What is the intended goal of Ships of the Damned? Because after losing 3 schooners and a schloop due to there being absolutely nothing I could do about it. 2 were sunk in drydock, a third anchored in our claim, and gives no description other than that some planks were destroyed, but it was fully repaired when we logged out. The schloop we lost today I moved into a new zone and had 2 ships on me as I zoned in. As far as I can tell, the intended purpose is to cost you players. Its hard enough crafting one, since lawless area damages seem to have gotten a buff. level 1 crocodiles killing me in 4 hits, the gathering buff helps, but only as far as you can more quickly lose all your hard work.

3rd attempt at a schooner. We got it finally built, took it to our landclaim and anchored it. Logged back on 3 hours later to the ship capsized, with no more damage to the planks than we left it at, all pieces are sitting at 3000+ health. Everything looks healthy, just the ship is sunk. Wasnt overweight.

After destroying several planks, the ship seems to stop firing, but wont move out of the area. Its spent hours on the shoreline destroying two drydocked ships slowly.

Ships of the damned are still attacking dry docked ships. Other players can attack the ghost ship and it will attack the nearest docked ship.
