Exactly, they thhink the have outsmarted the system but the consequences are quite clear, people will stop suporting early access games, in my personal case as much as i am enjoying 7 days to die i didnt pay for it, i will buy it when it releases as a finished product because i like it but i have set myself a red line of not buying anything in early acces anymore, and i have heard friends conversations about doing the same thing. Supporting early access once was being naive (anthem) doing it a second time was a mistake (Atlas) doing it a 3rd time would be being stupid.

Early Access as a concept does have a legitimate purpose. It can allow small independent studios who could not otherwise get their projects funded to have a means to take their idea to the marketplace, raise cash via crowdfunding or other means enough to get something playable off the ground, then use Early Access and player feedback to develop it further. In the hands of major studios and already successful ones like Wildcard, it's a perversion of a system that was working perfectly fine for 20 years.

Maybe i have no issuee with lootboxes and ofcourse i live in the netherlands and they did say lootboxes are illigal so they are going out game. Maybe i played the wrong game. I did not see lootboxes is Openbeta of Ghost recon or in Redleased anno1800. Yeah ubisoft games too are not always polished.  I do think the cloase beta and technical testing and then release. Feels less greedy. Maybe it is only my wrong opinion. Paradox yeah have a lot of dlc , you do not need always to buy all at the same time. I only buy dlc of paradox on sale. if you patience at least it save 50 procent of your money. Company still make reveanue and devolp games.  Overal they are never pushing a game update before the weekend. I had no problem with Xbox release if they did do beter beta testing and not screw  almost  all the servers of the pc player base.

You might personally have no issue with lootboxes but if you understand what they do and how they do it from the companies perspective, it becomes obvious that the company driven by greed and lack of caring for its customers is the one far more likely to use them.

its not reasonable not acceptable to ship a unfinished, badly developer, buggy, lacking of content game selling it as if there was nothing wrong with it, just as is not reasonable to and is actually punishable by law to sell something on the internet advertising it as X and then deliverying Y because you never had X to begin with but you need to eat, selling something by providing missleading information is called fraud.

as you can see there is never a mention of the game being in early access, they mention a road map but never the development stage of the game, we cannot even call this an alpha, 7 days to die is in Alpha stage and it has 500% more technical polish than atlas, satisfactory is in beta and it has 1000% more technical polish, the only reason videogame companies are pulling this type of cash grabs with no legal repercution is because is more expensive to file a lawsuit than to lose 20 bucks.

The problem is that if they put Early access on the page where you buy it once (or wherever), that’s all they have to do to avoid the legal liability you’re talking about. They aren’t  required to inform you every time they talk about it. As far as why companies are doing this, it’s simple, they’ve found a way to turn what used to be a cost center into a profit center. To them it looks like a no brainier, but there is no free lunch. By charging people for a substandard product, Early Access or no, you negativity impact your game’s reputation in the marketplace, which has harder to quantify but definite consequences.

My experience with the wpe are they’re everywhere. Mostly two camps per island. Trying to move around the island on foot near these camps dangerous. Many times I thought I was out of range they would either shoot s rifle or cannon at me. For npc’s they are very alert and good shots. Being single player I think it’s going to be difficult to claim an island or settle on one with their camps and boats.

I think it would have been better to make them more random vs on every claimable island.

Well for the moment they should be everywhere for the sake of testing them. But I can see dialing them back when live.

I think they should have made 2 extra servers for crossplay. That doing on the real XBox release date. So also people have a choice to want to get the playerbase of crossplay. Now we do not have a choice and i think they messed up a huge load of servers/ crossplay server setup and in back end regular network conncitons for PC players is lots more unstable as before. Why not did some more beta testing. Or make use of beta tab and let player role back to there last good working game version? Which was may more stable.

Each game world is a grid of 225 servers all interconnected. Two extra would be an additional 450 servers on top of the 900 the existing 4 grids represent. That’s a very significant cost and available information suggests the Xbox launch may be happening because funds for development costs are running low.

Even if funding were not an issue, existing player populations dictate that if possible new players are added to existing grids rather than create even more grids just to create options. I agree completely that more testing should have been done. The Xbox launch feels rushed and doesn’t feel like the game will have a great chance to succeed in its current form.

    Dear Devs,

Admins pls try to explain me why push an update on Start of the weekend?  Why not as other big company Uplay/Ubisoft Paradox and others. They often push update atleast the lastest day midweek. So they have time to hotfix thing so player could have fun playing the games in the weekend? Prably you prefere people run a way and make room for Xbox players,

Also like for example Paradox use the beta tab option of steamclient game option to rollback gameversions. So people have choice if patch break the game they stail l can play te revert and go to the last good playble verion.

Maybe i am used to game devs/companies they do more care about there customers base and are less greedy to get a piece of The Crossplatform / console playerbase piece of cake and there pocketmoney?

They screwed up a lot of MP server / and i  doubt there was lots of custermerservice/ technical support standby for the server owners? So why push update mandatory start of the weekend?

    Yours sincleery

No offense but please tell me you did not specifically mention Ubisoft as a company you prefer and then later imply they care more about their customers and are less greedy than GC. That’s really just not a credible assertion about any company that uses lootboxes in their games considering loot boxes are considered one of the main ways to increase monetization in gaming, allowing the companies using them to extract more money from their players without adding value to their experience.

Lootboxes have been outright banned in Belgium and the Netherlands because of the way they amount to encouraging addictive gambling behavior and other governments are looking closely at regulatory/legistlative action in this direction.

Bottom line, asserting that any company which uses them is less greedy and/or cares more about their customers than a company which does not is just not a supportable assertion in my book.

well they mentioned it on the live oops sorry nonlive stream, but there was an article on steam about the new road map and it was in there.

*mutters under his breathe about people getting up to tomfoolerly when he's not paying attention.*

I suppose if they're desperate to cut costs, it might be something they're looking at.

  8. Also BAPS, we promise, you're the very first person to propose merging pvp and pve.

    Honest.

It absolutely hasn't already happened several times, usually every couple months like clockwork.

All of the other proposals that weren't made didn't also suffer from having no real benefit to pve players, just a way for pvpers to invade pve.

    This is the first time.

    As far as you know.

PM me to discuss why Calvinball would be the greatest VR game EVAR, and how we can get in on it. I promise it’s much more than me having the idea and you doing all the work.

I would of course write all of the marketing copy.

Before we accuse them of money grabbing, let's please do acknowledge that there are no cash shops or loot boxes. Let's also keep in mind what we paid for the game, vs what it would sell for when it's finished (over a year away still). I challenge you to find a much better deal in video gaming.

I would also differ to GS's own statement about thier financial position when it was released to EA. They stated that they had the cash to finish the game for a winter 2021 launch without the EA revenue. This may be a lie, but then that's me speculating. I will give them the benefit of doubt and trust thier statement.

This does bring us back to Xbox launch. Why? Why wipe and launch now? It truly doesn't make sense to me until more was done.

This is what leads me to suspect that their cash situation may be other than what we were led to believe. It’s either that or they are making what I would regard as very ill advised business decisions.

I do not understand how this game is not appearing in "Game Previews" or "Games Comming soon" on my Xbox one. How can you guys promote a PR with the xbox players if the game is only downloadable on the day it is released. Not one person in this world wants to download 60+ gb game at midnight on October 8th. This is an average of 2+ hours of download time..

I guess my only option is to change my location to NewZealand and download the game 24 hours before the actual release for my NA location since the servers are already up and running..

It’s possible the game might release on the 8th,  but based on GC’s track record to date, I wouldn’t count on it. Since they’ve already said that NA PVP is iterating the Xbox launch version over the 10 day window between, they may be waiting til last minute to release a preload version.

i saw some cats, friend tried test , server setup. That was fun if it is pirates animals i do not now.

I really the compnay is greedy to need to farm also some Xboxplayers pockets. Was there a big request for it from the PC player base they missed there Xbox friends? I doubt it.  So it are money greeday grabbing devs?

To start with, all gaming companies are businesses, and ALL businesses exist to make money. If they do not, they cease to exist. No company, no game. So as a player, you should want the companies that run the games you play to make a profit. Let’s dispense with this underlying assumption most gamers seem to have that making money is bad and always at their expense. Do you work for free? No? Neither do the devs, and I assure you they work plenty. Greed in gaming is when companies seek to make additional profit without adding value to their customers experience.

Loot boxes are greed because they allow companies to hide the cost of additional content which used to be either free or at a straightforward cost in a cash shop behind an RNG that has the side benefit to them of triggering addictive behavior in their customers. If your marketing strategy is the same as your coke dealer, yeah that’s greed.

Do you see any loot boxes in Atlas? No. But you’re not a fan of the move to sell the game to Xbox players. Neither am I at this juncture. However there is a strong possibility it’s necessary. 4 official game worlds, totaling over 900 servers, that monthly bill ain’t cheap. And everyone at Grapeshot needs to eat and pay the rent. The game has fared poorly after its initial launch, meaning the amount of revenue coming in the past 6 months is falling far short of expenses. At some point more money has to come in or the music stops. It would not be unreasonable to infer that the Xbox launch when the game is clearly nowhere near a finished product means that that point has been reached.

If it has not, if this move is not being made from need, its an extremely poor long term business decision because the game has not been improved enough to expect it will do much better on Xbox than it did on pc. But when things go south as quickly as they have for Atlas, it may be the only option they have. None of us knows for sure because we don’t have access to GC’s balance sheets, but with what we do know, these are reasonable guesses.

Wish they would turn off taming more most animals and creatures. This is suppose to be a bloody pirate game. Running around with dragons and giant crabs is to much Ark. They need to stop with that shit.

Yeah there's actually a club here for people who want the pirate game to be more about pirates and less about tames. We would have hats, but well...

thats what happens to console peasants, rise my friend and join the glorious pc master race!! 😂

are you seriousñy crying over 10 days? you were gonna get rekt anyways since pc players are already veterans with high knowledge of the game, believe me when i say that 10 days adventage is the least of you problems.

    *coughs*

You might wanna look at Perci’s post count and join date before you assume he’s an Xbox player new to the game. He’s actually a returning player who was very active during initial launch. Just FYI.

I agree with OP - it’s very, very stupid to give PC players a head start. But also with the dude’s saying it doesn’t matter if Xbox players get a headstart, they can never win against PC players.

So my question is, are there exclusive PvP xbox servers? If not, then there is no way for Xbox players to play PvP, which is a shame.

All the servers are crossplay. They haven’t actually added any servers since you last played.

Are you for real after all i done i need to start all again for the 3 time!

I think is time for call the quit on this game.

    Thank you

Such is the nature of Early Access games. Sometimes they have lots of wipes, sometimes few, but if you are buying them without accepting you may lose what you work for multiple times, then you’re doing yourself a disservice. I’d recommend checking back at official game launch.
