Some people were leveling ships by luring AotD on powerstone islands to the coast and getting thier ships crew to shoot them with crew mountable guns.

So instead of nerfing XP gained by ships from AotD they made AotD immune to lots of types of damage.:classic_wacko:

Oh dear. Yep I remember that, hilarious nerf/troll from the devs. Whoever made that nerf was not being a nice person.

Although I understand and agree with your comment on puckle guns, I actually don't know what you are talking about here. I have been playing since late January, but can't recall,  what did they nerf on gliders and guns? Those two things are my staples.

Guns were buffed afaik? Maybe they were decent at some time, I'm 99.9% sure guns always sucked, and still do relatively compared to other weapons.

They nerfed gliders so that you cant fly very far, as you cannot gain altitude or speed with the dive bomb. Massive nerf to the fun one could have with gliders.

I think that all depends on the quality of pc and internet, I used to lag so bad the only things I could kill had to be stationary. Mind you I don't fancy playing on low graphics mode on xbox though.

    Huh?

Yeah, we all have pcs and internet that is worse than low graphics mode on xbox using a string and cup.

    Haha!

I am sure the console players still want everyone to start at the starting line. There are always going to be faster runners, why let the faster runners start 100 yards ahead of everyone else?

seems like a crappy race to watch.

a level playing field doesn’t mean a fair fight. A level playing field means everyone starting at the same time.

Wow. By faster you mean better, right? 😉

  5. NPCs actually have worse range and reload on cannons, compared to people. It's an issue in pvp, shoreline defences with NPCS not only get out stat'd by ships, they get out ranged by people. Also, these days I find their aim has less hax. I do remember those days of large cannons on deck and NPCs autoaim at render distance through the fog, but can't remember the last time I saw that happen recently.

I play solo, but not really by choice as the only other 4 people I played with are not able to play anymore (real life things, new jobs, babies, etc) if you took away my NPCS i would cry.

edit: If my crewmembers did join me on a ship, I would make an NPC walk the plank, and I do see why people say they want NPCs to not have the ability to do everything. At the same time, I really love that NPCs can do everything and do what they're told.

Also, fog and waterspouts are cool, I live in tundra and the fog is always fun. However, I just wish the waterspouts didn't auto aim, and the fog was less blinding at times (fog is an issue from ark and it's sort of better in Atlas but there is still times that you get blinded)

I felt the same, I was hyped up for the stream then felt let down yet again, I suppose I should have saw it coming really.

When they said roadmap, I thought they were going to lay out a more detailed roadmap at least. What they presented was just rough ideas of what they want to do which tells me they have no clue on where to take the game.

Their mistake was basing the game around Ark, it should never have been like this and should have been standalone. I heard somewhere it was supposed to be a DLC for Ark originally and they changed direction to add ships and things to make it separate but still same principles of Ark.

You just can't help feeling if the game was designed by a top MMO team it would probably be totally different and heading in the right direction.

I hope it ends up like no man sky and they turn things around but even then it's going to take a few years yet to get anywhere near it. I won't be back until more things have been implemented but I will be very interested to know just how the release of xbox goes and how many cross platform players stay around after the wipe.

It wasn't their mistake to make an asset flip of ark, the game was designed by artists and animators however, its always just going to struggle to be anything but a doll house where you're playing around with dollies, actual game play mechanics are just swapped in and out willy nilly with no thought into how they work, vaguely planned and pitched as hype to their customers....

however at least now they have been honest and i am pretty sure that honesty comes by the hand of the new lead designer, however honesty hurts sometimes and they are 100% responsible for that so i am kinda happy that now i can let go instead of being there sitting eternally waiting for an answer that would have never come otherwise

    Um.

    Lol. How heartwarming.

Didn't you uninstall the game after you got banned from discord and ragequit etc?

Yes I'm old too, 52. But most of all I've been managing my own business for over 24 years now and I'm flabbergasted that this kind of thread needs to exist. Why the hell we - as your customers need to teach and explain to you how to do your job and how not to piss off your customers? We need to tell you that we like to know that you read our posts on your official forums and hear out our problems? Really? We need to tell you that you should react somehow - even only by emoticon or post that says "I've noted this"? Really? We need to tell you that when your March update turns into May update or beyond that you need to inform your customers about that swiftly and not just hide and be silent and hope that no one notices? Really?
You've done piss poor job communicating with your customers, in fact if I would have as incompetent personnel as you appear to be I would fire their ass so hard and fast that they would not find it even with a telescope.

They just ignore/completely miss the point on purpose, and don't actually apologise, then they just 'recognise' stuff, stuff that is completely obvious, stuff that has been there for months, stuff that they've already 'recognised', but avoid the point on purpose.

In an environment of chaos, it is easier for things to fall through the cracks.

That is why the community interaction is so disjointed, the company direction is this way on purpose.

The forums is the first place we go for our most "official/important" communication.

Except when its off work hours or something and you gotta run to "YOUR PEOPLE".

Will forum users welcome a "gotcha"  or a like as a response or find it insulting? I'm open to adapting.

I think you know what people find insulting. And it's not that. I think forum users will welcome a "gotcha", there is no reason why not. I think forum users will also welcome more than a "gotcha", again, why not. Is that really the reason why you can't even comment that you've read something, due to being scared that people will think you are ignoring them? Convenient.

  10. Thank you for that Dollie, but i'm sitting here for 10 minutes trying to not type that your post doesn't really change much or anything of what I thought I already knew.

Ok, so the voice chat was on the official discord. There was a need to goto discord, and this discord voice chat improved the quality of a post that was addressing the concerns that lead to the voice chat. There was a need for the post.

I can't disagree with anything you're saying, and I think that might be because one of us is missing the point.

What does that even mean? Like the whole statement contradicts itself.

If you only listen to people who bought the game, then you dont listen to people who havent bought the game.
If you only listen to people who own the game, then you dont listen to people who bought the game ^, and refunded it for all of the legitimate reasons it was massively refunded.
If you only listen to the people who play the game, then you are only listening to approx. 1,500 people out of between 1,000,000-2,000,000(according to SteamSpy's approx copies sold/owned) who purchased it(most of them refunded it).
    -And-
if you only only listen to people who support the game, well thats even less than the 1,500 that still play.

I know, thinking is hard in 2019.

Almost everyone who has bought the game, or owned the game, doesnt play the game or support it because it's just bad. And have reviewed and explained why. Are you suggesting that the New Lead Dev instead only listen and pander to the handful of holdouts that still think this is the greatest thing since forever?

Cuz that didnt work out for Dawn of War III, or Bless Online, etc.

To use discretion, to behave in a way that takes into account many things....................................

Listening to people that don't play the game, and bowing to the whims of people who have no idea due to the fact they don't actually play the game, are two seperate things.

  12. There is no question that I enjoy the game. Any negativity that you may perceive, can also been seen as positivity.

Instead of a "happy time" i just wish for a "balanced time".

You can't have the happy without the sad.

If people are sad, use that as an opportunity to make them happy.

Why the "Devs" don't go out and ask a real Gamedeveloper what is more important: bring out a console-release for a quick cashgrab or fix the entire game in its state to make current player happy, veteran players come back, new players join in and then, when the game is standing strong, go over to the next step?

Why the hell get we served the dumbest of the dumbest idiodevs, who think it's better to do it across every logically way? Didn't you learned anything before you get to GS?!

Because they have had a golden goose. Over the years, people have pleaded with wildcard to pleaseeeeee give the game to more experienced, capable developers. The game concept is great, execution never really ever managed to live up to that ever-elusive *potential*.

To beat a dead horse / try to stop this talk about "ohh you guys are complaining about the wipe lol etc"

    - go have a look at the 'golden age of piracy' captains log, the devs try to give us the message that they are working on changes to the game to make it the 'dream pirate game'.

    - notice that for the past 4 months or something, there has been no significant progress on these goals that they have stated, there is no actual roadmap or solid gameplay mechanics implemented/worked out/even discussed with us that much really.........................

    - the devs seem to be very distant for months

    - the devs announce that there is a "livestream" that will contain a roadmap for stuff that was in that old ass captains log from ages ago

    - then the "livestream" is actually just a shitty video where the devs say that there is no roadmap

    - surprise surprise the devs have been working on xbox version for the last 4 months

    - to go around in circles, the devs try to give us the message that they are working on changes to the game to make it the 'dream pirate game', after xbox $$$$

p.s. love you devs thanks for the great games, just...... can you ...... make it better? 🙂

Do you know the Hamilton Beeches line?

Lol, no. But I just tried to find out what that is, and interestingly it was very difficult to find info on this initially, and I still don't know. Apparently, that is a brand of mixers? Audiences watching the movie yelled that line out at some point for some reason?

I didn't go see the movie at the movies, I'm not that cool.

  15. I have a weird itch on my brain, because when I was watching the video, I paused and rewind at the end of every sentence, multiple times, and I think of all the things I want to say about all the vagueness, about how these guys just don't want to be here, and I think about all the things I know about their history. They are hiding the uncomfortable truth that they don't have an actual plan. They just kinda want that xbox money it seems. Unfortunately, lots of what appears to be bile is quite accurate. I just hope that the devs can watch the stream again, rewinding at every sentence, reading the chat, analysing everything, while knowing that people who bother to type anything at all about ATLAS most likely do so because they enjoy what-is-the-start-of-what-could-be-a-game, want it to be even better and wish for it to succeed.

    - the video was titled roadmap

    - we need a roadmap because parts of the game are broken

    - the devs say they are busy working on xbox

    - xbox release comes before the roadmap

    - there is no details for a roadmap until after xbox

    - they've obviously been busy on xbox for months now

    - to go around in circles, we are at a 'crossroads' and therefore need a roadmap

    - all we have is xbox version which might mean more players, yes that's kinda exciting, in a short term stupid non nonsensical near sighted way, yay it was so exciting to see Jesse commenting on that in that reddit thread

We had all of this talk about "a plan" to end the vagueness before the last wipe occurred. What has happened since? Superficial posts about mega updates that is actually just cats and err i cant remember now.

I really hope our new lead designer has the best of luck. Please dont nerf stuff. For example - you say this is a gear based game, and you want to turn it into a skill based game. Why not have both? Why not a gear based game where skill is also involved, so that it is also a skill based game, yet also an incredibly deep gear based game, so deep to the point that people who have the best stuff make those who just started not want to play.

    I rest my case.

Go back to Ark and take your entitlement with you.

Wait up, you said I dont like the game, but I do, so I said so. You then said that the amount of playtime that I stated was in total equal to half a year, in a way that appears to try and say that there is something wrong with that. I then let you know that the playtime is not quite accurate, or significant, as a large amount is AFK time. I don't see how that proves your point at all, it's most likely the opposite actually, so i'm not sure what you're resting your case on. Where exactly is the entitlement? Are you trying to just say the generic "oh you spent $20 on something that you spend 1000s of hours on so how dare you complain"? I am more than aware of the incredible amount of value for that 20 bucks I spent, doesn't mean that I have to hold my toungue and not point out that it appears that the devs are not fixing things that shouldve been fixed during development, and instead have switched development and are now fixing things for the new market because they got told to do so by someone that they actually respect and listen to.

    Do you not like ark?
