I have a quick suggestion, large clams holding large areas seems to be a large point of contention. My suggestion is that an upkeep system is put in place that costs the materials used to build the structures like in rust, and that a structure must be in each claimed zone or it unclaimed after an hour. This will make mass claiming less appealing as you will have to travel to each zone and add upkeep every day so large clans would spend more time keeping up then straight advancment.
