  1. Posts/comments from troll posters specifically design to attract/provoke regular/certain members to have a "confrontation" with them and try to make a situation look in such a way that its not a troll's fault, behaving as a drama queen.

This is very common occurrence in multiple forums, especially in multi-national and in tech forums. Some people talk/brag about their religion/country/caste/gender/social or personal achievements unnecessarily that they are simply irritating members and provoking them for a flame war. In such situation, usually an inexperienced moderator/administrator of a forum who can't see the obvious will warn/ban the person who was provoked by the troll, but its pretty obvious that his/her droll is specifically meant to do that. If the troll is caught, he claims that it is simply a "misunderstanding".

Trolling is adding someone on your watch list so you can comment about everything they say pal!

People are bringing up issues in hopes that the devs will see and fix the game or to see if they are not the only one seeing these issues

Trolling – (verb), as it relates to internet, is the deliberate act, (by a Troll – noun or adjective), of making random unsolicited and/or controversial comments on various internet forums with the intent to provoke an emotional knee jerk reaction from unsuspecting readers to engage in a fight or argument
Trolling on-line forums as described above is actually analogous to the fishing technique of “trolling”, where colorful baits and lures are pulled behind a slow moving boat, often with multiple fishing lines, covering a large bodies of water, such as a large lake or the ocean. The trolling lures attract unsuspecting fish, intriguing them with the way they move through the water, thus enticing these foolish fish to “take the bait”. Not unlike unsuspecting internet victims, once hooked, the fish are reeled in for the catch before they realize they have been duped by the Troll/Fisherman

An online post that is intended to provoke an emotional response or reaction from others.
Guy 1: By saying that religious people are morons in that comment, he is trying to intentionally provoke or offend people.

This troll's trollability is horrible. Can we get a better troll?

So you think none of the constructive criticism in this thread is relevant and have 0 criticism of the game? If so, that exactly being a white knight.

The steam chart statistics clearly show Atlas is losing population and Ark's population hasn't been effected.

I see a bunch of comparisons with ARK.

Everyone cried because they were reusing assets and copying the game.

    Now they didnt and...

I have to agree, sailing is not as fun as it could be.

I tend to start my sailing right after a rain so I can pretty much guarantee that I won't have to deal with cyclones. They really aren't that big a deal, but they can cause you to sink by some secondary thing combined with the cyclones. The only ship I sunk was in low visibility from cyclones and I ran it into rocks in a shallow area. The other way they can sink you is that they make the ship go so slow, a SotD gets you.

I don't see anything fun about the SotD. If they are there to provide some excitement in an otherwise long and boring sailing journey, why not have something that doesn't make you take detours and make the trip even longer than it needs to be? Nothing comes to mind right now though as to what they could have instead. The Flotsam can be interesting to get though.

Ah, how about some magic portals? You could sail your ship into a whirlpool and it pops out into another grid diagonally across the map. This would be a way to fast travel across the map, kind of a shortcut for ships. This would take some of the boredom out of traveling a long ways across the map.

The funnest part of almost any trip is sailing in and around something that might wipe you out. Its pretty easy, just make sure you have a combination of speed and control on your ship.

Its pretty boring just looking at the scenery.

It's supposed to be a game and fun. Except it's not.

Jeez enough with the feet stomping my way or the highway.

Did you read the part about only being out for a month or so?

Part of the problem is a lot of people are avoiding the sailing due to the high numbers of ships of the damned that make general sailing/exploring more hassle than its worth and even straight point to point require a ship designed for combat or speed limiting your ability to get creative with design.

Just last night when going from my island to the one next door I had to dodge 4 red SotD and 2 green all in a narrowing straight between the two. They're too common, too powerful and too aggressive a mechanic and while you can deal with them (speed or combst) it actively discourages sailing in a pirate themed game which is not good.

No SOTD are just fine, went through a couple dozen and if you actually set your ship up correct you just fly by.

And dont start with the I am playing all by myself and its not fair.

    Learn how to play.

Nothing to see here, nothing broken.

Jeez pretend its a pirate game and dont take anything to the ocean you cant afford to lose.

And for the love of god learn some places are harder than others and no one is asking for easy mode except you (and about 12 others).

The age thing is not a bad idea and Star citizen has been working on it for a few years now. The problem is this dev team needs to fix the FoY so its for everyone to get and not just big companies.

Not, what the heck sort of reasoning is that?

Um its a survival game so make it easy to get, good idea...

So what are my options if i'm planning for a multi-day trip somewhere, or am i not allowed to do such trips?

Let's see. Park at freeport for a night? No.

    Park at lawless? No.

Park near some random island full of people i don't know and can't really trust even if the say i can? No.

    So...

    Perfect example...

Do you guys really need to be elitist jerks each time someone mentions solo players?

And yes the devs actually said on livestream they want solo players in their game, so...

As far as I can remember they said MMO how many times as opposed to Massively singleplayer online.  Gets a little old listening to you and your twelve buddies who arent buddies because you all want to play as an introvert.

Funny how everything has to be made simple and tailored down to zero skills as a singleplayer, because none of you can simply figure out that you have to work harder on your own not change the game based on you.

I didn't disagree with that but you're looking at a dev TEAM, not one individual who knows the entire code base.  Changes to one function could have drastic effects across a lot of other parts of the code and it's not as simple as one guy in one department working on one set of code saying... hummm... I just fix that now.

Actually thats exactly how OOP works. :classic_biggrin:

or you want something easier?  Try Unity.

    https://unity3d.com/

Come back in 6 months when you have a working knowledge of C# programming and either of these engines and say that again.

Well providing me with a link to UE and Unity shows me how much you know.  I have most likely written a million lines of code for the Unreal Engine all the way back to UT99. Way before the blueprints were around. Thus I said how easy it was. Also why I called you out for baffling with BS. That apparently has not stopped yet.

Also I provided a solution of sorts, how about you? A MILLION I suppose..
