  1. what atlas needs right now  is a PR rep with power. someone to crack the whip and get people to talk about shit. someone invested. because honestly, what has happened with all the silence and shafting the community could very well ruin this games future forever. you devs need to step up your game here.

tiny hints, teasers, and even explanations along the way of development, even if its boring shit like optimisation... hype is like a flame... you need to keep feeding it in a controlled manner else as simple as a candle could burn your house down.  right now.. the hype to make atlas the greatest sandbox survival pvp fantasy pirate mmo the world has ever seen... has turned into resentment and loathing.

i keep rewatching the dev streams trying to figure out where it all went to hell... it occured to me, after months of silence from the devs and rewatching the vague "blueprint" stream over and over again, that the devs find "surprises" fun and entertaining... now look at the steam charts.... we do not.

TALK ABOUT SHIT GOD DAMN IT.

looks like new world just killed the pvp sandbox aspect of the game oh well more disappointment im use to it by now.

youll never know till it comes out. itll probably have split servers, one with the opt in pvp and one with permanent pvp. we will see.

  3. yes the npc vender is where the soup can be bought for 250 gold. Its a smart idea to leave a tame with a stash of gold at the freeport for future easy access to respecs. Id even suggest to the devs that the soup can be made at home by a master chef for easier access.

concerning the bug you mentioned. Back just a couple weeks ago when you used to be able to gain xp from beheading someone... befor SDC ruined it for everyone abused the hell out of it by placing alt characters in a corner of the powerstone caves as they farmed xp via farming the soldier of the damned, then beheading the alts for extra xp for their main characters.... when you beheaded someone, it would leave a deficit of xp but you would still have your lvl after bring beheaded... but as soon as youd repec after being beheaded, your true xp lvl would become your new lvl... now, perhaps although you can no longer gain xp by beheading someone, perhaps the person being beheaded can still lose their xp and their lvl goes to hell. honestly, i don't know as i haven't tested it since the update.

    This

This, indeed. Im hearing rumors that a dev leaked it was this week... 5 days or what not... but who knows. mad trolls everywhere so idk... but honestly im getting burnt out/annoyed at what's lacking in the atlas... this january update better be damn good. new world right around the corner... its gonna take a miracle to keep people playing atlas.

  5. Tomorrow at 6 PM eastern l will be hosting a prayer vigil on L7 lawless east most island NA PVP.

We will be commemorating the 8 months of barely any content while the dev's had promised many times that they were working on content just to shaft their community and instead worked on the xbox money grab.

When it turns dark, we will walk each of us carrying torches, in single file to the clearing in the valley where I built a hangman's tree. We will surround the tree, share our Hope's and dreams for atlas with each other, chant the songs of our ancestors.. and one by one...hang our selves in the tree.

With our sacrifice, may the gods of atlas save this games future and bring us all real content this January.

May automated shipping, NPC controlled sailing routes, boss loot tables and a functioning economy bless us all.

    Amen.

  6. If its wood you can use tools or tames to eventually break it down. If its stone you can use explosive barrels if its close enough to the surface... other wise,  you're shit out of luck.

I feel there should be more ways to destroy underwater structures... I and anyone else knowledgeable of this games mechanics put up unraidable underwater fobs on every island we go to... there has got to be more ways to raid these things... like torpedoes on a sub that can't break planks, only structures and other subs or some shit.

Can by company build on an island controlled by another company, if so what are the pros and cons?

depends really... if the island owner company is strong and you're allowed to park in their harbor, you can expect a happy existence, casually farming away without having to invest the crazy man hours it takes to properly defend an island.

now, if you set up on an island with a weak or incompetent war mongering island owner company... you can expect your harbors to be ran in everyday because you'll be associated with the weak/incompetent island owner.

just remember, as a taxpayer you are an asset to any company that hosts you. because of that, youll be attacked and wiped out first in most scenarios, just so the host company cant benefit from you. your bases and resources will be used as places to craft gear and ammo and to fight out of by the enemy if the host company cant defend you.

Wow, you have to be a very young, unworldly, and extremely naive person who lacks empathy and other essentially successful traits to pass as a human being.

Do you think that this policy will work for all occasions? Nope, it might be your preference that players announce and request access to the island you dwell on but that certainly is not my experience with all of the other psychotic island inhabitants that I have encountered. Generally, once your presence is known, you will be immediately told to get lost. I have found it much safer and more successful to hide my outposts opposed announcing where they reside.

i personally only announce myself if i'm doing a map and the spot is in their base. if they tell me to fuck off i generally wipe them off the map or run their harbor into the bottom of the sea. if im putting discovery beds down, i don't ask, i just do it. if they destroy it or try to chase me off, ill come and wipe them later... some people don't know respect so you gotta teach them.. wipe them out so someone who knows respect can move in.

  9. well, i say this all the times but, AUTOMATED SHIPPING AND NPC CONTROLLED ROUTEING IS THE ANSWER!!!

Everyone wouldn't get bored to death with exotic resource shipping. Just put an npc on the wheel of the weight shit, send it and do something else. perhaps even put an npc on the wheel of a battleship and set it to follow the weight ship and BOOM you got a trade caravan.

and this is what automated shipping would do for everyone.
    1. small companies would have a better chance of getting BP'd boats and gear. Small companies will have an easier time competing with the large companies and large companies will love it because they will get an actual fight from someone other than other large companies. win win.
    2. every company would have more targets than attacking islands and the occasional ship you run into at sea. less small casual companies quitting after being wiped because someone was bored.
    3. Piracy will become a real element to this game.
    4. trade will become a real element to this game.

the tediousness of shipping and the distinct lack of trade and competition will be replaced with content!

    CONTENT CONTENT CONTENT!!!!!

So many poorly thought out changes in this patch. A common deck swivel already take you down to like half hp so now its just gonna straight up murder you and they also decreased the grenade damage against swivels and puckles with 80%. This patch effectivly removes ship boarding from the game entirely.

Also how are you supposed to raid a pillar base now? Funny enough they haven't done anything to the cannon bear so any base thats not on a pillar is just shit out of luck. Considering the devs have acknowledge pillar bases are a problem its fucking weird that they buff them.

it's still possible to raid a pillar base. cannons out range puckles after all... the attackers will just need to build an outrageous ramp system to position their cannon carts now. I forsee 24 hour raid tokens being actually used this season now.

dolly also said they wanted ship boarding to be a thing in atlas. then they got rid of it totally. I think these devs are fly by night.

Will just need more grenades to break the cannons and kill the npc's now. or oil jars. boarding really hasn't changed much, its always been about boarding at the right angle and getting behind the npc's and kill them with melee anyways. or, gliding onto a mast platform (that swivels can't really reach you anyways) and droppin grenades on em.  not much has changed. just damage ratios.

Unless that was broken recently the ship has a cooldown so you can't chain the feats.   Thought that was fixed going into season 3 or possibly just before wipe.  Don't remember when it was updated.

the ship dosnt have a cool down, the player does.

  12. oh and here's something a lot of pc vets don't even know: you can put 3 podiums on a gal, 2 on a brig, and 1 on a schooner. you know how you can use feats for cannon reload and rally the troops? well you can also use it on the podium. so, if your on the wheel and you have your friends on the podiums, you can spam the feats and shoot a volley every sec, consistently.

I have noticed with each wipe that there are less people taking the time to wall off whole islands and pave over resources although some ignorant fools still waste their lives doing it. What helps me endure this type of grief is knowing it all be be wiped eventually. They will either quit playing or a new season will start with a fresh wipe. It’s bogus but it’s better than it was and will hopefully keep improving.

i wouldnt count on it for a long long time.

Our decision to wipe the Networks was not made lightly and involved much deliberation and factoring in of technical aspects and the impact on our current PC players. We have made big changes to the game under the hood, revamped the world map with the addition of over 70 new, unique island templates, as well as some considerable optimization changes and limits put in place which required a full data wipe.

After these sets of changes, we do not plan to wipe the network again, even with the introduction of additional platforms and new areas & islands further down our development timeline. We value and appreciate the time spent on the game and the only reason we carry out these wipes is after exhausting all possible alternatives and when they become a necessity.

Didn't they hired a new lead designer in August?

the top dude is named Jesse Rapczak. the guy that was replaced is named jeremy stieglitz who was right under jesse. replacing jeremy was probably just a ploy to make it look like they are shifting gears and be the fall guy for lying to all their super angry supporters about all the content promises when they were really working on xbox crossplay. jesse is the one who held the strings and operated the rest of the devs, not jeremy. id speculate the main problem with all of this is that they are spreading their time across two games development... ark AND atlas at the same time... when they should really be focusing their time on one at a time and have others who are capable, investing all their time into the other. it's no wonder development is going nowhere in atlas except "optimising"... they're not completely focused on it. not like they were when they started ark.

but what do i know. they dont talk to us anymore. i dont even remember the last time there was a live devstream about atlas
