  1. Always funny how in these online survival games suddenly superheroes appear out of nowhere, slaying all bosses solo blindfolded and onehanded with a stick.... while us minor mortals fight with green pistols against Cobras.

    No sorry, what you describe is impossible. Solos and small groups are locked out of content like submarines, trenches and sea horses.

    As there is no content in the pipeline at the moment as it seems ? We are maybe ALL locked out of ATLAS soon.

    Your wood (e.g. Agedwood) for ANY wood

    Your Thatch for ANY Thatch and so on.

    As soon as you have received a different wood, thatch etc. :

    Reveived Wood for ANY wood

    Received thatch for ANY thatch .. and so on.

    By this you create an eternal circle of resources, as you will get your own agedwood back ...and send it out again 🙂

    How do I obtain those squid tentacles playing solo? Lets check some numbers.

     

    Buying 75 tentacles from players.

    - Current PVE Official price for those 75 tentacles is 50 000 gold. My market with 8 active routes since Jan-16 produced me 21 000 gold. So... should I stay inland for 3.5 months, and wait until my market generate enough gold? Or you said you wanna us to go to the ocean? (and don't forget that most of player don't set their trading routes due to huge warehouse limit radius).

    - Average purple bottle brings 1000 golds (most of them are lvl-8-10 or so, it's 700-800 golds and some can be up to lvl-20 but these are rare, I've got lvl20 twice this season) so you wanna us to ride a Schooner for couple of months and do all that digging, for more than 70 high level bottles??? (it's more because 20% of those maps leads to inaccessible spawn points). 

     

    Trying to hunt squids solo with NO submarine.

    So... there are some ways I guess, but again. Let me get straight. Squids are in trenches. So we need to dive there. Squids are REALLY RARE!!! I spent 2 days diving in different trenches. 2 times in G7, three times in G5 and once in I3. And in those couple of days I met just 3 squids and around 20 ppl who do their hunt for them as well.  

    Some say - squids are hiding between trench and ocean depths, and all you need to do is to dive and when trench lights up, watch up. But I didn't meet a single squid there. And even more. They are invisible with no healthbar outside the trench. 

    - Diving as is with spear gun is pointless. You soon be facing eels. They'll kill you and you'll spend next 15 minutes trying to kite eels from your corpse, in order to bring your stuff back. There is a huge chance you wont and sail back to base naked.

    - Diving suit is useless too, due to small radius from ship. You need to explore whole trench, not just small area around the boat.

    - Tortugar is useless due to lack of stamina that not regains in swimming state.

    - The only option you have left is dolphin (and possible seahorse).

     

    Dolphin.

    - They are actually really easy to capture. You need skill in beastmastery for underwater taming. You need all in oxygen skill and all in swimming speed. Also you need a spear gun. You dive, watching shark come to you. Kill it with spear gun. Gather primal fish meat. Then you dive to where it turns dark and search dolphin there. While in surface dolphins are swimming from you, in dark depths they will swim close to you and try to stay this way. Just hold still, watch your oxygen and tame.

    - Trenches are cool. Trenches are beautiful. You'll get a lot of discoveries swimming near bottom and around trench structures. There are cold down there (from -5 to -20) so you'll need to swim to the surface to regain health. I have 50 fortitude, rejuvenation lvl-2, equilibrium buff and 1 skill in water temperature resistance. This is not enough to not experience freezing. You drive dolphin with "shift" watch your oxygen and health and have some fun.

    - And yeah, when you riding a dolphin - you not attacked by most of underwater creatures, unless you swim too close to them. Dolphin dramatically reduces aggro radius.

    Unfortunately dolphins are NOT for squids killing. Lvl-1 dolphin do 15 damage per hit. Lvl-15 do like 23 damage. Lvl-15 Squid has 1 000 hp, and kills your dolphin fast.

    Common Spear Gun has 138 damage. I couldn't shoot from dolphin back, because this way spear gun damage a dolphin. I had to jump of dolphin and shoot. Squids are really fast. The best I could is to hit squid 3 times before he get melee. In melee squid grabs you and kills you in 2 hits. So... I guess if you lucky enough to get good 150%+ damage spear launcher and meet a single lvl-1 squid, you'll be success. Otherwise - you dead, and squid won't allow you to gather your stuff back.

    Oh, and don't forget - there are a lot of ppl do their hunt. So. If you spot squid and didn't kill it the very moment you spotted one - then some1 else will do that. 

    And after you done - release dolphin to the wild. He won't follow your boat anyway.

     

    Seahorse.

    I didn't try this one. If I can tame one with sea grapes or seaweed, I'll probably give it a try. But I doubt it will be able to land 1 000 damage to squid and don't die in melee combat.

     

    Submarine.

    So far the best way to search and fight squids is submarine. So... cool question here is - how do I complete "Voyage of power" solo? Is there a way? Using exploits maybe? That's what devs are wanna from us? Anyway. I saw guy easily killed 2 squids at once with a single submarine.

     

    And... grinding.

    In 2 days I've met just 3 squids. They are really rare and each trenches I explored, I met from 3 to 5 guys at once, do the same. Do their diving around and searching squids. 

    Guys said each squid gives you 5-8 tentacles, so you need 10-15 to be killed. It's around couple of weeks exploring depths of trenches with submarine.

    - You just spending hours and weeks diving around and do nothing.

    - Or few months riding a dolphins, and searching for lvl-1 squids.

    - Or you spend a month sailing through empty ocean, farming bottles.

    - Or you spend 3.5 month in your base, waiting for trading route generate enough gold.

    All ways are so long and boring!!! You, Grape Guys, really meant that???

     

    I only wanna say to DEVS - this Majestic Kraken should be really cool. And I mean it. REALLY COOL and WORTH all efforts you made players to put in to obtaining one. Because if it is same useless, glitchy as Ramming Galley, then... it wont be just mockery of players. It will be a bullying of players. Evil taunting the players. The best way to make players sad and unhappy I've ever seen.

    p.s. - You try to check some statistic numbers, related to Ramming Galley and Majestic Kraken. You'll notice that there are so few ppl bought those (it's possible that there is actually NO ONE bought Kraken yet. Or it less than 10 ppl whole officials. You don't wanna release some stuff you put so many efforts in to, for just 10 players, don't you?

    Right to the point.

    Unfortunately the devs just HATE small groups and solos with every part of their hearts.

    They just love huge megatribes and YouTubers.

    Message to the self-proclaimed solo superheroes in mythical armor and with mythical carbine, who solo one-handed Hydra, Kraken and God : It is NOT possible ! The average solo can never have gear above blue.

    So no sub and no squid for you, Mr. Solo 🙂

    And no Kraken ship.

     

    P.S. Thanks for the dolphin hint. I did not manage to tame one in diving suit close to the surface. Dont know if i want to gimp my spec just to tame something that is useless

  5. As the title says, i think that there is a maximum of trade routes that a market can have (8?), if i delete a request or an established route the market still gives the message „maximum trade routes reached for that market“ ?

    Destroying the market and placing a new one will certainly work, but are there cheaper solutions ?

  6. Hmm..do you live in a parallel universe or are we not playing on the same official PVP server ?

    armored docks : Yes, thats a nice addition. These are only destroyed if you really piss off some megatribe as it costs time and efforts to destroy them. Unfortunately we dont have "armored bases" and thus we have to use a ship as base at the moment

    BECAUSE

    manned turrets are trash. Easily outranged by any shabby horse cart cannon+1 naked noob to fire them. Even if they fix that you still can take out ANY land base easily with a mortar. You can believe me, i had several clever placed superfortresses with several hundred overlapping turrets of different kind : Not even 5 minutes for a raider group.

    warehouses : nice for gold income but pure cannon fodder to passing sloops with 1 noob+1 cannon at the moment. Or 1 noob+1 cannon + 1 wooden foundation if they have no ship. Not worth it if they dont allow warehouse placement everywhere/give more HP/give defence

    farmhouses : destroy a part of the game. They act like tthe central banks : Print free money for everyone ! It is a pitty that the stone age people could not do this : Just print food instead of hunting/farming for it. Would have prevented the hunger in the world !

     


  7. The reason for me to play the game is the free design of ships.

    My building brain power against the teen boy troll builing power..the result is obvious.

    Yes, i own an armored schooner, why not ? it is far from invincible, but still much stronger than the vanilla.

    I wont play Atlas with prefab ships, sounds very boring to me.

    Considering the new Kraken ship you see the direction of the game : 75 dried squids and a ton of gold : Devs are driving small groups and solo players away from the game


  8. I tried with defence towers. Unfortunately they are outranged by player cannons, thus they are a complete waste, players take them out without efforts.

    Yes, i just replace the destroyed warehouse. But it is stupid, i would prefer either beeing able to defend it or more HP for the warehouse. Or destruction of the loot when it is shot down.


  9. I try to explain it in very easy words.

    a) you build warehouse and market

    b) you place large stone gates around

    c) some noob with 1 sloop and 1 cannon passes by

    d) noob shoots down the large stone gate and the warehouse

    e) game over, there in NOTHING you can do to prevent that.

     

    Solution : More HP to warehouses... MUCH more HP (like the market)


  10. Well, at the moment i just secure the gold from my warehouse once a day. I no longer travel out to explore other islands and get different wood from there for better equipment.

    I dont farm ressources as my farmhouses do that for me.

    I not even dig for treasury, as it is easier just to use trade to build up a gold stock.

    The last once stuff remaining is building custom ships with intelligent armor\cannon design to smoke all these easy-play teen boys.

    Now it seems this last fun factor is taken away with the „new ship system“.

    The only good new stuff are the armored docks, the ships inside are my bases.

    See the point ? Land bases are a joke in PVP, my superfortresses did not even last 5 minutes versus small raiding teams.
    -NPC turrets are outranged, not only by mortars but also regular cannons

    - stone hp is a joke

    - They introduced automated resource gatherers. So no more bears, giraffes, rhinos and elephants for needed for that. No more global sailing for tames.

    - And now they introduced automated way to gather resources around the world, and also gold generator, so no more need to sail anywhere for different resources and gold at all.

    Basically they told they wanna us to go to the ocean and made everything so we don't need to go there.

    I really do hope this all part of some bigger plan and everything will be revealed in nearest future. But right now all seems very wrong to me.

    Fully true to the point bro.

    I just play 20 minutes a day to clear warehouse and farms.

    Sad.

    the idea is nice, but it is super annoying to tame them.

    The dolphins are way to fast to chase, even with max swimming speed skill. When you are close enough to press „e“ to feed it is nearly impossible due to the server lag (you press „e“ but nothing happens). Furthermore the dolphins swim away, after a while.

    It is impossible to tame the dolphins without the diving equipment as the sharks are looking for you without.

    Please make this easier !


  13. PVE is for balless weaklings, but Chucksteaks suggestion works well on PVP.

    My warehouse provides about 5000 gold/day, you also can stock up with hoarding/treasure hunting grey maps. I do between 5000-10.000 Gold per load of hoarded maps.

    Schooner is 5.000 gold, armored dock 10.000, you will need both.


  14. Basically a like the dolphin idea, they are just great in ARK... at least until Jeremy Stieglitz turned that game into a megatribe LOLstomping Muhahaha Eldorado.

    Lets see how we are supposed tho protect our dolphins from these chinese 3000 player clanlords 🙂

    For ships the armored docks work quite well, they are far from undestructable, but all of these "teenage fun society millennials" dont want to invest any work into anything.. thats good !


  15. How many Kraken do i have to defeat solo beeing able to tame Dolphins ?

    How to protect my Dolphins ? A Stone Pen at the beach will certainly not stop the LOLstomping muhahahah authistic teenage boys ?

    Can we get an "Armored Dolphin Pen" maybe, so that these teenage authistic boys need at least some efforts to destroy other peoples work ?

  17. Well, i agree, PVP is the way to go, competition made mankind great (again).

    Your bases are still fodder for every teenage muhahaha troll kiddie passing by, as the HP of stone is a joke and player mortars/cannons outrange your NPC defence turrets.

    BUT as we now have armored docks you can live in safety on a boat that you park in the dock. You will have a tough time collecting the 10.000 gold for the dock plus the 5.000 for the schooner but then you have a secure mobile base as also your tames and sailors are safe inside the dock.

    It is still PVP, as soon as you leave the dock you are „outside in the jungle where everyone trys to eat you“.

    This transforms Atlas from a muhahaha lolstomping playground for teenage mega clan leaders to a decent PVP game.
