It is a pretty typical loading optimization to start with a low LOD (level of detail), and then gradually swap/replace with the higher resolution textures as system resources become available. If your video card has low VRAM (<4GB), you might never get all the high resolution textures loaded in a scene.

i got 8GB and it takes over a full minute sometimes to change from that to the "loaded" textures, i know how it works, i just still find it funny we have to deal with this 8 months after EA because they wanted to go for another quick cashgrab and have focused their resources on the xbox version of the game instead

And selling games in ea and bring it on console as fast as possible now is just the way, a small company can develop a game today. Or you get around 1...2mio beside, then you can finish a game and sell it when it's complete. All of this is just logically and should not be necessary to write down. 

 

Then we have Realist. He never payed a cent for the game and behave as the sun would turn around him. Just wait and see what happens. You can't change it anyways (or become a major sponsor).

1.- It was never stated that the game was in alpha state (prove me wrong)

2.- I dont care if my voice count i am a gamer not a developer, my job is to play the game not to fix it therefore the fact that i have an opinion doesnt imply that i want my opinion implemented, implementing changes doesnt benefit me, it benefits them, i can just go and play someting else while they are stuck with a game that has already lost 90% of its initial player base, so this is not about me.

as i said i dont rly care about the game being on EA, but i do care about the lack of transparency and the shady tactics used to cashgrab easy money when the game is barely playable and to top it off the fact that they literally stoped working on the pc version to focus on the xbox release is at the very least shamefull.

if you have noticed I haven’t bothered asking about a date because I am sure they don’t know it. I have a pretty good idea when but regardless, there are things they do know and it is causing tensions to be high by then not giving the information they do have. One more fail for them. 

its most likely because if people knows another wipe is coming many of them will stop playing, yet thats not a good enough reason to watch people fight in forums and call eachother names when they could simple step up and clarify the matter even if they dont have exact dates.

Differing points of view: I don't want those Inconveniences, I see it the same as always carrying ammo, and repairing kit to avoid breakages, so i do some prep work first.

well after all i came to the game for the sailing, wich turned out to be not very fun to be honest, the survival aspect of the game was "ok-ish"/bearable with just the hunger/thirst meters but yeah fans of survivals might be having more fun that i do i give you that.

@The D Legacy As long as the game is in the alpha phase, usually they just implying new stuff and content. Once the devs are done with this, they move over to the beta phase. This phase is usually reserved for server improving, bug fixes and troubleshooting. Then, if it run more or less stable, they leave ea and bring out the game in a final version.  

thats fine by me, it works like that in all games, what bother me are 2 things:

1.- The game was sold as a game in early acces state not in alpha state, that alone is very important since the gameplay experience you can expect from an early acces game is totally different from that of a alpha state game.

2.- We paid for it and therefore a sense of entitlement is inevitable, specially if as i stated above you got sold one thing and recieved something different

in my opinion the right way to do this would have been to give free acces to the game and tell players that it was still in alpha state, then at release sell the game at full price as a complete product, that would have been the best thing to do and the backlash would have been greatly reduced, yet they decided to misslead advertise the game for a quick cashgrab and after that switch their attention to the xbox project leaving the game in a pathetic state for months to go for another cashgrab in console.

while i do partially agree an your point jat himself said this one time: "If players actively look for ways to avoid a feature it probably means that feature needs more work from our side" (not literal words ofc i dont have that good memory but that was the gist of it) and he is correct, in my personal opinion the vitamin system doesnt add any value to the game while at the same time it bothers player's activities (more than once i have had vitamin deficiency while taming a creature alone, hence losing all my taimng progress when dying from it).

call me crazy but i dont recall people being able to drink water from the sea.. and yes there was a water sign but if you are out in the wild leveling up coming back for water was less efficient than dying, respawning and running back to your body, but well those are funny newby stories now

well thats your gameplay experience mate, i as someone who never played ark before kept dying and dying of thirst simply because the game didnt bother explaining how to fucking get water until i found a small lake in the other side of the island. yet but thats not rly as important for me as the current problems of the game.

what if i told you i dont give a flying fuck about their bussines plan? what if i told you i paid to play a game in early access not a game in alpha state?? what if i told you that the game is being totally ignored because they are too busy with the xbox release to grab more easy money instead of fixing absolutely anything?? we are 8 fucking months into EA and we still have the same ping as 6 months ago even with 2 people in a grid, same freezes, same bugs. are you rly that mediocre and conformist that you dont even want to see what is infront of you????

well considering we have wiped once, will wipe soon again, and will wipe once more after the game is "finished" they should make a x4 permanent until release, after all we aresupposed to be pirates not farmers

Personally I don’t think that’s what’s happening. I think what’s happening is that you, just like many many times in the past, are overstepping by asserting things that you believe but have little to no supporting foundation otherwise to be true as fact. I scoff at the notion that all console players demand a pristine world or they won’t play. This notion presents console players as some absurd hive mind collective that all think alike. I think some will take this extreme position, plenty more will shrug and get on with playing if there is no wipe. You are just campaigning for what you personally want and threatening the devs with some imaginary boycott of the game by all console players if they don’t do as you say.

well to be fair even "naval action" (sailing/naval fighting game) wiped when they went out of EA wich pissed the hell out of their already small playerbase, and to be honest i dont remember even 1 game in console that was released without a clean server

ATLAS is shit chapter 2:

dear diary, after wasting 3 hrs of my time yesterday trying to tame stuff i decided to give it a try again today, so i went back to the olfend spawn, i found a lvl 25 so i tought hmm lucky me, proceeded to start the taming process, while at 50% a lion literally rained from the sky and landed next to me, i managed to get on my bear wich was just next to me to proceed to kill him, ofc he went after the olfend first killing him, only to proceed to unmount me and one shot me since i was low HP due to a heat wave (wich ignores high level resistance stats and lowers your HP anyways), i wasnt so far from base so i decided to rush back and try to save my bear, i arrived just in time to see it die and for a second day on a row waste my time and lose my progress. so yeah nice game, much fun.

things i have tried,

setting the nvidia card settings manually from the nvidia 3d control panel, still looks the same

veriftyed cache, restarted, uninstalled, cleared the steam download cache and deleted any related folders for atlas, restarted pc , and then reinstalled, still the same thing, 

drivers are up to date, its all fine, 

 

i would be greatful for any advice i can get ,. i personnely think its my GPU on its way out, 

i dont no..

Just consider this - he's stated that the current players aren't players but testers and have no right to any consideration at all, while at the same time, stating that console players are very special and deserve the right to a completely clean server with no existing characters or claims on it.  I'm not sure how the same head can manage to hold both those thoughts at the same time.

well i havent read all his post, nor i intend to, but as of now if god descended upon me in ATLAS and dumped the biggest shit ever on my ship i wouldnt even be surprised, thats how high my expectations for ATLAS are right now,  actually the only reason i play it is because i am waiting for BDO oceanic content expansion coming this summer, so i wont judge.

excitement?  no one is excited aside from the game's bank account, we are still waiting for the "early acces game" we got sold, because what we recieved was not an early access it was an alpha or even a pre alpha.
