PVE is up but all islands are claimed already lol

And pvp already has 100 people in golden age. The Megas are going to have those platform crabs with cannons in a few more hours probably. I bet the first thing they do is go to the 8 true lawless and start wiping everyone lol

I see one official server when I try to join, PvP.  Is my server list just jacked, or is PvE coming later?  I see no communication about a delay or removal anywhere.

Pretty sure you won’t see any communication at any point.

rust is top ten on steam and you can lose everything while not playing, you may need to rethink that comment.

Rust is also a game where you lose everything every month anyway. Completely different game. Atlas is a failure and almost considered the worst game in all of steam.

funny how both games you can lose everything offline yet one is on of the top games and one is one of the worst games. Hmmmm

    Imagine;

(And this was my first 24 hours on the server I play right now)

-You spawn on a freeport, with 10x harvest

-1 Hour later you allready got some decent levels. With the perks (starterskit for instance) you set sail

-Without lagging you cross the border and find some flotsams, you're like; "Hm, some legendary bps, 400 gold. Hell I even picked up some mythos"

-You find yourself an island, take the gold and claim it. No more restrictions...

-Then you see the mods and start exploring the game

-You build a brig, no not with gold but also slightly modded, and do some flotsams again. Even go out and attack some SOTD

-Then you like: " WUUUUUUTTT?!? I got myself a premade large yard with 316%"

-You tell in globalchat what you found when all of a sudden someone says:" You tried the kit you get with 10K of all mats allready?"

-You rush back to your island, time for some real fun

2 Days later, you can only think of 1 thing.

Why did I kept playing on officials?

I wouldn’t bother with it without offline raid protection though. I like player vs play not player vs base. That alone is enough reason this game is 71 on the bottom 100 list of steam charts.

no game is worth playing when you can lose everything when you aren’t even playing.

all the other stuff sounds good though.

Join us on unofficial then. You might actually like it mate.

Hell since there are way more people on Unofficials I might actually do that. Player counts on official servers are pathetic.

:))))) now you will see one unmanned cannon beside each manned puckle, good job!

      BTW fix the BP drops!

P.n: you made me to make an account on this site after 2 and half year just because I couldn't hold myself to share the laughter, well done!

No, they will not be working on blueprint at anytime in the near future.

I always lived in Lawless Tundra and plan to do so this season. But... well... with new map you gave me just 2 grids for that. With lack of islands I have to seat here and wait for news about wipe and patch release, to be the within the first players who log in. I hope I'll make it in itme (sigh). (the only good thing is - one grid is old fashion western tundra which my heart is belongs to).

Well luckily there aren’t that many people playing anymore but you probably will have at least 100 people racing you for the two little spots. Good luck. If you are pvp a platform crab will go there soon and destroy everything on the island though

They can’t even get the update out. Maybe next year or something

you guys do know that there are player or resource trackers for atlas?

    a google search might help...

    one example:

    https://atlas-world.net/home

Wow that really shows how dead official severs are. So even with 1000 people that really only means about 400 is on official(including PTR) and the other 600 are on unofficial.

and there are more players on pve than both pvp servers combined.

thabks for the website. This will definitely help on showing where resources are exactly and not just total player counts

Announcing an update time before they're ready is not surprising. They don't even take themselves seriously. This game is a circus show. How can you take interest in a game that the devs don't even have faith in. This is just a hot mess. I find it comical and saddening at the same time. Like a clown with a frown.

The really sad part is the patch notes are already done and they said they weren’t releasing those till later either

  9. 7 minutes ago, Motor said:

Banking on this game is bad business. Do they really need to come out and say how incompetent they are for everyone to realize it. Look at their track record. Taking off of work is flat out dumb. The decision to take off work is on whoever made that decision, not the devs. If you didn't see this coming you're blind. My bet is on 4 hours from now, if they don't find any major problems. But, I'm most likely wrong. Likely scenario is they'll post the time of new update in 4 hours.

Yeah I doubt they will even release the patch notes by 7 lol

There is only 3% of the number of active players as when the game launched.  There are currently on average 1900 players per day. There are over 4000 servers (maps).  So the average is .5 players per map........

Actually I went ahead and did the math just to see lol

it is actually only .254 players per server so technically they would have to get rid of 3000 out of the 4000 servers just to have 1 full player on each server.

Not to nit pick but the average is actually only 1018. The 1900 you are looking at isn’t the peak for the day, it is actually the highest peak player count at anytime for the entire month. Just some useless info for you lol

i wonder what the math would be will that? Lol

Just checking, I don't watch numbers for unreleased games personally. They don't count for much IMHO. I know many more people who wont fuck with EA games than like myself who enjoy seeing the process, or lack therefore of. The numbers of players now are not in any way reflective of what it would be with a full release.

By more engaging I meant, there were some improvements that vastly improved the game for solos and small, even though they went properly balanced for the larger groups. I meant, that I found people to pvp with every day. The overall number of megas felt less, and the number of overall small groups felt more. The updates here on the forum were 2-4 a month for the most part. It was absolutely a better direction that the previous seasons every time. Not that there were no setbacks, yeah the gold for ships, the barrels, ect.

God damn them for more tame BS though seriously. WTF

I get you for the most part as far as EA goes but at the same time this company also made ark(let’s not bother arguing this because it isn’t the point). Ark is a perfect example of how EA numbers are a pretty good indicator of success. Through the it’s entirety you would see where decisions they made were bad and also good. One important thing is they were able to maintain a pretty normal playerbase the entire time regardless of highs and lows.

atlas has shown a pretty good indicator of bad decisions throughout. There has been a steady decrease over the past two years. I don’t call the initial influx after the wipe as an increase because shortly after they go back down and further down than before.

the part I agree on is that it is possible that if the game ever releases(not likely or at least not likely anytime soon) we have no clue if suddenly there is a huge amount of people that want to play it purely because it isn’t EA. However, using ark as an example again a lot of people thought numbers would sky rocket the minute release happened. I was there the exact day it did and there wasn’t an increase or decrease.

when there is a short EA period there is a good chance that player counts will increase because of hype generated, but once you get to the point of elongated EA it comes down to the “everyone knows about it and whoever was going to play it has played it” factor. Atlas is in the area in my opinion.

as far as tames go I loved ark and I love the tames in atlas but that is neither here nor there.

So correct me if I'm wrong you can put a platform on a crab and mount cannons and crew on the platform.  So basically you could swim underwater, basically invulnerable, and pop up anywhere you want, fire the cannons and duck back under that water.  You could theoretically approach any blind  spot that way and be completely invulnerable to surface attacks.

Yeah pretty much. Your ship is gone bro and the update hasn’t even started yet lol

theu just made it to where being on land is even more important now lol

    Source?

I don't know the exact numbers. I will say, every season so far has been more engaging and well thought out than the previous ones. That being said, I am super suspect about this one. Those towers better have been nerfed. Ideally there are no claimable islands anymore. Or else what was the fucking point of towers?

What source? Steam charts? Yeah the info is all there. Numbers have been slowly but consistently lowering. Last wipe the initial was 2100 and only got up to 2900 so even if(which it won’t) just as many people came back it would be within the range I said. It’s a very well educated guess and anyone that disagrees is simply wrong unless they have more evidence that numbers would go above it.

people didn’t just leave because the wipe was coming. They were leaving for 3 months before hand.

I definitely disagree every season is more engaging, unless of course you mean more land based gameplay then sure.

these guys really haven’t been doing a good job at all. Hooray for ark imported platform saddles. That is going to make raiding a lot easier especially for the bigger groups.

I know the wipe is done because of programing. But I would love to see you guys wipe every season makes the game fun and completive. I came over from ark and love the farms and warehouses. But the other thing I really like is the wipe after every season would be a great step to help grow the game. Did know if you talked to the developer's and see if they will keep that up for this game?

What? You realize after every wipe only a fraction of the people that left come back right? And besides that, the initial influx every wipe has gotten smaller and smaller. There is a definite east to see trend going on. Probably won’t get above 2500-3000 players after the wipe and it will go down to below 1k this time.

they are wiping because of programming, they are wiping because they are making another new map that nobody asked for. Just like the first time they changed it and nobody asked for it. The only content they are really making is a platform saddle that is imported from ark. They didn’t really put in any hard work at all.

I agree with a lot of the feedback here but the delivery detracts from it's effectiveness.  The name calling, gaslighting, and outright disrespect is probably going to make that feedback go nowhere.

To be honest they weren’t going to do any of it from the beginning. We have 2 years of nothing as proof. The tome to coddle is done. They need a reality check after two years.

    Greetings Pathfinder Nutty Grandad!

We, at GrapeShot Games, would like to assure you that we do our best to listen to our players feedback but we have a roadmap and vision for this game.  If Henry Ford had listened to feedback from his customers, we would have a faster horse drawn carriage, instead of cars.  We like to think of ourselves like visionaries and creators of a new world, like our inspiration Christopher Colombus and other bold adventurers!  We want to bring our players a magical pirate experience!

We would also like to remind all players that this game is still in development!  That means that there will be lots of learning experiences for our team while we try our best to deliver you new content all the time!

Are you retarded? Henry Ford made a quality product. You have turned the car into the horse drawn carriage and now there is horse crap all over the place.

Devs: We'd really like to focus on ship-to-ship combat and sailing while getting away from tames.

Also Devs: All ships cost 20k gold so you are too afraid to go sailing and also here's some more tames and platform saddles. Enjoy.

That well never happen. Time to get used to more tames and more land combat. Forget about your ships, this is ark after all.

Oh that 1k takes into account eu and pve as well as unofficial? Well.

    Idk. Wipes gonna be interesting

    Yeah the 1k is na pvp/eu pvp/pve/Unofficial

but yeah you will see numbers go up but very quickly go down. Atlas is also getting old so it will be like Conan really soon. It didn’t just fail it also got old and boring.

I am hoping Microsoft QA stops them from the 28th release. If it can go till the 1st the 1k will forever be written in stone lol

  20. 22 minutes ago, Jimboscuzbuckler said:

Oh but maybe you did do all that and did find a company and it even whent well for awhile....now its mostly inactive players..your leaders are useless and half inactive..no one talks on discord they have no plans for land or working together and they are spread out over the map and they just dont communicate at all and have no goal...now all the stuff is the companys -_-.

for this i have no good advice :[

Yeah I get you but with a few Megas at a couple hundred that is already half the playerbase. The rest are on pve and Unofficials. That 1k players is spread throughout all 3 clusters as well as unofficials(not sure if you knew that or not). So even if it went to 3k people that would still be at most 800 per cluster plus Unofficials and I think Unofficials are actually more popular now.

  21. 3 hours ago, Jimboscuzbuckler said:

so about the player numbers. to be fair do you really think this game could ever have mass appeal? (without making it carebear kid mode)

they would have to put in the ability to buy power so that bads could just throw money at it instead of developing some social skills or just becoming knowledgeable. even then it still probably wouldnt have mainstream appeal. right? im sure the player counts will jump up but it's not like they're going to be smashing the charts, and i hope they never view having a low or a high player count as ultimate success because they may start making odd decisions like having stupid sea of thieves esque gun skins or just absurdly stupid looking flavor skins for sale. imagine them selling wow like microtransactions on full release. fully leveled tames or blueprints...gold...(shudder). i dont think that would even help player counts tbh it would destroy the loyalists. but you get the idea. the game is too time consuming; social, and complicated for most gamers to enjoy imo. think about that..this game take cooperation with more than 3 other people over long periods of time to become powerful. people have meltdowns on overwatch or dota or league on a team of 5 in matches that last a few minutes. theirs a reason this niche game has a low player count because most gamers are scrubs X _ X

I doubt this game will ever have a "high" player count. Here's hoping tho

(dont even bring up ark. those people think dinosaurs are cool)  :{}. . .

Yeah but to be honest this low of a player count is pretty pathetic. I have a feeling this update will rank and even though there is an initial influx it will go down faster than before.

if you check steam charts every single time there is a wipe you get an influx and then it goes down again. The important thing to notice is that every wipe the influx is always only a fraction. That is why numbers continue to go down regardless of a wipe. I mean they did fail pretty badly

1 hour ago, Gemini Five said:

This game lacks mass appeal for many reasons. Like locked in perma early release where they are not working out final bug, rather still trying to figure out a direction or how this should work (like the claim system). Like all your efforts can get wiped at anytime, yet again, Like you can get off-lined if on pvp. Like your client might crash sailing from grid to grid. Like you might take 8 seconds to rez the next grid or 45 seconds in the middle of a SOD fleet and loose your ship. Like taking a vacation for two weeks may mean you loose everything you have. Like something your client crashes and for mystery reasons you can't log on for two days. Like the servers run good one day and you have crushing lag the next. Like a dev team that puts hats on bears or pushes untested features to live. And yes, the time sink. And yes, the people who endlessly want to insult non-pvpers in a game that most pvpers say the game is busted at every turn.  As the top Atlas pvp streamer said on stream last week "nothing in this game works like it should" .

This game has a lot of issue and reasons why it lacks mass appeal. I don't ever expect that to change with this company. We are left with the simple... can I enjoy a little time here or not.

Yeah these guys simply don’t fix bugs. Even when they did release ark officially they still didn’t fix the bugs before hand lol

Yes, I totally agree here. We probably get the message it's being delayed and how sorry they are.

And you're correct, it will be, as always, on non EU times. One of the reasons officials are a nogo for me.

Sidenote; GS/WC/Snail will not give 1 single poo about this, you shouldnt either mate. Leave officials and never come back. Let them be egocentric, that's what this current world has become. I'm having a blast on unofficials. Good communities, great serverowners and no, I REPEAT, no bullpoo each and every day.

Yeah because now with crossplay it’s all about getting it to pass Microsoft QA and these guys aren’t good at their job so...

Well boys, the game is dying, lets slap in some Ark Saddles, that will fix things.  What happened to taking the focus off using tames for pvp?

No one  is using the horrible modular ships, stop releasing more broken bits to a system nobody uses, Its just frustrating for the player base, like you have 2 completely different ship concepts implemented in the same game. And you're telling players you want to phase out the old working system, for the new clunky, slow, buggy, limited customization ship system.  How about finish more than 2 prebuilt ships, and finish the modular customization before muddying the waters.  I gets its alpha but jesus some of us actually want to play the game too, not just be test dummy's year after year as you throw everything but the kitchen sink at the wall to see what sticks.

Trade winds,  NICE> about time part of the original road map got implemented, that only took what? 2 years?

Tames will always be the biggest thing about atlas. I am surprised people fell for that. Everyone should have seen right through that. You thought ships were important? Nope. Only tames.
