  1. I would love if you guys could help me out and give tips and pointers. We're about to try our first-ever power stone run against an island we know has a Hydra. What should we bring? We have a few legendary and mythical crossbows and carbines, and are all around level 55 or so. Should we even bother with melee? What should we do?

We number around 4 people, in case anyone needs to know.

  2. So, a lot of people know of the reddit post that was posted a while back, giving ideas to make sailing more interesting: https://www.reddit.com/r/playatlas/comments/bvbdn8/make_sailing_more_intresting_suggestion/

Well, it seems Jat has replied, and revealed that not only are they discussing the idea in-house, but they are also interested in it! We might see some changes for sailing come down the pipeline soon(tm)!

I can't wait to see what they come up with!

The pillars we have put down wouldn't block digging up a map, and  none would stop people from putting stuff to get up slopes. More your problem would be getting up there to find someone had put a house down.

You say that, but I cannot implore you enough to try making some ramps up to mountains in areas you pillar. It'd really help those of us who travel 10-15 squares away to do rare maps.

  4. So, me and my friends went to do a Masterwork map this weekend, for x2. Unfortunately, a company  had pillars placed all around the cliffside, and we couldn't get up to the cliff, where the map was! So this would normally be a GG moment, because the company had pillared, but not even done the courtesy of building a rampwhere they pillared. However, then I remembered something from a patch note a while ago.

They reduced the distance that pillars and foundations blocked others!

So, carefully walking around, I did it... I found a good spot slightly up the cliff for a single pillar! And from that pillar, I was able to build a ramp and we saved our Masterwork Map, walking away with 8 mythical blueprints and 7000 gold! I was so happy!

So, I wanted to give a VERY special thanks to Jat, Dollie, and the dev team for that slight fix. It might not work for the pillaring, but it at least gives people a CHANCE to work around it.

Also, can't include screenshot because upload limit, unfortunately.

I ❤️you man. You are the opposite of typical gamer bile and negativity. Thanks for bringing positive energy to the boards.

     Hahaha, thanks!

The biggest issue with hand harvesting for me wasn't so much how fast I could collect the materials, but more in how often did I have to stop to repair my tools.

Don't forget that the Treasure Hunter Feat from doing a 15 quality map also gives double tool durability.

  6. If anyone hasn't seen the upcoming Mega-Update patchnote changes, there is a new feat, "Double Harvesting" which will double all materials gathered by you. That causes a person with a good, high-level tool blueprint to blow tames out of the water, and with the addition of cargo carts, tame harvesting is going to be an option, not a requirement.

Golden Islands are awesome places for getting xp.. pity you're missing out.

Jump naked off ship, lure the ones you don't want away, kill everything else with carbines, cannons, catapults and balistas.. etc

Bows for the wolves/tigers/lions and gorgons.

Great xp if you're willing to risk walking outside your base.

Just realised this is a necro'd post, but the point still stands even now.  People are damned for not using search.. then damned for doing so. 😉

Is it really that good for XP? What's the return vs doing, say, 15 white-level maps? Said maps could easily get me from 41 to 44 or so in around 15-30 minutes depending on how many you have per island.

1: Do all maps 250+ if you're out.
2: Do green maps 500~+ when you're not out.
3: While sailing, use grappling hooks to pick up floatsam.
4: Do sunken wrecks - 100~ gold and can find 4-5 in an area at times.
5: Go whailing. Whales drop like 900 gold per.

FINALLY someone gives me a detailed, informative list. I got bits and pieces from posts, but it's kinda sad when it's two pages of mostly people telling me I'm bad for owning an island, or telling me I should move in with them.

I only wish I could give you more "Thanks" reactions.

Welcome back Dragon. Good to see your name here on the boards again.  My suggestion is while you are out scrambling to earn the gold needed to pay upkeep, actively market your island. It may be desert, but that doesn’t mean no one will live there, just that it’s less desirable for most players. Figure out what is marketable about your island and use that as your sales pitch. Main point is don’t assume that because passive ownership has garnered you no tenants so far, that you’ll never be able to get any.

Thanks for the welcome back! And thanks for the advice, too. We have cooking herbs, rhinos, and giraffes, so that's what I've been trying to push for the advertisements.

We are 3 players and we hold an 57er island. We are trading a lot + 2 people love to do treasure maps and farm "non-home" ressources. We have upkeep for over a month, just because of teamwork and working company members. All of us have a real life job and we play in the evening.

My company members boats comeback after 3-5 days with a lot of gold and i do mainly trading. It works as long you split your man power and act like a company.

Do you guys do green maps? What boats do you use? Any advice?

Its a PvP server, ofc they will be harrased no matter ots from big or smaller companies. They simply can't have time to farm, build, maintaining the upkeep, do taming, leveking ships, farminf BPs etc. AND doing PvP as a small company.

If they stop insisting on having their own island they will enjoy the game so much more. If thry settle somewhere on a big company island harrassment will probably stop. They will have more time to do things they want instead what they need to do (like majntaining upkeep for instance).

Just give it a go guys before you leave the game before while burned out farming for upkeep. Try a different way to play the game, try to accept that landlord/tenant system because if you do you will enjoy the game much more.

Oh, you're on PvP. ...why are you offering for PvE people to come live on your island if you're on PvP?

  11. Well, thanks Willard, but we feel that people of 5 or so size should have their own territory. Your island does sound tempting but the problem is, we're builders and designers. We don't want to build on an island where all our stuff can be wiped on the whims of an overlord.

  12. Me and my 3 friends just got a decent-sized (35 points) island. I know about the settler system, but since the island is in the desert, no one wants to live there, so we're paying 200g (more tan the average green map per day) and we're having trouble with paying it. Does anyone have any advice? How do you guys get the gold and then get a backlog so you can focus on construction and taming instead of every day being a rush for maps, and then 2-3 hours to sail to do them and get back?

Does anyone have tips or advice on that front?

EDIT: We're on PvE. Thought I mentioned this but it seems I did not.

  13. I live on an island we named Aerie Peaks (WoW Reference) in NA PvE J-13. Easy access to temperate, tundra, and arctic, not to mention it's a High Desert which is pretty nice. The island isn't that bad, pretty big, and we'd love to see some people come and move in with us. We're actually trying to help some newbies to the game, plus the island has Parsley (cooking Herb), Tin, Giraffes, Rhinos, two types of fibers, and more.

If anyone would like to come and live with us, we'd really love to have neighbors!
