I cannot tell you how many times I started reloading and lost sight of the person(s) I was fighting against due to having to watch that damn mini-game. So annoying.

Allies do murder people usually so I see the connection.
-
If they admit they know how to do it but won't due to laziness then that's fine with me.
I guess my overall point to this topic is people are going to ally if its there or not. Since its an inevitability why not support it to make our lives easier.
Sort of related to this subject I can't wait for them to allow us to have more categories. It would be cool to have custom categories and colors so we can set rules of engagement.
Example:
Red = KoS
Orange = Return fire only
Yellow = Only treat as hostile in home zone
Blue = Ally
Pink = NAP
Whatever we want to set and define. Would help out. So many companies out there and so many changing names its hard to keep track. I ask nightly if anyone has heard of John Doe's company. Many times its a no never heard of them, but once in a while I am told to sink them ASAP. I think this would help.
-
Are people really that dumb? Have to admit I am amazed at how simple this all is and its being made to sound super complicated.
-
I see why that would be. Again its not going to stop anyone.
Oh hey guys sorry we cannot help you because the game won't let us set you blue and your NPC's might shoot at us. If thats stopping you thats just being lazy. My allies are my allies. Game rules and features will not stop that. I will find a way to help.
Most of our alliance assistance scenarios I hav experienced would be in no way impeded by removing alliances from the game. It would make ZERO difference.
-
I have never done that nor seen any of our alliance members do that. I'm sure its been done, but its not really needed to have an alliance. Minor detail.
-
Seems like a useless gesture to me. People are still going to do it with or without feature support. Why bother even talking about it at that point?
-
The arguments here seem to be under the assumption that if alliances are removed from the game people won't be allies. The content of this game is determined by our decisions. Whether the game has a feature to support that decision or not is irrelevant.

I don't think the devs/support follow the forums all that much. I suggest opening a support ticket. Also if you want to do this i the forums there is a bug section. This is general discussion which tends to be the most active section. Issues like this can easily be overlooked.

Question. Who would you rather communicate with?
1. Person who speaks clearly with a sense of purpose and respect.
2. Person who slings insults and feces mixed in with valid points?
Number 2 (pun intended) is what a lot of people choose to do in the forums. I'd ignore it as well. I post here to help some, but mostly its the entertainment value. The conversations happening in regards to Jat and the testers (player base) are not in these forums as its a hell hole in here like most forums across the internet.

Why can't you take sleeping people off the ship? We've tossed them overboard before because we needed the crew slot.
-
I use them on my build. Large for long range and planking and meds for constant barrages when I get in closer. If you are hitting ships near max range then the captain of that boat isn't worth a crap. Use the wind, time their shots and always remember. The NPC's are firing at where you will be at the end of the cannonballs flight time. Don't be there.

I thought it refunded them? Does it not because I've done that a million times.
-
Yeah I've made over 1,000 gold and gotten good XP from level 1-3 crap in less than an hour of killing soldiers of the damned. I never toss a map. If its on an island with a bunch more I do it.

just my 2 cents but people usualy like fantasy or sci-fi not both in the same game
Same for me. I saw dinosaurs, tech, etc and was like this looks like a 5 year old's fantasy. Wanted something a bit more realistic. Sure the dragons and army of the damned are fantasy, but they are not a core part of the game. I've personally never seen a dragon in game.
That and I've always been fascinated with that era of naval warfare. Master and Commander is one of my favorite movies. I wish they did more like it.

I agree with all comments above me.

I guess I should answer the original question. MY company will be sailing its ships out to suicide at the toughest bases around or the biggest ship battles. If its delayed we will just get more ships. Rinse and repeat until server is down and characters are wiped. Should be fun. None of it will be there tomorrow so make use of all of it.
Maybe I'll sail a company Galleon into battle with 40 tames on it set to aggressive. Sail into someones port and fire away. See what the tames do when the ship does down.

I achieved fun and relaxation. If I achieved anything greater than this then I need to take a serious look at my life.

I honestly do not know how this will truly affect game play so I am waiting to see it for myself.

My group has Ark vets in it so they are used to it.
I've been in IT for 20+ years. They handle it how I like to work. I hate schedules, deadlines, policy. I am a managers worst nightmare and best friend all in one because I get shit done.

There is published research that agrees with you, Boomer.

Not to excuse it, but this crowd’s history of missing their deadlines is so bad that at this point if you let that surprise or significantly upset you, it’s kind of on you. Mild irritation, some degree of ongoing exasperation, maybe even a twisted sort of amusement. Really though it is only the foolish who take any of Grapecard’s dates seriously anymore. Tbh when they first announced this patch as being expected in Feb, my immediate reaction at that point was “probably around st patty’s Day then.”
I'm new to how this dev team runs things and I found very early on that they are pretty loose with updates and time lines. I actually like it. They just get things done and do it when they are ready. They play it loose and fast. I think its neat being apart of this phase of development due to this.
Most of my company is in the twisted sort of amusement stage. We joke about it. Make bets on when that update that is due in 15 minutes will actually happen. Generally just laugh about it.

When this game is "released" I hope they do it again so new players/companies have a better shot at being successful early on.

I did not see the specific details in regards to the new system. Anyone have a link?
Are people saying that outside the 9 hour window the entire grid is like a freeport? Or is it structures and anchored boats are invulnerable and anyone active whether on land or sailing are vulnerable? I am seeing different people saying different things in this thread and others. Makes me feel people do not have all the info and are spouting their interpretations of the new ruleset.
