  1. What I’m getting at is expectations and what is reasonable. Some people say EA is an excuse for anything goes. If this is true then why is anybody upset at all? Obviously this can’t be true because many people have the same feelings of wasted time and betrayal. So as Winter Thorne said it could have been avoided with better planning and or communication. But the devs would never say ‘wipe possible’ because it doesn’t sell very well. The lesson is never expect to be treated reasonably in this day and age when profits are involved. It’s sad but true and I’m blue too. Your certainly not alone if that helps at all.

  2. I’m curious to know how long is long enough. If they wiped all our progress after 2 years would that have been ok? Did you want to play until you were bored and moved on to another game and then the wipe would not be so sleazy? Or is this the last game you intended on playing and your retirement plan involves your character enduring forever. Truth be told, my countenance fell when they said they were wiping but I was more upset getting booted while playing so they could wipe it without even a 2 minute warning. I knew it was coming but this forum still has a post for an end date of the EU server. 🙄

  3. My wife plays Atlas with me but doesn’t read the forums or follow any of the “information” that is given to us by the Devs. So I read what I can and tell her what the plan is or what updates have be implemented. After this last announcement, she asked me if the game is being run by children. She is totally serious and I told her, yes. We bought a game that is fun to play but has the organization of a bunch of kids trying to get a game of kickball together at recess. It’s their ball, they are the captain’s and your getting picked last because you can’t catch

That’s all the pvp i need to last another decade.

After the wipe on Friday, I got right on the PTR and made a 9x9 grid of foundations in preparation to build a base and then thought about the fact that anyone can come and destroy it. I decided that I’ll skip them the trouble and logged off. See you in PVE.

  5. I learned a valuable lesson concerning those who manage this game. I read the forums everyday and followed all the information as best as I could but in the end it didn’t really matter. This game is great and we have a lot of fun playing it but any information that we get is subject to change instantly and without notice. I paid for this experience and I now have a clearer understanding of what I bought.  Going forward, expectations will be adjusted accordingly.

  6. Look, when I bought the boxed version of Atlas it came with an 72 page instruction book, a cloth map and a metal Ankh. Oh wait, that was Ultima 4. Never mind. I hope  this land thing get sorted out because I am a great tenant and I will sell myself to the best landlord.

Cry Havoc and let loose the dogs of war! Oh, wait, hold on..... Tell the dogs to come back in 4 hrs and we’ll save them a dish of havoc, but dont worry, we’ll keep it nice and gooey for them. Now where did I put my McDonalds Sezchuan sauce, I know I kept it right next to my PTR.

Could you please give us the recipe for Havoc? My mom used to make it but sadly passed away without writing it down.

  8. We are bringing every tame we can find and claim to L9 PVE Chansea and letting them wander until the end. I have been doing this for weeks now. My goal is 500 and I’m at 340. If you are nearby we will send an Uber Gally to pick them up. We don’t change any names so the animals aren’t confused and they are well fed. It’s sort of like the end Soylent Green but better. If you get close be aware the lag is intense.

Paint them after the 12 hour time period is over and noone can demo them.

If the settlement owner is responsible, they'll likely talk to everyone...

What if the owner of the island does not speak the same language? From my experiences so far, this is very likely. I use translator apps but it’s still difficult to communicate the nuances of intention. I do like the idea of painting after the time limit is up though. I really just hope that whatever is changed, it improves all our gameplay.

  10.  So the owner of the island is like a housing association in a nice suburban area. Joe sets the building code for everyone on Joe’s island.  You better hope that everything you build meets Joe’s exacting standards and color scheme otherwise it’s rubble. I will never even try to build where another player (whom I don’t know) can decide what I can and can’t construct in a survival game that I purchased. There is zero fun in Sally getting his/her gates demolished because Joe doesn’t like purple and pink.

  11. I really don’t want to have anything I build to be approved by the “housing association” of the island. Nor do I want to control what others build. I am hoping to live lawless again with mechanics that curb spam. We had a great time without claimed land and I hope that whatever the new rule system is, it will allow for independent gameplay. I really enjoy interacting with the community side of a MMO with the ability to create like an individual.

  12. I have about 400 hrs since launch and I keep finding new and creative things to do. Most of it lately has been building a 300+ animal safari park with tames that have been abandoned (thank you everyone). I look forward to the new Atlas but I will definitely spend less time playing because right now I have to rush around to collect boatloads of animals before they are gone. I don’t know what the record is for free range tames but the lag I’m creating in L9 pve is pretty awesome. Navigating the tames to feed them is like flying through an asteroid field. Never tell me the odds!

i’m sorry, I sound insane. lol

  13. Although I agree with the money making aspect of game making, there is a great deal of artwork and creativity that is happening also. I am sure that part of the reason when things seem like they make zero sense it is because there is someone on the other side trying something new and different just because they want to. That’s what brings some creative people joy. I know I try to almost daily do something new and different because I would go insane if I couldn’t think and act outside of the box. This of course can be a risky way to run a business but if you manage to pull off a new type of game mechanic that most everyone loves, you’ll be considered an innovator and pioneer. More importantly, people will continue to pay you to be creative. I like to think that is what’s happening behind the curtains.
