are saints to put up with everyone's shit and not just close feedback entirely. That's not to say I want to suck Jat's donger here. I fucking hate so much about the design of this game. You have no idea how much I want to go to the studio and throw stinky lettuce leafs at everyone's cars some days. But you know what.... I keep those feelings inside.

This community is super abusive and entitled to these devs. You wonder why they don't talk.

Now the fact that Gorgons Gaze - L6 is still fucking down; really chaps my rump

I don't know if you are serious or not. If that's the case... it's time to play another game mango. Just give it a break for a bit. The game will still be here when you get back. Maybe not your stuff, but that gets wiped periodically anyway, no? Going hard in this game is an exercise in futility. I hope you understand that.

It's why I keep telling you guys to not be so entitled about the game, that, if you don't enjoy it, that's on you. This game  is what you make of it. The bugs really don't break anything major, let's be real. That's S1/S2 shit.

No. nope. They have no other games to work on, this is literally what this entire studio was made for, was making this game. That's not how studios work, usually studios build up a portfolio of games they have made and keep going from there.

Usually game designers dont port a game to another platform until their game is already in a pretty respectable state, and most of them give themselves proper time to port it over if its not all ready to go at once.

I mean saying that's how all studios work is a pretty huge stretch. It gives us a pretty good insight into how little you really know about any of this.

I like that you imply that devs don't work on multiple platforms simultaneously, and that you don't know the difference between "multiple platform" and "port."

They dont usually create little side studios to get away from their chinese overlords they sold out to to pay off their court ordered debts, and then technically poach a 2017 mod version of that game from said previous studio, and release it as a brand spanking new game. [Edit: nevermind, it looks like they never really escaped, Snail Games still publishes it in different store fronts(like Microsofts), or intrinsic in some others(egyptian publisher).

Pfffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffft. Studios are indeed often created to work on specific properties.

Well, its a tiny team and they have other games to work on. Thats how all studios work. Early Access is not for you if this is your concern. Furthermore, getting Xbox done early and getting crossplay working at the beginning... makes much more sense than working on it later. Like, I know I throw this out a lot... but for real, I really want you to consider that the devs arent at fault here. You personally, are being bit entitled.

HUGE difference I admit, you got me there, the math is sound. You are right good Sir. Unfortunately I distinctly recall saying 12k was .5-1% out of 1,000,000-2,000,000.

Hey, galaxy brain: No game on Steam has that many players.

    1 hour ago, Inigo said:

You cited Rust. Rust is a game title that is 7 years old, and still has a much higher percentile of players still playing and is still growing. Rust is pretty dedicated to bug fixes, content growth, anti-cheat(including hardware bans)., and sustains itself on more than just selling units of the game.

All of the things that ATLAS developers do not do. Rust is thriving.

If you recall Rust also dipped down to 3k players. Right around a year after Nu-Rust came out... huh...WEIRD. It's like big player lulls happen when EA hype dies and new games come out.

Guess its just coincidence that player counts are going up steadily as the devs balance and optimize things in the background.

    1. Quite the contrary. Breeding is far easier in Atlas
    2.  Absolutely not necessary as carbines and a good ship are needed to progress.
    3.  Breeding is boring when there are alternatives and no need to actually do it.

    u mad bro?

This game is most definitely not about piracy and sailing, it's about carebearing it up, turtling it out on islands, abusing freeports to stash your goods, breeding bears for your cannons, grinding away at SODs to get those SWEET FUCKING PERCENTAGES on your BPs, farming tons of mats to fund your land war.

Sailing is unfortunately the only means of transportation, and is dreadfully boring.

Transporting tens of thousands of mats? Biggest concern? Fucking tornadoes.

Fighting SODS? Biggest concern? Fucking tornadoes....

Chasing player ships? Biggest concern? Those motherfucking Tornadoes.

Looting any ship? Biggest concern? EVERY FUCKING SHARK.

Fighting players? Biggest concern? Man I gotta go through them tornadoes to get to their turtle base so I can drop all these bears and crabs....

I lied, the game is about tornadoes.

Did you just admit to both being bad at and not liking the mechanics of this game? It sounds like you should play something else, to me, frankly. Not being able to chase a prize during a storm is 100% on you and how you built your ship.

Maybe you just don't like this game?

Because its not going to get improved in a timely manor and this game is not about breeding, its about piracy and sailing. Seriously, you have to be a special kind of sensitive to get angry at someone suggesting to not preform an unpleasant activity that doesn't actually improve the game in a meaningful way.

It's conformist and mediocre to say "don't do the things you don't like" in a VIDEO GAME?

Is that what you are telling me? This is some clown shit.

Then folks like Ol boy pegleg up there, "Dont listen to forum chuds the game is super healthy" but then they chud it up and say things like "U mad bruh" when you point out that having 0.5-1% of players playing isnt healthy, nor does it fit the definition of thriving. I was honestly hoping for more man. Like an actual discussion on the real health of the game, not imaginary perceptions.

Are you high? Who cares about the number of people who got the game and only played once. Thats like saying "American Football is dying because only .2% of peewee players make it to the NFL." Also, 12-15k of 50k is not ".5-1%."  Not that percentage of purchasers playing actually matters, that's just a figure you pulled out of your ass to continue to justify your 'dead gaem' circlejerk. Case in point: Rust only has 2% of people who ever bought it playing it right now, still a top 10 game on steam. Then you have absolute pine-cones like @Sau who think that singple-play dont count. Completely ignoring the fact that Xbox stats aren't even reported.

  13. 2 hours ago, The D Legacy said:

once again thats you opinion about the game, and worry not you dont offend me since i actually believe this game should be more about the sea and less about tames as you said, i have probably tamed about 6 creatures in the 700 hrs i played the game, BUT that doesnt mean that every player has to have fun the way i do, ATLAS is very big, and has place for everyone , from tamers or sailors to pvpers, what i believe the problem is here is that a feature (taming) is not working properly, is not designed properly and should be fixed and reworked to whatever fits the developers vision of taming in ATLAS.

Could like, like try to capitalize and spell properly? lol.

That aside, breeding is actually really easy compared to Ark in this game. Like... REALLY easy. The person I replied to was literally complaining... just to complain about something that isn't actually a problem.

Moreover, there is no need to breed in this game, yous said it yourself.

Its clear you are just trying to be smarmy while accusing me of it.

  14. 39 minutes ago, Inigo said:

Well you took it like it was directed at you or something, so it must have resonated.

The highest peak for the month was 11k according to steamstats, the peak today was 6k according to Steam itself. And it just got off of being on sale.... Soooo like temporary inflation from a $9 sale for an EA game doesnt amount to a game thriving as much as it points towards it general trend of 3-4k peaks being padded by a sudden influx of players.

Using the word entitlement to describe people you disagree with is pretty dismissive of other people's general experience and opinion of the game that you obviously do not share.

People dealing with probems you may not have encountered or had negative experiences you may not have had, and voice their opinion of the state of the game and the development team are not entitled. What they are; are customers who paid for a product, that is realistically under performing on both PC and XBOX. PC players who literally funded the games continued existence are also genuinely not happy that development of the game literally got put on the back burner so they could push out the shabbiest of all launches on xbox to abysmal performance issues if it was even playable.

Just.... So they could get some money flowing again, because lets be honest PC interest had waned to an all time low at that point, as in it was fluctuating b 500 to 2k peaks(SUPER HEALTHY AND THRIVING! This was just before the xbox release).

At the end of the day, over 1,000,000-2,000,000 PC users have bought ATLAS. At the end of the day if you want to talk about a game thriving, if it's averaging 5-6k players daily according to steamcharts, thats like 0.25-0.5% of the players that own the game. Lets just say its 11 or 12k peaking out like ya said, thats still only 0.5-1% of the PC playerbase.

It's just like pokémon. People like things like that, me too. It's part of Atlas and I think it's important for most of the people. In PvP they are necessary for land pvp and in PvE for farming and trading. It will always be a big part of the game but I do not disagree that Atlas needs a fix for the sea-feature. Atlas is pretty boring actually when it comes to pirate/sea stuff. The content in its current form is too small. You shouldn't take tames and breeding away from the people but the Devs need to make things more attractive like using your ship or make PvP less pain in the ass and more interesting to do it on sea.

I feel like tames need to take more of a role like hunter pets in WoW. Still breedable/ridable mind you, but... more permanent, more personal, resurrectable. It would make the need too have hundreds of tames on PvP pointless, make getting wiped sting less, maps would be easier, you could summon them in dungeons.... it would be more in-line with other MMOs.

Its just a good idea all around.

Oh! No need to crowd ships with tames that fall off decks... shit. Its a solution to SOOO many problems.

  17. 39 minutes ago, Caine said:

See, I think breeding is in a pretty good spot. Ofc you will need some time to figure things out but it's possible to build a breedingstation for many tames where the temperature is always perfect, so you don't need to do something than feeding and farming food.

If I had someone else besides myself dedicated to farming meat and salt, I'd be breeding out the wazoo too. But, like I said, Ive come to realize after not doing much of it this season it's not important, and frankly distracting. Its a good side-job or downtime activity to get, as I mentioned: moderate gains. I totally get it for dedicated breeding as a source of income or as part of a war effort.

Again tho: this isn't Ark, it's Atlas lol. Our tames are just farm equipment and disposable fuzzy soldiers, not the name of the game like they are in Ark.
