  1. Since the crew vanishing bug I've been knocking around on a cog collecting discoveries and maps, easy enough to do without any crew to loose, with only one sail.

but it has meant going through a lot of zones and my bear has fallen off the boat a half dozen times now, it's not so bad in calm weather, but entering a zone with a storm and cyclones or SoD's nearby makes picking them up hassle that I'm sure is not meant to be a feature in this game.

The last time I was traveling slowly along a transition line looking for it I was wishing the bear could be as secure on deck as the water barrel on the back of my boat, and realised it could be as there already is a way to store creatures in objects, 'tame house', Pegasus module.

So how about a cage, more fitting than a small thatch stable that can hold dozens of huge creatures, 3 sizes would be suitable small 'shoulder pet', medium 'horse or bear', large 'elephant, and make it only hold 1.

I'm not sure if I'm being too realistic for a computer game, and wanting to worry about the logistics of scale when transporting animals, or doing it in a not immersive breaking way, either tame bugging off the boat or cramming a half dozen giraffes into a shed too small for a horse.

Any thoughts or revisions to this idea welcome.

I don't believe they have given up on atlas. The wait is excruciating but I am confident they will be back in action at some point. Let's just hope it is sooner rather than later.

They may not have given up on Atlas but do you believe they are actually working on it?

Do you believe their lack of communication is at all acceptable?

Last Oasis was and is a shit show. Nothing to be worried about there tbh. New World, to early to tell, honeymoon phase hasnt even began with NW yet, we shall see.

The server problems were a shit show, yes! but the game-play looked pretty good. And when it worked, it ran smoother on it's first day than Atlas runs now.

I think they are making a good play. I think they are working on a super-secret massive patch, they want the game to die down and everyone to go play something else for 6 months to a year. then they are going to cash in big with a huge expack size patch that introduces all sorts of community requested changes.

Yet we know the lead designer left, purportedly as his team was taken away to work on Ark.

Jat & Dollie now have 2 job titles, and by all accounts are extremely active with one and completely inactive in there Atlas roles.

I fear your hopes are beyond even a glimmer, which is a damn shame.

Pirates! and EvE have a nearly identical system. Security Levels if implemented like EvE would mean assholes have no safe place because their sec status would be too low for noob friendly areas. Security status only benefits lawful players. Players who chose to play unlawfully (like in EvE) tend to wear a bad sec status like a badge of honor. It would work for everyone.

Except when those not interested in PVP realise they are playing a shopping simulator, get bored and leave.

    No risk no reward stand.

There is a huge difference between fighting high level mobs in challenging conditions or fighting Toxic children for your so called reward.

Please allow us the courtesy not to have to do the later.

  6. i'm a slow player, and I've not finished it yet. I also know the majority of the bugs and how to avoid / get around them. And quite frankly I enjoy it for what it's is at the moment so I'll keep playing until I finish or get bored.

Saying that I won't be touching anything this dev team does in the future, I've lost all trust in them.

I can totally understand this Erik guy, getting brought in to sort out a game they have no idea in what direction to take it, then stripping his team to work on another game. That's just rude.

A challenge only pvp would be ok. So many other games do that now.

That or a "At war" status similar to an alliance, you can invite a company to be PVP and they can accept.

but OP's suggestion of the PVP players get the best stuff is why most dont PVP.

  8. That is true, but I'm not stopping, in hopes that the sheer quantity of negativity might have an impact.

They might also want to point out that it effects their other products, for me at least, having been an avid Ark player before Atlas, I'm not going to touch anything new they produce (Genesis) until I can trust them as a company.

Sorry, I obviously misunderstood. It was never my intention to lecture or offend anyone, I just think people need to remember that the devs are also humans with feelings and most of them probably answer to someone higher up the chain. They go to work and most likely don't get much say in what they work on.

Then they ought to show those people higher up the chain these posts, and point out what grief they are causing.

Think what your workplace would be like if your management told you to ignor 1 customer group in favor of another.

  10. That would be nice,

As a work around, you can use a company map marker. If you open your inventory atlas map you can left click it to get an icon onscreen showing direction and distance.

I have to admit I didn't like the way the roadmap was presented and Grapeshot are at risk of sinking the ship before it sails, but I always knew that was a possibility. Atlas has the potential to be a great game and I will be disappointed if it fails to fulfill that potential, but that doesn't mean I'm going to throw insults at the devs. I don't agree with everything that's happening I just believe that it's important to keep things civil and in perspective.

I was civil, for over a year. Then they abandoned the game to go work on something else. Respect lost.

The october 2019 captains log did state that the team would be stepping away from the forum for a while (in a roundabout way) and game development requires money. Ark is probably their best source of money at the moment so working on that makes sense. I can understand players being frustrated but all the negativity doesn't help. Atlas won't attract new players if the existing players keep complaining about it, we need to be patient and understand that it is a work in progress.

6 months is more than just a while.

And I certainly would detract new players, just to save them the embarisment of having this dev team "working" on a game they play.

  13. The negativity stems from people that like the game, and want to see it progress, but......

From all accounts it seems as all but a skeleton crew is left on Atlas with all the main development people working on Ark's new DLC.

Do a member search on this forum for the dev team, there have been only 1-2 posts for months now. Meanwhile the Twitter feeds of Atlases main communications people have come alive recently with Ark Genesis this and Ark genesis that without a mention of Atlas that I can see.

Even Jat seems to want to distance himself from the game, and posting under a genaric Atlas user name. Iether that or he's been replaced and that person is unwilling to put thier name to this game.

And it's not wasteing time talking to the community, again do a search on here back to this time last year. If you're newish here, you're in for a surprise.

  14. While it would be nice to see more types of ships in Atlas, people will always cookie cutter the same type every time.

Some thing they could do, and it would even be within the skill level of this dev team, if they ever get back to working on this game. Is to have different base values for stats and coresponding increases per level. So you would have differing roles for the same ship type.

  15. At the begining of Atlas, crops were slow to grow and produced very little.

Having a stout shovel and great skill at farming was a great boon if wanted to be self sufficient and not live as a hunter / gatherer.

Nowadays however all you need is the skill to make a crop plot and your crops grow super fast and in great quantities, so very little skill and no effort required.

Ah! The luxuries of the modern era.

The original Ark season pass (at least on steam) only includes the first 3 'old' DLC (scorched earth, aberration, extinction); there's a separate Genesis (new DLC) season pass that will include Genesis part 1 and 2.

Pfft, won't be looking into it then. Atlas and Ark are too similar to play both, even if they have two dev teams working on it, I have too little regard for them any more to try anything new from them.
