    Hello Pirates,

yesterday Chinese Companys started to take over the B7 Server.

Today they arrived at our claim and now they start to do "stuff" i don't understand because i don't have any PvP experience.

They do not react to anything written nor the ingame voice chat, to each other they talk in chinese/asien only, so i do not know what they want.

Therefor we don't know what to do and maybe someone can explain these mechanics.

They shoot each other and place body all over our claim, why?

They are able to place several Declaim Flags at once, how is that possible? Is that a skill?

They don't build anything, they just declaim, claim, destroy everything, build a 1x1 structure with a bed and leave, why?

They declaimed my neighbors claim even though  both of them where sleeping in the house, is that new? I didn't see anything in patch notes.

They allure agro animals in us, why?

We are scared to log out now.

    > They shoot each other and place body all over our claim, why?
Probably to lure animals? Like agro it on one body than next and so on hoping to kill sleepers?

    > They are able to place several Declaim Flags at once, how is that possible? Is that a skill?
As far as i know 1 per person, so 5 persons would put 5 flags.

    > They don't build anything, they just declaim, claim, destroy everything, build a 1x1 structure with a bed and leave, why?
Resource zone with ability to teleport to defend territory or something like that.
Beside using this bed they can teleport and claim more moving easily between islands.

    >They allure agro animals in us, why?
To kill sleepers, make game unfun and claim your territory.

They declaimed my neighbors claim even though  both of them where sleeping in the house, is that new? I didn't see anything in patch notes.
They probably agroed animals to them first and killed them this way. So no sleepers.

Basically welcome to PvP in PvE where pvp is based solo on griefing technics and  your only contribution can be to plan and predeploy static defenses like walls, multiple floors on building and consistency in  sleeping in safe spot (4th floor without access from above) and keeping animals on 4rth floor of any building and some other stuff.
Ah right, and as far as i know you HAVE to have to build out of stone or animals will break your buildings and kill sleepers.

    Edit:
Ah, forgot one thing - plan for animals to SPAWN on first floor so no direct easy access without doors to sleepers.

  2. The moment they make wood or thatch look different than ruined remnants of apprentice attempt to build something without tool I will stop caring. But right now stone is the best (even if its at most mediocre) looking building material.

Edit: btw. this is a game, we can talk about how realistic would be building stone buildings with the tools available. Or even better, wood ones. Nope, i will stick to fun/not fun comparison.

Honestly, I think the biggest problem for Melee and maybe even H2H is how bad the lag is in this game. If the game isn't lagging, I do quite well with my Pike (It's hard to balance this because of the amount of buffs and scaling it has, someone with a 180% Pike, 25% damage from armor, Vita buff and Grog hits insanely hard, as in harder then any other weapon/tame in the game).

Stone structure nerf was a decent idea but horrifically executed. I mean, of all the ideas, adding Sap? A resource that entire zones are utterly devoid of?

Fire arrows are useless outside lighting oil jars. Bows are...fine for what they are, but guns, which should be the natural progression, are garbage so it's like ??????????

Disco points are a good and fun idea, but I feel like the grind to get to a meaningful level is exacerbated by the fact that it's so difficult to be useful outside of one or two niches until level 70.

I'm actually a fan of the cooking tree. It looks hard and complicated but the buffs from it are substantial. They just need to add a lot more recipes so that it's not an ultra-late-game tree.

To tell the truth I don't use melee at all when I'm not forced too. I've used it a bit lately when i had to remake sloop every few hours during fountain rash, mostly because i needed hide fast and bow was too much work for return value. Maybe on super late game its usable but imho carabine or even bow +180% damage will be more efficient than pike.

Fire arrows actually are imho still the most useful tool in PvE for army of the damned and alphas, just less cost effective than they were. Especially because they are AoE or at least able to hit multiple enemies with one shot and some kiting.

Bows are not fine, or rather bow tree skill is not fine. Sure, bow in itself is solid thing, problem is exactly what you said - bow get replaced by guns which (again in PvE, sorry, I'm not fun of rebuilding every few days) are so over the top when it comes to damage output in short amount of time, that there is no point in using it. If there was any kind of better bow (like compact bow) down the tree, or at least some kind of better perks (piercing shot?! useless from my point of view, not sure about pvp, but imho this perk has no place in game), it would be viable.
There is no point to invest into this skill tree beyond bow, fire arrows, (maybe) unlock firearms and ability to use blue and better bows.

    Edit:
Cooking I've discarded after trying to find a way to get water efficiently. I can make 2 and half tea from barrel of water or 1 tea from stone reservoir and vitamin boost is so insignificant vs time involved that I will stick to raw stuff forever - there is no justification to use low level recipes if you are not living on island with fresh water and all necessary ingredients. Not to mention that most stuff doesn't have any buffs beside vitamins and most buffs from what i see are not efficient enough for work involved for most of the players.

By the way, Grog is from piracy tree, not cooking tree and Rum and Ale (so the two you would probably find most important) are basic recipes from the start of the tree. And i can't see a point of moving down below, excluding the preservation skill, if you are not living in tundra and has all the stuff for spicy food.

Well.. The owner can demolish it after 4 days since he changed the law.... 4 days later.. HE STILL CAN'T DO ANYTHING TO YOUR STUFF

Let me tell you a tale!

I've made 1 of my coastal flags free for new players arriving at our Big and awesome Island.

Day later. A moron placed a tiny shipyard on my only rock and metal deposits(There was aaaaa looooot of place around). .. I changed it to company only and now it's 2nd week after that and still can't demolish it.

Never again will I make my flags free 😕

Welcome to hell. Had same thing with bonus of another moron building taming spot on tone of resources (and that one i can't wipe also even after week time).
Another one (different) built small shipyard. Same issue.

Jats twitter blew up with angry players. That brought it to their attention.  Doubt anybody with decision powers thought it would be an issue.   Frequent mistake they make

The hell, we have twitter based development or something?!

Seems 1 after the last patch, i would like 3. Lets be honest travelling to every single island and running around to find the discoveries is a ridiculous feat to ask. I would make it 3 and if people want to they are rewarded in some way for the time spent, cosmetic a rare items.

I don't even mind the grind that much. But the process is what bugs me. They managed to put stuff in place with logical explanation than hotfix it immediately (probably when someone with decision power saw that in changelog) back.

Wildcard doesn't have a game balance guy. They have Jat watching streams and making changes based on what streamers bitch about.

The biggest issue with Wildcard is that none of them play their own games. They have no QA testers. They have no real customer support. They don't pay attention to community feedback. Those issues are inherent to the reasons why Wildcard can't seem to make a good patch or game to save their lives. They are wholly, by their own choice, separate from the community that plays their games, and make/take no attempts to fix that issue.

It certainly look like they don't think through any balance changes and all we have is a stream of constant reactions.

    And as for general balance?
    Melee = useless.
Hand to hand? Any use case for it at all?! None. Oblivion.
Stone structures  - this I kind of understand - there was no reason to build out of anything else, but really... Improve in cost AND make it easier to destroy?

100 levels locked behind discoveries? (1 in 5 discovery right now is bugged to oblivion). 24 disc point per level? Thats a definition of grind and they even can't get internal consensus about it looking at last patch notes.

Fire arrows are still messed up royally.
Bows are fucked to oblivion, the only reason to use them is to use fire arrows - this whole tree can be safely ignored.

Cooking tree is laughable and recipes are in disastrous state. There is no reason at all to work with them.

it's clear why they are doing this , to much fucking clutter that causes lag

Yeah, and now there will be 3x as much wood and thatch clutter.

Than there is this bullshit with discovery zones change (they did change it probably to test, it f*&^ got into the release notes and than hotfixed back).
Fire arrows are still as balanced as hell. Guns are useless as hell... Melee is in so deep hole i don't even see it with spyglass....

Stone building changes without any consequential reasons for half the population (PvE will curse than switch to wood/thatch)...

  9. v15.63

    - Discovery Zones now provide 1 Discovery Point per unlock

    v15.61

    - Discovery Zones now count as 3 Discovery Points instead of 1. Players no longer need to discover all zones to reach max level. Not a retroactive change.

Are you drunk over there or something?!
Send people on a week days off or something cause you are probably dropping from exhaustion if stuff like that is not found out before the roll-out.

  10. Out of pure curiosity

Do you do it, and immediately logout?

I've done it and it worked fine next day - but i stick around for like an hour after I did it on completely different grid server.
Maybe de-synchronization between crashed and rolled back golden ruin server and wherever you were after you logged out?
Just fishing in the dark here 😞

EU and NA should not have to deal with languages that use letters unknown to us.

    I have a proposition:

Make an English test mandatory to join EU server! Best yet, make it available only for those who can speak with posh.

Sure, some people can't communicate with everyone, thats true. But... FFS some germans can't (or don't want to) communicate in english. Does it mean we should ban them too?
Right now we have loud call for asian and russian banning. Next whould be what? Germans call to ban French? Polish calling for own server because they don't want to play with Germans?
    Thank you, no thanks.

So it's about resources, but they'll be removed if I build something or not?

I wonder why someone needs 50 flags or a whole island?

    What reasons does this have?

How many are there of such islands with 50 flags?

Beside, i kind of understand the fought for so many flags - I have "great" neighbor who claimed my favorite (and most efficient) spot for wood and thatch and put 30% tax (thank you very much). Could have claimed it, decided to not do it cause I didn't really need it. After that I've joined the crowed "claim as much as possible".

  13. Getting ramshackle sloop (when you know what you are doing) with bed + storage is half an hour, max 45 minutes, job.
    You do in order:

    1. build pick
    2. build hatchet
    3. build 4 spears
    4. kill birds/monkey/other small stuff for hide for sloop (check wiki for how much you need)
    5. wood + fibers for sloop
    6. buy sloop
    7. get materials and build storage
    8. if you are in danger of running out of food/water, just put all tools into storage and suicide. Ignore food and water for now.
    9. kill stuff for bed hide (check how much stuff you need)
    10. gather wood + thatch for bed
    11. build bed

Alternatively instead of storage you can go for smithy (if you have it unlocked).

For that you need 10 minutes more cause you need to use pick on rocks to get 20 metal.

It takes me an hour for whole remodel of ramschackle sloop, including making smithy, metal tools, loom and medium sail. Had to perfect it for freaking fountain of youth (I hate small speed sails on sloop).  Actually i added tannery few times for gliders and it added like 15 minutes more.

Sailing to next sector is another half an hour, max one hour with extremely idiotic wind.
At that moment you are safe from decay and in risk of animals.

I do not recommend (very strongly NOT recommending) selecting tundra freeport for new players. And strongly recommending changing it to other one if someone accidentally selected it. Its like selecting hard difficulty on survival game which you have no idea how it works.

Yeah, the idea is that claim circles do NOT overlap one another. But the claim sizes grow as you are more active and the other guys aren't.

And then he get back online, start playing regularly and what? Overlap the claims when his start to grow? Like take 3 days break, someone put a claim cause now there is a place and I overlap him the moment i resume regular play?

There seem to be 2 major issues and it´s not so much about contesting in an anchored ship.

    1. Sleeper never go off, we know several places now where players have been off for 2 weeks+, yet you can touch the claim.

     2. Ship decay for anchored ships depending on location if often close to 0. Meaning same said gone people contest claims as sleepers.

     3. Same ships slowly build up and just become more and more. Even rafts that never goes away. Specially if they used docking facilities inside your claim or simply filled up the beach line it becomes messy real fast.

Actually raft can be claimed (after tone of time) and dismantled. Been there, did it. Sloops unfortunately not (even if no sleeper on board).

p.s. - The biggest problem here is actually gold weight. It took us whole in-game day to get from treasure chest to a ship. We had like 1600 gold each and it weigh 640!!! Far beyond our maximum weight we can carry : ))

Small trick - next time you have such big payload - give all to one player, second is running between you and ship 🙂 Works like a charm and makes that way way easier than this slow walk.

Imagine this .... a company leaves a flag neutral ( yellow) so anyone can build their base and shipyard and finally play the game ( although subjected to taxes ofc).

One day , the tenant wakes up and finds out that after we built a pretty good base and ship, the company changed the flag status to red, and all is things are in jeopardy, cause they become subjected to fast decay  and can’t even spawn in his own bed anymore...

Add a rough rl work week , and all you gather and built is lost ....

This is just not fair .... already happened ... to me ...

Huh? I actually did change one of my flags from allow anyone to restrict to company after some nice guys build a taming trap and left it there forever. Structures decay in 3 days, true, but containers decay in 10 (which actually for me is super unfortunate - but I agree in general with mechanism).
Maybe devs "messed" up and you can destroy foundations for containers which destroy containers even if containers themselves are protected? Cause even with whole week you should still have few days to deal with the issue.

Oh pls tell me how a company that has like 500 players should not dominate over 20 man companies  .... And the resource protection yes some people just want to grief and block stuff but most people just want a coastal area to build the house/ships . In the current system peole have spammed islands full of flags in the name of "protecting resources" pls tell me how you are protecting EVERY piece of sand or fiber. Yes if you want you can plant flags that are going in a straight line from the coast to inland or over some special resource but pls tell me again how special every tree/ stone and plant are .

    No problem.

If i need to go through 10 crocs and 5 snakes every time i need to hike to second end of the island to farm wood and stone, i will protect those next to my base.
if an idiot/newbie/jerk build ontop of sugar - i will try to reclaim their base and get those resources back.

  19. 5 minutes ago, JackTheWack said:

Im sorry but did you even read at all what i typed cause the reply you gave shows that you didnt. Im not againt the claim system they just need to limit it somehow for it to work for PVE and i took pvp here to make a comparison for what all these people are whining about "overpopulation" in pve , and as i pointed out its not true at all , pve servers are the least populated ones by like 60% less players then pvp.

Place when I live have 50 people online when i play 😉
You are right, I didn't bother to say about upkeep for above 2 claims per person, because if i wanted more land and i was big company i would just split and make aliance or spilt and add pin coded boxes. Result would be I would have territory I want and tax with some managing would actually be "zero" cause banks would go to shared container.
Hell, I would even talk about splitting my company territory between my members. So sorry, but it would make game harder for those who would want to play the way you envisioned and easier for those who are able to use game systems for their own advantage - so also griefers and jerks.

    Edit:
Actually PvE on EU on time I play in few sectors i saw was around 50-60 usually.

And while I understand that PvP can support more people, on PvE you cannot attack and wipe abandoned/undefended structures quickly
