Thinking about coming back after hearing about a wipe. Any new info on the barrel bomb thing that broke ship combat?

now barrels arent a huge issue compared to there still being gold cost for ships and broken trade mechanic. but theyre working on it and its still a good time. come on back.

Yea I've yet to see a completed trade that I'm aware of.

         1. I can't figure out how to scroll through the logs. The UI just skips over it, or, I don't understand how to interact w it (console)

         2. If I put out a trade that I'm offering 10k materials for 20k of another i would think the order may be filled by multipe sources. IF, big IF, it locks it into a 2 party activity then thats inefficient if I have to wait on them to farm it. Unless the goal is to boycot or embargo someone etc. I have it set to public and any route (I think), 10k for 20k, 1:2 ratio, like the stock market.. Jimmy fills 25% of the order, BillyBob fills 9%, etc until its done or deleted.

        3. Didn't see salt or sugarcane. Maybe i missed it?

        4. Eta would be nice also. I don't know if it's not working, if I messed my end up, or if its working fine (like a 3 day hold at a bank)

        5. Also there was a vague reference to making "10" off the transaction, i think, right? If that means I'll make 10 gold for participating, well I dunno.... ummm 🥱. I want the mats due to fresh server etc.... I guess if things start piling up I'll play click for gold if I'm bored... I guess part of it also depends on how mechanics and content proceed, conservative start was stated etc..😴

i think one is transacting another is open,.. not sure though

    TTYL

weve got stuff coming in and out with trades between the alliance companies... except i have yet to see a trade vessel that i could pillage.

Wtf are you talking about? are you rdy to lose 50k gold in seconds coz barrels? coz demasting by barshots? coz shieldbashing in harbour? coz 40/40 anchored ships in grid? coz crash when transfering from server to server? This prices can work on PvE server.. not PvP server.. wake up man

it will be balanced out eventually. idk why you're freaking out. remember day one? sailing a raft for hours with no wind? remember automatic fire sod cannons? lmao... did all that shit stay in the game forever? cmon now. shit gets adjusted and tweaked. may be uncomfortable at first but the systems are needed for long term game health.

but i do agree tho. shit needs to be done about barrels and shield bash spam.

EASY FIX: make it so barrels can only be equipped by people that have it unlocked. make it so shield bash takes a shit ton of stamina to use. boom.

    Ships

    • Increased Gold cost for crafting ships
      • Schooner: 50 → 5,000 Gold
      • Brigantine: 250 → 25,000 Gold
      • Galleon: 500 → 50,000 Gold

This must be an April joke.

This is a pirate game, not a trading game, everyone should be able to make ships, not just the big companies, and people on the lawless islands can forget to build ships. can someone fire the three stooges before they destroy the game, and delete ships for gold this is nuts.

cant have piracy without trade, else it's just a battleship farm simulator game lol. i think you might end up liking it in the long run, once the trade system is fleshed out you get a few high value hauls and game life becomes about accruing wealth instead of just territory. they need to add rare goods, not just materials and blueprints. bring back the top hat, bunny ears and start making new fancy rare items that players will want to horde and display as a sign of wealth and prestige.

i also still hope they add a bounty system. i want to white night and hunt pirates as well as be the bad guy and be a pirate. a law system would be very cool to go along with the trade system. perhaps the systems could work together where if you own the trade hub you get a notification if a trade ship has been seized in your waters or what have you and a bounty is then issued for the pirates head to be returned to the trade hub bounty head drop box within 10 hours for like 10k or something. allow dead bodies to be put in the guillotine and their head harvested.

achievements and titles would be cool too. master pirate for number of trade ships seized. headhunter for number of heads collected. yadaya. so many possibilities.

bring back the top 5 company badges. perhaps add badges for top trade companies and pirate companies?

and lets be real, seasons are what shit games need to keep ppl playing. if you give players a reason to come back every day besides chores and wars, game health will dramatically rise. the trade system and piracy are a fantastic start. bring on a bounty system, achievements, titles and rare items too please.

    Do something about BARRELS.

You obviously see the barrel problem by the 90% damage reduction you made against your new towers damage.  Now how about everything else.

i don't understand why they don't just limit barrels to catapults and fix it gliders cant carry barrels and get back to the old days when you press shift you had control of lift. they need to add more catapult mechanics like elephant saddles.. i mean it would make more sense and be somewhat historically accurate considering what the ancient indians and hindu did with mounted ballista, javelins throwing and everything else. elephant war machines were moving, armored battle towers. alexander the great and the romans told some crazy tales about it.  they gotta do something with the tortuga too... its not living up to the armored personnel carrier i always hoped it would be. . its obvious barrels are a problem and i haven't even logged in in a pretty long time.. but other than that, it seems who ever is in charge of development actually gives a fuck this time and im excited.  I'M COMING BACK! this wipe coming, im coming back. can't wait.

I don’t know much about the new trading system, because I have hardly been online since the loss of the C8 island. ATLAS should be more detailed in the distribution of member rights. In my sleep, my flag was pulled by the management of the guild. The main point of view is that small teams and single players should be given more living space, increase the importance of gold coins, and reduce the amount of necessary materials for the three explosive barrels and shells of metal, crystal, and gems, because metal and gems The flooding of crystals resulted in a defensive building on an island that could not be exploded for a lifetime, and a super-high-damage explosive barrel that could not be thrown away for a lifetime. This did not make the war frequent and exciting, which brought disaster to the small team. There are also adjustments to the upper limit of the level. In view of the current difficulty in obtaining experience, we should consider lowering the upper limit of the level. Blueprints are the source of ATLAS magic pirates and need some magical things, but at present, the attributes of these blueprint items are too strong and need a lot of weakening. I'm still thinking about a question. If trade can really get a lot of gold, does the meaning of digging treasure maps only lie in obtaining blueprints? The existence of farmhouses makes a large number of animals redundant. Perhaps elephants and giraffes should be made useful. For example, elephants can carry more cannons and whirling cannons? There is also a need for diversified naval battles. I want boarding battles and a greater degree of modification of ships. I also want to draw patterns on the boat boards, paint that will not fade, and custom-made clothes.

i think perhaps the devs should rework the buried treasure concept. pirates didn't just find maps and dig gold. pirates either inherited a map, bought it, killed someone and/or stole the map, or hid their plunder by throwing it in a hole and drew a map to it so they could find it again later.. then kept plundering. people do this now with underwater cashes and company map markers but there's a limit on markers... why not make a digging mechanic where you bury loot chests and automatically make a map note to find it and pick it up later. map note gets consumed after it gets dug back up, cant be destroyed, and if it gets dropped or despawned in a corpse, it will spawn on some far off shore in a map bottle soon after.. would be an excellent loot to pirate from someone or find.. would be cool if treasure chest spot can be dug up even without the map in inventory yet will still consume the map when dug up. make blue prints only obtainable from bosses, shipwrecks, SOD's and flotsam.. if you can't just remove BP's from the game altogether lol... and im only talking about pvp. pve is another story as i'm sure they would like to keep their regular treasure maps and ridiculous BP's. hell, this mechanic could work even alongside the regular maps system but would needs to be identifiable as a player made treasure map.

I have witnessed ATLAS Lawless Island from 50 people per server to 5 people per server,Ninety percent of the players lost by ATLAS are lawless island  players. They are small teams and single players.Your game mechanics need major changes, take advantage of the early access mode.Advice for PVP server,This is a pirate game, what the pirates want is gold coins and resources。ATLAS pays too much attention to the performance of blueprint items, causing players to focus on how to obtain mythical blueprints。The current game mechanics of ATLAS are destined to not retain new players,The highest online number of this game will only be when the season restarts And then keep falling、Can't make the number stable。Because the safety of the players on the lawless island cannot be guaranteed, many people often wake up after a sleep and find that they have lost everything。what ATLAS keeps losing is the players on the lawless islands.

Perhaps reducing the output of resources such as metals and gems and crystals and weakening the attributes of blueprint items will increase more players and wars

Reducing labor on land does not increase warfare at sea, because the reason why players do not conflict at sea is that they are busy obtaining drawings

Make it easier for the ship board to be penetrated by cannonballs. For example, 5 or 3 shells can make the ship board leak. The ship board cannot be replaced and can only be repaired and requires players or NPCs to repair it all the time. The ship plate can be renewed after breaking down.

You need to weaken the attributes of the blueprint items, because it is very difficult for players on the island of lawlessness to obtain,I swear I didn’t think I should weaken the drawing attributes because I didn’t get it. I was a member of JOJO last season. I had a drawing of 5 legendary large-scale control sails with 122, and I made it with a 130-level crow and dolphin buff. Out of 4 125 and 1 123,I just think the blueprint items are too powerful, and many players don’t have a chance to get them if they don’t join a large company. When a large company gets it, they have many ways to prevent small companies from getting it.!

Weakening the output of metal gem crystals will also reduce the number of ordinary ships. Players will also cherish their own ships. Reduce the number of blueprint ships or the difference in attributes will make more players dare to fight.

Let players collect basic resources, delete farmhouses, and reduce the output of some basic materials. Players will also fight for basic materials.

The other is the problem of large Large control sails,Why can a large controlled sail sail so fast? And it can also make the ship turn faster. I think the acceleration of the large-scale control sail should be weakened and its influence on the ship's rotation should be removed. I didn’t even see the large-scale speed sail in the 100-man decisive battle of the H8 last season. The naval battle should be determined by the old captain's superb technology and the diversified collocation of ships (the choice of weapons, the choice of sails, the number of people, the number of ships, and the matching of ships), as well as the battle of the ship. The existence of the whirling gun makes the battle of the ship basically impossible.

You need to improve the status of gold coins, first weaken the attributes of the drawing items, and then set up gold coins to buy some drawings in the free port, and buy any basic materials including metal gems and crystals, so that the status of gold coins is improved, and then reduce the amount of money except for killing ghost ships. And the amount of gold coins obtained other than treasure digging.Or set up to buy blueprints and basic materials on the marine merchant ship, or create a new merchant ship, the player can sail to rob the merchant ship and fight the merchant ship.

Now you have limited the amount of XP you can get. I think the upper limit of level 120 is no longer necessary. It can be reduced to level 80. After all, most players did not reach level 120 until the end of the season. Players from big companies, such as me, were early in the season. It reached level 120 within the first month.

My English is not good. Translation software is used in many places. I hope the developers can understand what I mean.

    Good luck

    JOJO company

i wasnt a fan of hearing about the automated resource gathering at first either but now I assume its because they intend to make trading the leading source of gold income and increase the amount of gold it takes to maintain the island and everything else. piracy is going to be a huge part of warfare. war of attrition, and starving enemies out of gold. blockades are going to be a real thing soon and i'm looking forward to it. lots of gameplay going to revolve around these mechanics and it sounds like its going to be awesome.

i definitely agree about the blueprints. i say they remove them entirely and figure out another way to make ships valuable to the player. perhaps more cosmetic means, like if a ship has a number of logged enemy kills or distance traveled or whatever, it gets access to special expensive upgrades with "mythical" parts except instead of "mythical" meaning quality blueprint upgrades, it's a special skin you can apply to a ship part per achievement lvl... like a foggy deck, fancy sails, planks with special carvings, special materials, or gold trim. possibilities are endless. but as it stands, quality blueprints are game breaking and it would be so much healthier for the game just to remove them. would love to see an emphasis on skill instead of ship quality.

also definitely agree about the lvl cap being 80, maybe even lower. get back to making people specialise but still give access to all the basics. would give so much value to the economy, trade and the dynamics of war too. and hey, there'd always be the respec soup if someone wanted to switch it up, but id also like to see limits on those too. like once every 3-5 days.

@ Enki yeah whatever matey, you quit the game so very long ago. You been waiting 2 years has no relevance.

The trade routes would make it easier, but the way that the devs has gone down their path is hardly the right idea.

its not just easier, its more gameplay loops. piracy and an actual economy is huge. now they just need to make rare items besides just high quality stuff. fancy hats. bring back the top hat and bunny ears. make a golden crown. make loot people want to horde as a sign of wealth and prestige.

and youre right, i have taken a break for a number of months and have no idea where the community and gameplay is at right now. i had grown very salty at the state of the game and the devs inaction... cant forget the big fuck you to the community either... i was emotionally invested and felt betrayed. but still, i do miss the old days playing this. it was a great adventure for a time. but what theyre talking about now. the trade routes, the new trade system. its actually making me want to come back... and after everything, thats a big deal.

I dont know the intent or their actual vision for this game.

However i quickly got hooked and really like playing Atlas. But every time you turn around they make it worse.

Animals were marginalized from must have to useless.

Ships are now headed the same way since you can set up a trade route rather than sail from D3 to k7 to broker a deal for your materials to obtain a well bred animal. Nope stay at home and let the trade route deliver.

No sense going for all the cool achievements and killing bosses. They are doing away with loot drops.

The map is dumb now. North and south are not cold, no the south east corner is.

And we have a saying in florida if you dont like the weather wait 5 minutes.

Well in Atlas its fun to experience cyclones in the rain followed immediately by a heat wave while in the 'tundra' region.

Or 15 SOD ships are nailing you immediately as you cross a border combined with 8 cycles as you get glitch crashed into an island or iceberg with 0 chance your ship can survive.

Or black of night fog with cyclones and SOD you cant even see until its too late.

Now the weird trade route islands that only a bare minimum of companies had a chance to claim.

Im done Atlas you took a game i was virtually addicted to and drove me away.

first off, i understand your frustration but i honestly think they've got the right idea on their path forward now.

trade routes will only make it easier for small groups to compete, if the devs do it right. by doing it right, im saying making the trade ships be sinkable, lootable and stealable to establish an actual piracy profession and vibrant trade economy in this game. where it would be stupid to do the big trades without an actual armed escort driven by players and crew. ive waited 2 years for this.

Has it not occurred to you that small groups should not be suited to control vast swaths of territory but be better suited for guerrilla warfare and piracy?

they also need to add an ingame friendly list, not just alliances and enemies. maintaining a irl list of friendly merchant companies will be a pain in the ass.

    • Thanks 1

  11. just waiting to play again till "trade winds" is implemented. if i cant put an npc on the wheel and send it to some far off grid, im not even gonna bother. hopefully the devs don't take the easy route and just make "better wind highways"... automated shipping or bust.. but we will see. hopefully they dont kill atlas again prematurely.. but by the looks of what ppl are saying with barrels.. idk lol

  12. QA bullllllllshit. we want the actual plans.. where things currently are, your next step and how you're getting there.. we've already endured a false roadmap, RELENTLESS SILENCE, jat, dollie and whats his name... this guy

Atlas deserves better. We deserve better.

    BE BETTER

  13. judging by this lame QA and reading the comments, i think i had made a good choice staying away this new season and not risk wasting my time and disappointment again lol.

    Here's a real question.

     1. Please explain the "trade winds". Is it automated shipping where we can put NPC's on the wheel, plot a course and send the npc controlled boat to a distant grid? Or is it just a patch of water you can go faster on or have better wind in? cause we need to know. automated shipping would revolutionise this games economy, piracy, war and bring vast amounts of player driven content to the game..."better wind patches" is boring and not worth anyone's time and i personally will not be coming back for anything less than automated shipping.

with new world coming in july same as there wipe the amount coming back will be very low. also will you be coming back to L7 and will there even be an L7?

i won't personally be coming back hard until i see what this "trade wind" business is about. DVS my clan will though, and you might find me out in the world a few times. i still have a bad taste in my mouth from jat and dollies bullshit and whats his name, the last new lead dev dumpster fire that literally did nothing for months dude.
ive been playing star citizen and i will be playing new world when it comes out.

  15. its interesting reading these comments from people that haven't experienced a wipe before. this would be my 4th? idk. i quit months ago. shits funny, but i feel ya.

im really interested in what has been proposed this time around. I think although we can all agree that the leadership for GS has failed their games community to often to count.. even though this is a little to late to bring everyone back... i think this is what we were all waiting for. "Trade Winds, Farms, Warehouses"

now im hoping when they say "trade winds" they mean automated shipping where NPC's take the wheel, you plot their course and send it. I myself have been fighting for this since Day one. Imagine filling a galleon with goods putting an npc on the wheel, plotting the course to your warehouse islands.. putting npc's on the wheel of a war briggs and setting them to follow on the galleon... boom you got a protected merchant floatilla.  imagine the content. all player driven. would revolutionize the markets, trade, war and piracy. would revolutionize the game.

Also like the new proposed map layout. a pvp hot spot was needed. a moderately safe zone was needed. combined with automated shipping, this will be glorious. I'm excited for the prospect but i'm sick of being disappointed. i guess we will see. if the results are as good as i hope, a lot of people will come back.

  16. i was once hooked, back when the devs seemed to give a shit. 3000 hours of pvp mayhem. it was good while there was hope but alas.. this is my first time posting since last oasis came out. i want to give a shit. atlas has such potential with a lot going for it. it truly is a shame they dropped the ball. i still have hope someday the GS devs pull a no mans sky and end up delivering on some expectations no matter how bad they tanked it.  maybe, once theyre done with ark... maybe.

but then again, im a pessimist.

  17. reputation is everything, and in the survival MMO market which is supposed to be their bread and butter, they've fucked themselves for future buyers. a pump and dump will not work for them again.

and you act like ea hasnt lost billions because of their shit lol. just look at anthem. battlefield 5 took many years to make a profit.

I would. From someone who works in the software biz (I test software), I know that if there are 20 people working on a project like Atlas, maybe 2 of them are making all the important design and scheduling decisions. The rest are just working on stuff assigned to them. The typical dev doesn't make any of the decisions that most people here are so upset about. It is irrational to take this out on them.

I am also worried this ship is sinking, but I'm not going to boycott some other game just because one of the former Atlas devs now works there.

they must be made an example for future projects/studios and what happens when you screw over your community without any substantial communication. This isnt just about atlas, this is about the future of gaming.

well well well, its seems that the shit i have been calling out for months was not wrong at all, "time will tell" they say and it sure did tell!! all this time withstanding personal attacks from the whiteknights of this game sure was worth it xDDD

The only question left is: will the current and former players have any dignity left and move on, or will they cling back to ATLAS if they ever decide to continue its development?? (i already know the answer, but guys.. do you?)

Last Oasis comes out in 5 days.. its not even a question where most current and former players will be going... with what the beta testers have said, its already in a better state than atlas is after a year and a half into EA... as far as dignity is concerned, i'll never trust snail games/wildcard/grapeshot or any other studio that hires ANY of these devs, every again. I put my heart mind body and soul into this game just to get abandoned.. they wrote out the road map in crayon on a sheet of toilet paper...took a massive shit on my face and said... how's this for a development homie.. then i never heard from them again. no thanks.

Would take a god tier patch to bring me back after this... and even then, id most likely never buy another game or dlc from them again anyways, on principle.
