  1. I am reading guides and trying to figure out if it is actually possible to setup a 2x2 that is an exact copy of the official map of that same section. For example, I would like to make an unofficial map based on the live server's M7,L7,M6 and L6 sectors. This would give me the starter zone and three other zones. The only change I want to make is for the Lawless zones to be standard zones (i.e. can claim on them). Is this possible? The reason I want to do it this way is that I would like to be able to expand the map at a later point and use the actual adjacent/official sectors to mirror more parts of the official game map. I keep seeing guides based around templates, so I am not sure if you HAVE to use a template or if you can just point to sections of the official map?
  2. Evidently other players can sink your ships on PVE by either overloading with weight or going over the ship's crew stat. I thought that the crew limit just restricted NPC crew count? Either way this should not be a thing on PVE as this exploit is allowing players to sink other player's ships. Should be patched so that going over weight just slows or stops movement, not sink the vessel. Also, if you have workstations on your ship these can make it more convenient to overload the vessel since they can just load them up with stone (like a smithy). To fix this we should be able to put pin codes on any structure that has an inventory.
  3. Not just in freeport zones tho, as I lost a raft in a regular zone due to this. Weight should not sink on PVE, but just slow or stop ship movement just like when you become over encumbered.
  4. Thank you very much for that, I will check it out!
  5. @TEACH Not to derail your topic, but you seem quite knowledgeable on how to configure these servers. I am looking to make a dedicated LAN server that exactly mirrors a small section of the official map without changing the layout or sector type. For example is it possible to select a 4x4 section of the official map to host (split between 4 server sessions) so that the section is identical to anyone playing on the same section on official? What I have seen in the unofficial setup instructions involve template files or dragging islands, so not sure if this is even possible. Basically I was hoping to either add or remove individual sectors if we ever wanted to venture to other parts of the "official" map without overloading my server. Thanks, BD
  6. The "LAN" option in ARK wasn't a real solution either, as I was unable to transfer myself at obelisks to my other LAN cluster nodes since the obelisk server transfer menu did not have a "LAN" option lol. Fundamentally this is a limitation with the game itself, and how it searches for/locates servers.
  7. I had this same issue in ARK, until they added the "LAN" option to the client when looking for a server, then BAM my LAN server showed up just fine to me. I did port forward so my buddies could connect from across the internet. I was afraid this was going to be an issue with Atlas, since I did not see the "LAN" option in the client server connection options.
  8. Actually I think this will make navigation with landmarks worse, as you will think you have sailed back to the same island you just left. This actually happened in one of the streams I watched earlier today.
