You need to press T while the wall is still highlighted blue and before you confirm placement.

I had the same issue. Logged out and back in and everything was back.

Logged in and my raft was gone complete with storage box and all my materials. Also I am unable to gather any new mats, eat any food or drink any water. So I have logged off as the game is totally unplayable for me.
