When traveling to an undiscovered island by bed travel (in this case a fellow player placed a bed), discovery points are not awarded and the name of the island is not revealed. The 'landfall required' notice is displayed. The issue is presumably not location dependent and the method of replication should be self-evident. It is worth noting that if you die and respawn on an undiscovered island, it becomes discovered, although the notification is not displayed.
